    Holmstrom suffers a broken hand

On mlive, Ansar Khan: "...Holmstrom will be out three-to-four weeks after suffering a broken right hand late in Friday's game. On Saturday, he saw a hand specialist, who determined surgery is not needed."

    Doughty HUGE hit on Hall

Great hit. Expected a fight because it was Hall, but that is a lesson he will have to learn. dump the puck or let it go, Doughty had him and he knew it, that's why he tried to duck, which made it worse. Then to draw the penalty, please god, deliver Doughty to the Wings!

    Draft ranking released

On a quick glance, i see these I wouldn't mind, rieder and pakarinen most of all, ruuttu, because i'm banking that this is the one with talent. # 41 in Euro Alexander Ruuttu # 74 in NA Tobias Rieder # 106 Euro Iiro Pakarinen But for a #1 # 8 in Euro Oscar Klefbom or # 15 in NA Scott Mayfield I might be dreaming on klefbom, but im putting us at the number 26 pick, and also picking solely off the lists. This seems like a year the wings might trade down, or some of the names listed will rise. I wouldn't be surprised to see our pick, especially if later than 26th traded down for a high 2nd and a 4th or 5th/6th next year. I'll even go on to predict the Islanders 2nd and 5th (from Atl), 6th in 2012. That would give the wings basically the same player they likely wanted at 1st and 3 picks in the 5th round this year, and a kicker for next year. Anyone else wanna make some predictions to look back on in a year? Either way we will do good, we always seem to.

    How stupid is this KHL-team?

I'm glad we have the NHL and class, this stuff is not hockey.
  9. lmfao, umm....back to the subject, if anyone thinks Kindl will be traded, be prepared to be let down. Kindl has given no reason for them to move him. I like Hudler, but, he will likely be shopped.

    LGW's favorite player slewfoots Callahan

Original call looks like its when Callahan puts his hand out on Crosby. A little bit extreme to dump Callahan that way, but w/e, usually they don't call a penalty after another is active unless it is something very flagrent, also they would have to stop play, and it looked like the pens were on the attack. That said, it seems Crosby gets alot of these kinds of calls. But, it's probly true that no one would think twice of most calls like this unless it had a Crosby or Ovechkin involved. The pens were up 1-0 no one scored on the powerplay in question or at all till the next period. No controversy here.

Pronger falls victim to "Avery Rule"

Let me start with I hate Pronger, and the hand was clearly to obstruct the vision of the goalie, also he looked bush league just standing out there, Kipper was looking around him effectively and if he didn't stop to poke Pronger, would likely have stopped the shot. Its where he clearly looks back to see if he is indeed screening Kipper with his hand. The action of looking back shows that he is more intent on making sure he is blocking the goaltender's view, and not trying to deflect or play the puck. If he was looking back to make sure he isn't in the crease, thats one thing, but he wasn't, i don't watch alot of Flyers games, but Pronger didn't look like Homer out there. Current rules should have allowed this goal because of the facing language, but the loophole approach to the rules isn't the classy thing to do, so it's exactly what we should have expected from Pronger. I like finding a way to win, but I prefer talent over pee-wee tactics. The rule should be changed to cover intentionally blocking the goalies view with your gloves or skates. The key is intent, if they are looking back to check on the screen or obviously facing the goalie it should be called. Screening because you are playing the puck, should be legal. Thats my take on this, hate for it to happen to the Wings, but we have all come to expect those calls with Homer on the team.

    How Long has Huds got?

Hudler just looks like he is out of shape, I'd bet money that he will pour it on late season/playoffs, when he starts to get back into NHL condition. Lets all breathe, while I agree, that he needs to get going for what he is getting paid, I also see the team is doing great this year and if we can afford to coddle our floundering players, we should. Moving a player for what ever you can get is a desperation move, anyone feel desperate? Hudler's also dealing with a Modono that doesn't seem to have his heart into this experience. I don't think it has hit him yet that he doesn't have to do it all when he is on the ice, he goes hard for a few seconds and then is a liability until he gets off the ice.

I'm thinking they are going to use Conklin next time Howard was big for us and kept us in this game, the real Calder winner is playing in Detroit.

Campbell calls (likely Savard) "Fake Artist" in email

I find it funny that the Bruins managed to aquire Gregory Campbell since all this nonsense, if they move Savard now i'd really think something fishy was going on. They do have future cap problems coming....

    Worst call yet?

Trent Hunter was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding Andrej Meszaros in center ice. Poster has you guys riled up. The facts and details are on the link. 5 and a game for Hunter. 2 was for DiPietro leaving the crease. So, ok, blown call, except they are cracking down on needless blindside hits. You watch the hit, not a Doan hit but the refs were not close and it was questionable with Meszaros down on the ice like that, im sure the league will recind the misconduct. You judge. Bad call, but also a bad time to make that hit, in the NHL. Game on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axDTF0CPRoc

Brown Gets ejected for clean hit

Stoke the flames abit here, if he hit the head or not, looks like he caught enough head area to me, but whatever. It was not needed. Because the boy flipped and it was fun to see everyone is desperite to defend this hit, Brown got beat and knew he couldn't stop the shot. He was out of position because he threw that big hit on Zanon. Brown changes his skating lane and not into him, but infront of him, close to Doan style. Refs did what was right after boarderline hit on Zanon and then the run at Mittens. Both players saw him coming, but that still doesn't make it right. Brown complains but doesn't look surprised either. The whole point is that this hit is not needed, he didn't stop the shot and had no chance to, and shouldn't risk injuring someone just because you can. Brown needed the night off, if the league gives him a game, i wont cry, anything more than that would be rough, but, hopefully end this style hit. If this was Franzen hit like this we'd all have torches, and if it doesn't stop, it eventually will affect our team.

    Rypien suspended 6 games

I can't believe this is being argued still, even with all the newer evidence, its still against the law to put your hands on anyone like that. I don't care how you were raised, if your old school, new school, home school, if you think its acceptable to hit players with sticks over the head....whatever your backward logic is, YOU CAN NOT TOUCH A FAN. period. This guy deserves everything humanly possible thrown at him, within the limit of the law. The law everyone else was following but Rypien. Just because you are at a game, does not mean you are a paid professional, if a tiger attacked me at the circus, you guys would say, well, you are made of meat. You think he would have done that in Vancouver? He wouldn't be playing the rest of the season by team choice then. Glass would have gone a long way here, and i'm sure somewhere down the line, the teams have been warned, after this suit they will fix it and it will be a non-issue. If you don't think that these companies legal budgets are factored into your ticket price, then you are naive. See ya next year Rypien, when Van fans are blaming you for the non-cup......

    Rypien suspended 6 games

Ok, thanks guys, i was most upset about the report they were ejected. I'm still for the suspension, season and playoffs. They need to fit all arenas with glass covering atleast the opposing team, for both player and fan safety, those fans look really close.
  25. Wingzman91

    Rypien suspended 6 games

There has been alot of loose play this season, and alot of suspensions. They need to send a wake up call, anything less than the rest of the season and playoffs is too light. You absolutely CAN NOT put your hands on a fan. period. He's lucky to be alive, that kids father should have stabbed him or something, he would have been justified. The worst part is, the FANS got ejected, granted it was a blow out, but the league needs to be offering them season tix, or expect a lawsuit, probly both. This also makes the case for retro fitting glass to that area of the walkway in Minn., and anywhere else that needs it. Atleast on the AWAY side. Anyway, try that in Detroit, Rypien
