I will start off by saying this is a decent pick that has potential. This kid is compared to Vatanen who looked like a stud for Anaheim in the playoffs with his speed and passing ability. I get it, he's smaller then most would want but the higher end skill is there and is pretty obvious from the videos I have watched of him. Here is his 14-15 season in a nutshell, pretty impressive if you ask me: 2014-2015 U18 WJC All-Star Team U18 WJC Best Defenseman U18 WJC Most Assists by Defenseman (6) U18 WJC Most Goals by Defenseman (3) U18 WJC Most Points by Defenseman (9) U18 WJC Silver Medal U18 WJC Top 3 Player on Team USHL All-Rookie Second Team

Toews isn't even a top 10 player in the league, no way should he be making over 9 million, let alone 13 million.

Montreal will not have the same season because Price won't. I would be absolutely shocked if Price put up those numbers again next season and Montreal didn't even improve there team at all

Two changes: If a player re-signs with his current team he can sign 8 years. If the player elects to go through FA the max he can sign is 7 years.

This sounds really familiar.... oh yea, that guy that just scored 70 points for Calgary and used to play for us. He plays for a top 5 team in terms of speed, yet does perfectly fine.

What low potential players are we going to trade though that will give us an upgrade on D? Teams want Pulks, XO, Nyquist, Tatar etc. I just don't see the point of moving one of those players for 1 year of Semin who is a huge gamble to begin with and it's not a Holland move.

Nyquist has to do a better job at 5 on 5 to start making top money. He was not very good in that department last year, and ranked 10th in PPG/60 in 5 on 5, behind players like Jurco, Sheahan and Abby.

So sign Semin and trade right away? yeah, wtf indeed.

Potential plays a lot in a contract as well. He signed a 2 year contract for a reason, in 2 years he is going to be very good. He's also a center, Nyquist is not.

He put up 37 points in his first full NHL season, and is only 23. He is going to be a very good player for the Capitals.

Good post. Was just coming to say the same thing. No one can jump in now and offer sheet him, which I was kinda worried about. This will definitely get done before the hearing.

Tatar was really good at the end of last year when he started doing the Patrick Kane moves. He has good stick handling he should be out there every time. As someone else said these guys would practice on Howie and probably converted on 100 percent of there shots so they thought they were good enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Who cares about the shootouts, they are basically gone now. 95% of games now will end in overtime. Oshie has attitude problems that's one of the reasons he's gone, along with him going MIA in the playoffs annually.
