I 2nd the Defenseman. Salei looked bad today.

lmao, so here we go again? I doubt it, at that cap hit, they will keep him because he can only go to a better team that he may play for and then help beat NYI. The cap hit is too low, Nabby is a Islander this year. Let next year's speculation begin! Howard-Nabokov - 2011-12 Vezina Trophy winners!!
-
The Wings are doing great, I am sooo happy for Emmy, he deserves to be up and has paid his dues, hopefully he stays up a day or two.
-
so NYI trade Roloson and contract for cheaper cap hit, Nabokov and former 1st rounder Ty Wishart, both former Sharks. Good move for NYI.

Was about to post this, but I had posted pages back that the waivers work the same, no matter what, lowest % team gets first choice. Then McKenzie comes out of nowhere with 3 or 4 tweets and boom i'm back wondering what I missed in the CBA, only to find he is still using the old waiver rules, lol. I threw the Drew Doughty idea out there last page I think 90% of LGW fans would have no objection to this, but the conspiracy vs. the reality is fading, likely we get neither Nabokov or anything at this point. If we do get Nabby, then agent threats might just bring us Mr Doughty. Frolov didn't stay, there must be something wrong there, but this is all wild speculation.
-
Have to wait. 24 hours is so all teams can enter their claim, and then at the end of the 24 hours the lowest gets it, there will be a "winner" at 12:01 pm Saturday.

!!!Drew Doughty, Los Angeles Kings!!! All rumors have come full circle, this is obvious posturing for the signing of Doughty, after Meehan tells the KINGS to be afraid of matching the offer sheet! g'night i'ts getting too crazy, one more theory and I will pop.

What Konnan said

OK, here we go..... Any team can claim Nabby and they do not have to even call the Wings. Even to attempt to trade him is dumb, because it exposes him to the waiver you just claimed him from, ie. if you want to claim Nabby just to trade him, you can not. The only way a team will pick him up is if they are before Detroit in the standings(nearly everyone), can afford the cap hit, and can displace a goalie from the team(minors or trade). Detroit has the contract structured toxic, but teams like Atlanta, wide open on the cap, could pick him up and tell him to stay home, just to spite us, and all it would cost is a 1/4 million in money. So if owner or GM think they could beat us easier, they would do it, just to get an advantage. Also, to make this even more fun, money would likely have to come off the book to keep Nabby if we got him. Bottom line: If Svatos and Wellwood got claimed, im thinking one of the top 4 goalies from last year will too. No compensation for the Blues, and through history, haven't seen compensation for a waiver pickup. Kenny got him in the league, and possibly a free contract(not sure if he gets paid to sit out, unless wings contract was garunteed money), Wings payoff for this will be on July 1st. Our payoff is we all understand a little more of the CBA. Personally i thought the Wings played great tonight, maybe all this talk fired them up. Edit to add: Detroit does not get first chance at the re-claim, it is once again by standings meaning the team that just got Nabby would now not even have a chance at him. All this is moot with a NTC, he will stay with whatever team takes him for whatever reason, because he already warned everyone. This has worked before with Burke and the twins, but he only had to scare 1 team, we have 1 league who all think they are the Wings rivals.
-
Just Hedberg, if they try to trade Nabby they have to waive him first, all season, no matter how much he plays We can not get Nabokov unless every team passes, I just don't see that happening.
-
BIG BERT!, Nice job big man.
-
Option # 1 The price means the he must have wanted to play for us, now a team might grab him and he may never play for them, but on July 1st all bets are off, and I'd think that Nabby won't mind the possibility of a bidding war then. Option # 2 He may just be agreeing to get back into the NHL before no one gives him another chance. Look at all the press today, its like the Heatley sweepstakes last year. Nabby might not sign if interest is high enough to get a 4 mill-ish contract. Option #3 Kenny doesn't seem the type to abuse a players trust. So he may have some secret backroom thing, i've seen weirder, but I highly doubt we see Nabby on the Wings this year. Discount next year for helping get his foot in the door, or some weird,backroom,sign-waive- player&pick for privlage&player(likely muscled out backup) am I missing any other audibles?
-
I'd doubt that was his whole plan, but it might end up being all of the the plan that actually happens.
-
27 teams have to pass on a veteren backup at 570k or we will not see Nabokov this year, the CBA is pretty strict here. So, I guarantee you are wrong.
-
To trade Nabokov at all this year, the team trading would have to put him on waivers. It's becoming clear that Nabokov isn't coming to Detroit, but rather a basement team. The only speculation left is, will the Wings end up with anything for their effort, i'd say now, that the idea was team b uses connection a to sign Nabby, so team b could get him on waivers, and then maybe give team a compensation for the help, but they wouldn't have to. Likely we end up with a back up from another team and higher pick or prospect for a mid to late draft pick, and a player. (hudler?)
-
I'm liking the idea of Hedberg over Nabokov right now, because of our situation and NJ, (i'm assuming NJ because they are guaranteed first shot) Hedberg as a backup for Howard, another Swede would go great here, and NJ gains a little in cap space, plus no wait on the transaction. NTC would have to be waived, but from last to the Wings might be attractive.
-
With all the shady moves NJ made this year maybe the are actually trying to get Nabby and deal Hedberg to us, how bout that?
-
Wow, who wants a cup? I think Nabby, unfortunately anyone would claim for that. Deal better be in place!
-
Last thing I saw Ozzy do was curling, the whole time i'm like this is the last we see of Osgood on this team. F-ing curling. The only curling I like are on my fries.

No one thinks Miller would switch numbers? He's a team guy, he might, i'd like to see Miller wear the 22 and give it back some Ciccarelli class that Lebda tarnished.
-
Bert has been playing the system, I don't need him to have 15 goals at mid season, when he is just 5 assists short of his regular season totals last year, i think he's playing a better overall game. No one in his right mind would stick there neck out for hudler, but I think that he is still an asset, all it takes is a little spark and he catches fire, then there might be some actual value to trade him, but as of now he is overpaid, atleast he didn't wait till he was 40 and comeback for his contract After reading a little more, i think said claiming team would have to hold onto Nabby for a while before moving him.
-
 I like this and it seems legit. The Wings 2nd rd pick this year could be number 60, if Nabby works flawlessly, and NJ has lost the likely 61st pick, if they stay in last place, because of the Kovy deal. Thats my official guess. 2nd is steep, but for a vet goalie to solidify our run at possibly a bargain price. 2nd to Jersey for the freshly claimed Nabokov.
-
Guardians? Really? Was the idea that fans would buy the teams comicbook shirt or something? Just stick to inovating the game, and you will see your merchandise sales go up, from interest in the product. That must have took 5 seconds, "Ya, sure, comics and hockey, good, go with it". Fail.

THN: Zetterberg should be disciplined for skipping ASG

On mlive, Ansar Khan: Howard is day-to-day with a bruised right knee, after getting hit by a shot during the first period of Friday’s 3-2 shootout loss in Columbus. X-rays were negative, and Howard could return as early as Tuesday’s game in Pittsburgh.
