we earned this one, holmstrom won this game for us, he got beat up and then got penalized for it, that was bs, but because of that, the batteries ran out for phoenix, this is a great example of what to expect this year. Howard was stellar, and Kindl looked good. +we were short-handed from the start of the game. A great, heart-filled team victory.

Wings doing great so far.

They are a mash-up team of players that Burke could get to sign. There are a few playing that won't make their team, for the most part, I don't want any of them on the Wings. I could see the Leafs team winning the Calder cup this year. The Stanley Cup, not so much, which is why I think it will be a good game, the Leafs should win, but our guys backed by Howard may pull it out.

We are forgetting that most of Toronto's "A" squad, would likely be in the AHL elsewhere. I'm not sold on Jiggy either, he's getting slower, and our team is going to be going fast. This will be a good game.

Seriously, if you think Eaves is the guy to go, Draper will retire here, Ritola should be given the chance, Miller earned his spot. The question is do you think Ritola can put up similar numbers to Eaves on a 4th line situation, i think its entirely possible. If we needed a higher spot to fill on lines 2 or 3 i'd say keep Eaves. But we need a grinder and a return on an extra player, Eaves has the best return with minimal impact.

I also would like to keep Ritola, but, i'd like to keep Miller too. Eaves should be dealt. Where Eaves will fall short of being a Dan Cleary, Miller will become a great Maltby. Though Eaves may be better on offense than Miller, they both are grinders this year. Eaves, is prone to injury, he has never played a full season. When we need our grind guys to shine is the playoffs. Eaves was a zero on the scoreboard in 8 games last year for us, if he wasn't banged up, maybe he would have done better. Miller, also has more career goals and points than eaves in the postseason, going 1-1-2 in 12 games last year. Eaves may still have trade value, maybe back to a team like Carolina where he won a cup. Eaves also makes 100k more than Miller, so we have that much extra to sign a D-man if/when we need one. The D feels light this year, someone will miss some time. I'd rather get a half season, possibly playoffs of Lilja then Janik/Meech. As bad as it sounds, IMO, Eaves is this years Leino.

The Wings will start Tom McCollum in net Bertuzzi also out tonight, Ritola gets his spot with Flip and Mule.

I am going to the game also, the day after the wings play the panthers, if you want the special trip, go to both games. I've never had any luck meeting any of the wings, but with yzerman in tampa my chances have gotten better. Hope your first NHL game is as good as my first. December 26, 1996, Merry Christmas to me!
