Penguins Sale: Lemieux and Burkle asking for $750 million
DatsyukianDekes replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
Blue Jays aren't MLSE, they are owned strictly by Rogers. MLSE consists of the Leafs, Raptors, Argo's and TFC which is why I said the Leafs could sell to a third party for easily 1 billion on their own. Raptors and Argos aren't worth anything really, maybe the other 400 million dollars. Also Toronto is the most diverse city, you aren't fooling soccer fans that watch European soccer with the trash they put out on the field in Toronto. But you are right, Rogers and Bell don't get along, most likely Bell won't be owning the team very soon. -
Penguins Sale: Lemieux and Burkle asking for $750 million

The MLSE sold for 1.4 billion dollars and probably could have gotten more. The leafs are worth 1 billion of that like it or not. The Raptors and the joke of a soccer team aren't worth much at all. The Raptors struggle to get 100k views on TV a night. Hockey and Baseball are the gems in Toronto. -

You clearly didn't read what I wrote, if player x gets more money, they tend to spend to that lifestyle which is even worse then if you make a little less because when it's over you got all those costs you can't afford anymore. It happens all the time it just doesn't go public, you can read hundreds of stories on google of this in the last decade. I am not saying every player does it, but I don't want to see any athlete / celeb complaining about making millions it's really pathetic. Cars and Yacht's depreciate, the maintenance costs will cost more then the actual car by the end of it and the maintenance costs are enough to drop your bank account quickly. The fenders on Bugatti's are valued over 60,000 alone. When you have to sell the car because you can't afford it then you just threw over a million dollars out the window, same goes for the price of a Yacht. Toews isn't even worth the money he's making. Ask yourself this question, Bergeron at 6.8 million or Toews at 10.8 million? 29/30 GM's take Bergeron's contract since he's essentially the same player but better defensively with 4 million dollar savings. -

People are saying they should not be so concerned with money like it means everything. After there career, who pays for the big Yacht's and Bugatti's. That is the reason a large percent of athletes go broke, they demand so much money and fall into that lifestyle that when it's over they go broke. Be happy with what you have and the fact you play a sport you love, your more fortunate then 90% of the people on earth. -

Ahh yes. I forgot he was bought out. Makes sense then.

He should have signed a long term contract when he had the chance, now he's paying for it.

Help. Seeking DRW management team contact

Hockey analytics will be the future, whether anyone likes it not; you are going into the right field. I am not saying people need to use them, and disregard watching players but it measures a player in ways that you cannot by using your own eyes. I use them religiously in Baseball and I can measure a players ability offensively and defensively just by looking at the numbers instead of having to watching a 3-4 hour game on a daily basis for 162 days of the year. I believe all sports will eventually have analytics in some capacity, although it's nothing new. For example in 1960 this was written by GM Joe Brown when Roberto Clemente asked for a raise. Joe was using analytics to illustrate why he didn't deserve one. -

Patrick Kane. Scores huge goals, unlike overrated Toews.
