So, uh... After that period, I am sure a lot of you guys and gals are reconsidering your stance on allowing coaches a challenge each game, eh? In the thread a few weeks back, I remember the vast majority, pretty much everyone here, was against allowing coaches a challenge each game. This is the EXACT situation, which I pointed out in that thread, why we DO need to allow coaches a challenge. Because when a good goal is called back due to a refs bad/wrong on ice call, it is non-reviewable. Seems even the commentators forgot about that, as they kept talking about how it would be counted as Tootoos good goal, despite the ref calling it off...

EavePietro You take "pat" out of his first name, and you are even left with "rick"...

gdt 3/15 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Oilers 2 (OT)

WTF is up with the video feed??? The Fox Sports Red Wings logo and score/timer are in crispy high def, but the actual video feed from the game is some ultra low def craziness. -
NHL coaches may be able to challenge calls, "possibly soon"
sleepwalker replied to Adidarw's topic in General
I like the idea of giving Toronto final say in disputed goals, and allowing them to review all goals. Some of the most controversial goals and non-goals are non-reviewable, due to the refs on ice calls. Lest we forget the situation with Brad Mays goal and Dennis LaRue's horrible s*** call? (thats one that still sticks out in my head, horrible call, but it was non-reviewable and LaRues call stood despite definitive video evidence that it was without a doubt a 100% good goal) -
Thats the "***** in the armor" as it were though. Remember last game when Mule took a stick to the ribs and stright went down for like a whole minute? And that didn''t even look like that hard of a stick, just that it hit right in the ribs where there is no real padding. Edit: WOW.... the curse filter here is completely out of hand apparantly. I assume you all are aware of the completely unoffensive phrase I was referring to though.

Loved the 2nd Tootoo fight. I always wondered why more players don't fight like that. I always though being that in a hockey fight it is hard to land a head shot, and even if you do, it is easy for the player receiving the shot to simply turn his head causing you to punch his helmet and f*** up your hand, why wouldn't you go for the body? Anyone that has even been in a real fight knows that rib and kidney shots hurt like a *****. Surprised we don't see more of these type of fights, especially from smalled cats like Tootoo. And you know it was effective. because you could just see the cat Tootoo was hitting start wincing when he started getting punched to the armpit, ribs and kidneys, and he flipped out and started to retaliate in kind.

They say later t his week as if its days away. I sure hope someone informed them that tomorrow is the last day of this week.

I need a prayer answered, please.....no toot-toot whistles.
sleepwalker replied to HOCKEY MATTERS's topic in General
Regardless of whether Tootoo becomes a fan favorite or not, those whistles are beyond ******* annoying and I seriously hope that no douchebags try to bring the whistle s*** to the Joe. Don't worry though... I plan to uphold the pledge I made when the Wings first signed Tootoo. For the games that I attend, anyone within arms distance of me that blows one of those retarded whistles is getting punched in the teeth. -
What I want to know is why a grown man with no kids is hanging out at a concert like that. Only thing I can think of is Cindy is a pedophile and cruising for underage girls (or boys).
-
OK, fair enough. Almost everything I have seen you say up to this point though has been pro-league and anti-union/Fehr, so you can't blame me for thinking that.
-
True, true. What I think the problem is, is certain people on BOTH sides of the arguement in this thread are completely ignoring the specifics of the actual CBA proposals and have taken either a hardline pro-league or pro-players stance based 100% on their political views regarding unions, and nothing else.
-
Uhhh...did you quote the wrong post or something? What the hell does any of that have to do with my post that you quoted?
-
Lol, seriously, and the you throw in the fact that he keeps trying to call out others as being one-sided, when he has been one of the most biased one-sided posters in this entire thread, its just too funny.

I still care, and miss it some, since I've been a fan so long, but I have to be honest, I miss is a LOT less than I thought I would a few months ago, and I seem to miss it less and less by the day. Which I didn't expect a few month ago. Its also been a bit of a wake up, and helped me to see how unhealthy the NHL has been for me over the years, the last several especially. Instead of sitting around with the crew drinking beer and eating junk food, now I go out, take more walks, read more books, drink a lot less, since most of my drinking occured while watching hockey. Its really made me think about how much of my time has been spend in front of the idiot box, sitting on the couch, watching hockey games, while I could have been doing something a lot more productive. That kind of little "realization" alone will pretty much assure I don't watch anywhere near as much hockey when eventually it does come back.
-
I hate to shatter your utopian fantasy of reality, but most that drink have.
-
Meh. I can say that too as an adult and with the "wisdom" that comes with age, but if I am being honest with myself, I would almost assuredly still do stupid s*** occasionally, like all kids do. Additionally, that last part is just silly, like drinking at 20 or whatever is horrible and will destroy your career and/or body, but at 21 it magically won't. Not to downplay the incident, as drunk driving is stupid as f***, but to all the people talking about alcohism and diseases and whatnot, come on... He got a DUI. I am sure almost all of here that drink have, at some point in our life, driven home from a bar/party/friends house/wedding/whatever after a couple too many. That doesn't automatically make one an alcoholic. It just makes one someone who made a stupid decision while drunk.

Me too. Well, except the part about the Tigers hat, lol. I ordered a new Wings hat.
-
Yeah, and? Is your contention that only one of those statements can be true? They probably still are pretty far apart on the make whole, but at the same time, its likely they are probably closer overall economically than the NHL thinks and claims, when the math is done. Or perhaps not, but its not like only one of those statements can be true at the same time.

Minor Bright Spot in Light of a Lockout Fan Contest
sleepwalker replied to vladdy16's topic in General
The CBA won't be signed at all. As clearly predicted by their calendar, in Dec 2012 the Mayan warlords will team up with the reptilian aliens and come back to Earth to initiate their death laser apocalypse upon the planet Earth, vaporizing the planet in its entirety. -
You'd probably be better off just contacting your credit card company and having them do a chargeback, since the WC has now been officially canceled.
-
Knowing the NHL, I am sure they are not really free. The NHL is probably going to add up the cost of all the coffee, donuts and bottled water from all the meetings and add it on to the amount that the players "owe" them.
-
The NHL already f***ed up the whole new "New Years Day Tradition" thing when they decided to bump it to the 2nd last year. Rolling out of bed hungover on the 1st and watching the Winter Classic was great the first few years, since everybody has that day off and its just the day to chill and hang around the house, etc. Last year I didn't even bother to watch it, as I had other things to do on the 2nd. Obviously, I was still going to watch this years, with the Wings, but any "new tradition" the league had going with the new years winter classic, they messed up last year by bumping it to the 2nd.
-
LOL I would expect nothing less from ESPN. I don't even think those clowns over there know what hockey is...
-
Exactly, thats my point. I doubt they are shaking their heads about it. Why wwould they? They signed for the money. The rollbacks would be the same regardless of the tteam they signed for. Plus, they both knew there was going to be a lockout and rollbacks were pretty much guaranteed to be one of the things the owners demanded. (every player did) Why do you think they demanded such insane signing bonuses that would not be effected by any rollbacks or new CBA?
