IDK how you think letting RFA Quincey go is smart considering we just gave a 1st round pick for him and he has to play for us next season. Parise and Suter are not top priorities for Holland, just for CapGeeks. I'll bet a ticket to the Winter Classic we don't sign both, and we would be lucky to just get one, I highly doubt we will get either. Why has no one considered that Suter may want to play for Chicago or Calgary or hell, Nashville? Last of all, plenty of time for this thread between the draft and next season, when we actually know WTH is going to happen with half the team. That said, if we win the cup and Cleary or Q did amazing in the playoffs your plan is shot to hell. Patience grasshoppa.

Are Chicago fans not as bad as we thought? No, they are worse.

It seems shady, but there is no difference in doing this or calling up any other black ace for the playoffs. If he is on the 50 man roster and under a valid contract. What needs to change is the way teams are allowed to "pause" contracts while players get to sign another in a different league. Compensating teams for picks that leave while RFA seems like a better system than allowing the player to come and go as he feels. As soon as Radulov left the Preds his contract should have been terminated and Nashville should have received a compensatory pick in the draft. Meanwhile, Radulov would not be allowed to rejoin the NHL until he would become a UFA at 27. That would have solved all of this mess and Nashville would have had a player likely ready to play by now. Also, does anyone believe Huet is coming back to Chicago? There needs to be a time limit or something for these contracts before they are required to be bought out. Hiding a horrible contract in a different league is blatant cap manipulation and should be against the rules. Ask NJD about cap manipulation, I wonder what coming season they are going to forfeit a 1st round pick because they attempted to sign Kovy to a legal contract at the time. The worst part for them is that after all that, they haven't done good so now they have to pray they do good so they don't have to forfeit a top 1st round pick. Blah...almost game time.

Wings GM Ken Holland told Helene St. James on Wednesday the team is done on defense after acquiring Kyle Quincey. -
Any deal for Nash will likely contain (2) 1st round picks, if not perceived to be in the top 15, it wont happen. A team like FL, that might bounce out of the playoffs before the end of the season and might have a good pick next year, as history would prove, would be ideal.

Selanne retires a Duck, just the way they both want. If he moved at all it could only be if the Jets made the playoffs.

His head was turned looking behind him 3/4 of the second he possessed the puck. It is college hockey, they play with full face masks, they do not want east-west blindside checks regardless of the positioning of the attacking player. It is mainly to protect these kids so they can have a future in a better league and choose to destroy their bodies for pay instead of for a education.

Making illegal contact because of a play like that should be penalized. Yes, Ramage had a jump on the play but because of his position had to hope that his check hit square and it didn't. Oliver, A left handed player takes a pass from 10 feet behind him to his right, with a checker on his tail who barely misses the puck with a poke from 2 feet behind on the same back-right positioning, he goes to curl back and gets killed all within about 1/2 second.........and it was Oliver's job to avoid getting blindsided by someone he saw 1/32 of a second before he gets hit. Ramage had at least a full second if not 2 to decide how to react and he made the same choice as if Little kept the puck, run player with puck. Yes it is absolutely on the checking player to make 100% sure they make no contact with the head. ----------------------------------------------- From SportsMadison.com...According to Eaves, referees Brian Thul and C.J. Beaurline said the hit would have been OK a year ago, but because of its blindside nature and the fact Oliver was unsuspecting at the moment of impact led them to assess a major penalty. "It was high, but (Ramage) had him lined up, though," St. Cloud State coach Bob Motzko said of the check. "A few a years ago, that's a good hit. "(Oliver) had no idea it was coming. Like I said, a few years ago that's a heck of a hit. But that's what they're taking out of the game." Sorry goon fans, people would rather see skill over brutality. Edit: Forgot to add that this didn't happen in the NHL, I believe they are governed by rules that mandate a 5 min and game or disqualification in the NCAA.

Those are the exact hits the league wants to end, Ramage comes from the other side of the ice with the sole purpose of making a hit, not to play the puck. With that much time to make your hit, if you appear to make head contact you should expect a penalty, at the refs discretion, 2 or 5, and possibly a game misconduct. How about this, there is 45 mins left in that game, after 15 mins Ramage's team is down by 1 and a guy who barely saw the puck coming gets blind-sided without regard for his safety and no way to defend himself. Ramage saw the play coming, bravo, he made the wrong play in response. As much as everyone hates it, the checking player has a responsibility to the puck possessing player in blindside instances, real hockey is not a video game where you can turn off injuries and they are trying to protect these possible future stars. Seriously, stick lift right there and you are in a position to score instead of the showers. Incidental/minor contact with the head, in college, perfect time to teach. I don't agree alot with refs, but, I think they got it right sending off the trailing team's captain when that kind of disregard for safety is shown. Sorry goon fans, this was spot on.

They have a sport where the game ends in a tie; soccer. This is a classic case of the grass is always greener. You forget that the teams without highly skilled finishers still tied very often, like the salary cap, this is a way for teams to even the playing ground with the big spenders. The shootout is alot more fun then going back to your car to drive home, (hours in some cases) wondering why you came out to a game that ended in a tie. So the league is alot more competitive and the fans are happy, it is a win/win. I'm glad that the sport allows room to grow and become more modern over the years, imagine the fans that through a hissy fit when their team couldn't sign the best players before the draft regulated how players entered the league. Lastly, ask Wojtek Wolski if he wants the shootout gone, the man is making 4mill this year and mostly because he is a ace after the OT.

Welcome to LGW. Silly idea. Subban is a loose cannon and not Wings material. The first time he started a scrimmage fight with one of our players his ass would be dealt anyway. That said, no team is stupid enough to take our bottow rung players for a possible top d-man and a veteren. A deal for Subban would include a 1st and a prospect d-man that has equal potential. A deal for Moen could be done, but given what we would have to give up, there are atleast 10 better choices around the league. Short answer is no.

I was out checking the mail today and Holland was mowing his yard, on his bluetooth. I heard him, say 'Zetterberg' and 'dumbest move ever', so I put 2 and 2 together." - recovered from lost email.

According to Helene Elliott; Sports columnist for the LA Times; @helenenothelen. "Just had chat with Ducks GM Bob Murray. says he has two untouchables--Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu--but anyone else is in play. Says he's not rebuilding and seeking draft picks. if he trades a core player, it would be for another core-type player. hasn't conceded this season Murray said he knows will be tough to make playoffs this season but wants to see team put something together and make a run. Murray also said that if core players want to stay w/Ducks they have to play that way...and as i type that, Corey Perry scores. to clarify/amplify Bob Murray saying Selanne/Koivu untouchable: both have no movement clauses. if Selanne were to ask for trade, i can't see Murray standing in the way. But Murray's intention is for Selanne to retire a Duck, as Murray has said before. More Bob Murray, saying he's not looking to rebuild or trade for draft picks: "I still believe we have some core players. Now, whether we have to change a few core players, so be it. They’re deciding who’s staying and who’s not staying at this point." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alot of players could be moving, I don't see any coming here; what do you guys think? Getzlaf seems to be the biggest on the block for sure.
-
The way the talk is going now, it's looking like Ryan is the biggest name that might move. The ending contacts might get moved for players with years left on contract.
-
I have a feeling this is posturing by the Ducks. They know they are tanking, by folding up shop and trading out ending contracts like Cogliano (2.39m), Blake (4m), Beauchemin (3.8m) they may get a top pick in the draft and some players with tenure in exchange to make a run for next year. This is the generate hype phase.

YIKES! People, People, this was posted to get ideas on where they'd end up. I have a feeling, that places like Washington(Semin) and LA (Penner,Gagne) may be more interested in finding some scoring and have the type of players the Ducks are looking for. I don't want any Duck. --------------------------------------------------- Dreger added this today via Dreger Report on TSN: The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of many teams that stays in constant contact with the Anaheim Ducks. Past relationships between the two clubs encourage consistent communication, but the Leafs are also keenly aware of the Ducks' season of turmoil and the remote possibility Anaheim might free up a player too good to not get in the game early. On Wednesday, Ducks GM Bob Murray sparked interest by acknowledging the only untouchable players on his roster are veterans Teemu Selanne and Saku Koivu. We were left to assume key assets such as Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, Bobby Ryan and young defenceman Cam Fowler may be available for the right price. Not so. Firstly, both Selanne and Koivu are protected by no-trade clauses and it's highly unlikely Murray asks either to waive them. Secondly, the Ducks aren't shopping any of their core guys, however, if the team doesn't respond namely, Getzlaf, Ryan and Perry, it's not inconceivable one of them will become available, perhaps at the trade deadline, or more likely, at the NHL Entry Draft. Although Ryan Getzlaf continues to meander through a very disappointing season, he is still regarded as one of the premier centres in hockey. For that reason, most in the hockey world still view Bobby Ryan as a more likely trade target. Bob Murray insists his team isn't looking to rebuild, so if a blockbuster comes together, it will only be accepted in Anaheim if it vastly improves the Ducks' playoff chances for next season. In the meantime, we have weeks, if not months of speculation ahead to analyze these options.

Cole overshot and didn't hit him in the body, recklessly hitting the head. Jackman changed his whole stance from shoulder-shoulder to shoulder-chest while playing the puck, the incidental contact to Jackman was due to changing his body position. Changing your position shows you are aware you are about to be hit and lifts the onus to protect from the hitter to the receiver. Any old timer would tell you that if Jackman had his head up that wouldn't even have happened, Blues fans are the only people debating the events of that game. The topic Blues fans should be discussing is why the Blues hired the "scorers" from Dallas' goon days, then surprise fired an admitted good coach and hired the coach from Dallas' goon days. Then start a new topic about how you didn't realize this was StL plan the whole time, the responses will direct you to the official 2011-12 season game plan thread.
