Officials won't let paralyzed player onto ice to celebrate
sleepwalker replied to grimace1970's topic in General
While its a bummer that the kid couldn't celebrate on ice with his team, lets turn off the emotion and think about it rationally for a second. This is North America. People here are absolutely sue-crazy. If you even look at someone wrong in North America they want to sue you. Letting a paralyzed kid in a wheel chair on the ice just screams million dollar+ lawsuit. Its a liability thing. -
Exactly. I am getting tired of hearing the same lame "when we get Dats and Lids back, we'll be perfect again" Maybe in some ideal fantasy world, yes. But in reality that ignores the facts that the PP still sucked before they left along with the points mentioned above. Its a lame excuse that ignores the fact that the team had the same problems with them in the lineup. And I don't even know what to say about the PP. Its been absolutely dismal all year. Wings are currently under 16% on the PP. Think about that. That is beyond horrible for the Wings.

I see what you mean, but at the same time it is teaching these kids that it is OK to skate with your head down and make dangerous plays because nobody can touch you when you do. If these kids come into the NHL with that attitude since that is what they've been taught, they are going to get seriously injured.

Agreed. That first one made contact, but the player who got hit clearly droppped his head by over a foot immediately before the hit. That second one, I don't even know what to say. I would shake my head if that got a one game suspension, but 20 games is just beyond retarded.

LOL So he even "announces" his retirement in a whiney *****-like fashion. I would expect nothing less from him.

What do you guys have to say about Filpulla now?
sleepwalker replied to wingslionstigers's topic in General
This thread is great! Its always good times when someone who is off their meds decides to log into an internet forum and start posting rants. -
I gotta say, even though I think their fans are some of the biggest douchebags of all NHL fans, I have definitely gained some respect for the Flyers. (note: some) Pretty much any other team out there would have thrown a ******* temper tantrum and been screaming about how Kronner should be booted without question.

I'm still in shock about Cooke. This is the first year in a few that I haven't wanted to see him get his neck broke. Of all people, who knew he'd be the one to choose to turn his style of play around...

I like Mac and all...but what the f*** was that on the breakaway??? It looked like he just skated out of the crease and intentionally let that one in. And 15 minutes without a shot? C'mon boys, that s*** is ridiculous... *not amused*

What do you think needs to be done to fix the PP/PK
sleepwalker replied to Jeff6851's topic in General
I like the responses saying that once everyone is healthy the PP will be great, or we just need Lids and Pav back and it'll click like it has in past years. This ignores the fact that the Wings PP still sucked this year before they got injured, in fact this years Wings PP is the worst in recent memory. -
In reality, altercations like this are pretty common in all pro sports and for all teams. You just don't hear about them on the news because they usually don't involve city councilmen.

Which Opposing Teams Fans Invade Joe The Most?
sleepwalker replied to LeonardSankar's topic in General
I'd say Toronto, due to its close proximity. -
My first thoughts too, lol. Sidenote: I don't think I have ever seen a post here get so many pluses that it got a gold "popular" star next to it, lol.

CHL, Other Junior Leagues Look to Ban Fighting
sleepwalker replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
I believe it. Down here in Toledo, while we have the Walleye and the nice new arena and family atmosphere now, I remember the Storm days where people attending a game pretty much expected to see a fight, and see the boys kick some ass. -
Haha! Ya mean like have the "baby daddy" whacked?
-
His teamates obviously already knew. If the fans get all pissed just now, over this one specific announcement, then it just proves that they're idiots who don't really know anything about hockey. As pointed out earlier, he has a NMC, so the fact that he was being shopped with the NMC is exactly the same as him saying "I want out". So it should have already been obvious to everyone that he asked to be traded.
-
The big contract went to his head so much that now he thinks he is Superman?
-
Be honest... How many of you even remembered that Mark Hartigan was part of our team that year? (I know I completely forgot until seeing that video just now, lol) Also, Stuart needs to bring back that bearded look!
-
Lol, what a dumb thread. As already pointed out (and should have been obvious to any Wings fan) last night was Clearys first game back after being out. By your logic, we should get rid of Jimmy too since he lost last night. *rolls eyes*

Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)
sleepwalker replied to Tim.D's topic in General
This is what annoys me the most about this trade. I don't mind giving up a first round pick, but for Quincey? C'mon... -

Not too thrilled at all about this, too steep of a price. -
Sharks May overcome your streak. Otherwise it would be a great game.

I like how this kid came in here talking all kinds of smack, and then when his team lost, he slunk away with his head down never to be heard from again. -
I don't really know what to say about this game. Play-wise, its a good game from both teams. But as far as officiating goes, its an example of the reason so many long time NHL fans think that the NHL these days is a complete joke. Its also an example of why I hate watching nationally broadcast NHL games, becasue you are guaranteed to see a bunch of questionable calls (and even more questionable non-calls) that seem to be for only one purpose; to keep the game as close and "exciting" as possible. Its like the refs in the nationally broadcast games are under strict orders from the NHL to keep the games within a goal and make sure they make calls (and ignore other calls) to guarantee the game stays as close as possible.

Detroit native Alice Cooper a big hockey fan
sleepwalker replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Do you know him personaly or something? Where did he say he no longer likes the Wings? He has lived in AZ for a long time and is a die hard hockey fan, so naturally, one would expect him to become a fan of the team in the place in which he has lived for decades, no? -
Makes you wonder why we don't see more people try that move or something similar from time to time. I like how this kid thinks...his regular breakaway shots kept getting stuffed as he said, so he simply thought about it and came up with this great solution.
