ZDH playing keep away... very funny

I am so glad that somebody got this on video!!!! It was so much fun to watch - these guys are simply the best....
  2. WOW! This team is absolutely amazing this year - depth and speed! The youngsters that are waiting for injuries are looking very sharp. Sat in the front row for all 3 days and saw more laughter than we have in previous years. Was able to meet Kira, Loki (Loki loves to have his belly rubbed!) and Terry - THE NICEST PEOPLE YOU WILL EVER MEET! The Traverse City Record Eagle did a very nice write up on our 3 friends yesterday. Got to watch Kira from across the ice today - she was snapping photos like crazy and rubbing shoulders w/ "her boys!" Lucky lady!!! Got the scoop from Kira every morning, so we were prepared. Watched Pav and Z play keep away - entertained the crowd and then Pav gave us wave and acknowledged the cheers - awesome guys. Downie is looking faster - he did a great job. The boys all look rested - very sharp and ready. Modono is taller and thinner than we expected. He is looking very good on face offs. Hudler had an ear to ear grin and was really skating well. Both Mr. & Mrs. Illitch came to watch practice on Sunday...we got some photos of them. This was the first time in 10 years that we have seen them at Training Camp... Can't wait to see what happens...

    Training Camp!

Hubby & I will be there Saturday through Monday, Hubby's boss and his wife will be there on Saturday sitting behind us, and a friend's husband will be there all 3 days with us as well (my friend isn't into hockey, so she is staying home to take care of our 3 cats, 2 horses and 1 dog). This will be our 9th time going to Training Camp. My Robitaille jersey and hubby's Yzerman jersey are ready for hockey!

    Met Mickey Redmond Today!

Price of Whitecaps Baseball Tickets - $26 (didn't stay for the game) Cost of Parking - $5 Time spent in line to get into ball park and then in line to meet Mickey Redmond? 2 1/2 hours Cost of getting photo taken w/ Mickey Redmond and asking him to write a book about his stories? Priceless... My husband and I met Mickey Redmond today at the Whitecaps game in Grand Rapids. He greeted those of us in line with "How's it goin' gang?" and graciously signed autographs and allowed us to take a photo with him. My husband said that I shook his hand and asked him to write a book about his stories - I don't remember that because I was so excited to meet him...I am beyond excited because I have been a HUGE fan of his.

    Met Mickey Redmond Today!

No, didn't stay because it was way too hot for us. We didn't count on it being 91 degrees, and after waiting so long, we did what the other people in front of us did - we all went home to our AC.

We got to meet Loki while waiting in line for our Training Camp tickets! Is Loki coming to TC in a few weeks? Didn't the Wings have a calendar a few years ago w/ their dogs?

    Talked with Marcell Dionne today

How cool!!! I got to meet him a couple of times when I was a young Kings fan (back when I was 12) - I still have a photo of him and Rogie Vachon. Both men were so very nice to us kids when we would go down to the ice during warm up. My late father's friend was a goal judge at that time and introduced our family to so many of the greats in between periods (Gordie Howe was one of them). I wonder if they know how much of an impact that they made on young fans back then who are STILL hockey fans now because of how nice they were to us?

How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?

There were quite a few of us doing that...My husband had a great time meeting and talking to the other husbands whose wives were fanatics like me! There were 2 ladies in line behind us who go to Training Camp with their families, but the husbands stay and babysit the kids so that the wives can enjoy the hockey. Yes, it was freezing cold in line, but it was worth it and I would do it again! Only 4 more weeks to go....

How big of a Wings fan is your Wife/Girlfriend/Significant Other?

I have been a "lurker" ever since finding about this site back in March (or April) when one of the ladies in line for Training Camp tickets told me about it. Hubby suggested that I reply to this topic because I am addicted to the Wings...Like several others, I grew up in the LA being a Kings fan (I did my homework during intermissions) and getting to meet Marcel Dionne, Dave Lewis, and even "Mr. Hockey". I was at Luc Robitaille's first game, and saw him score his first goal. In 1997 I married a Michiganiac and while visiting MI for the first time, saw the Stanley Cup banners in Traverse City. I was in heaven! I went back to CA, packed up my things, shipped my best horse out to MI and never left. During the 2006 playoff run, hubby was in a car accident and had to go to emergency. Wearing my Robitaille jersey (from the Wings of course), I insisted that he get a room w/ a tv so that I could watch the game. Hubby was taken away for x-rays and an MRI - I stayed to watch the game in his emergency room on the tv...Hubby joked to the doctor that the Wings were more important than he was - he understands me! I have also gone to Training Camp for 1 day and then drove overnight to show my horse at a National Horse show... Like somebody else said, I can quote stats from the 80's and 90's and usually know the answer to the trivia questions. I am very lucky to have a Hubby who understands that nothing comes between me and my Wings...He is a big fan as well, but I have been a hockey fan even longer. For those of you in the Grand Rapids area - Mickey Redmond will be at the Whitecaps Game on Sunday, August 29th. He will be signing autographs...Yes, I will be in line VERY early that morning!
