Its disgusting knowing we likely lost the game due to misinformation from the league (or conspiracy theorists would say intentional disinformation) about the Toronto reviews vs. Coaches challenges. Obviously Blashill thought that the Toronto review was looking at everything, both the possible kick in, AND the fact that Mrazek was CLEARLY interfered with. Unfortunately as we (and every other NHL fan AND team/coach/etc) now knows, Toronto is apparently ONLY looking at the kick in. To get them to even acknowledge or view the interference requires the "coaches challenge" to be called. Shady....to say the least.....

Toronto is usually on pointt, but I couldn't possibly disagree with their ruling more. Unless they have some super secret angle that nobody else is privy to. According to what Kenny said, their whole ruling seemed to based off of whether or not the puck deflected off of the Habs skate initially with a kicking motion. That is irrelevant from what I witnessed. It is more whether Mrazek could have saved the puck or not if he had not had his leg and skate kicked out from under him. That (at least from what I saw in all the replays) seemed clear. From the trajectory that the puck was taking, Mrazek WOULD have stopped the puck had his leg not been kicked out from under him, preventing him from doing so. Don't really know what to say about that one. I think the Habs are getting the Lightning treatment from last year, or Penguins treatment from a few years back....ie: they are the league darlings for the year and the team picked to win it all, and thus the refs will call the games accordingly.

Nice job on the late goals! I'm no conspiracy theorist, but this is exactly the type of game that makes people question the legitimacy of the NHL refs... From the half dozen trips by Carolina in the first (not to mention all the other stuff) to all the hooks and little interferences and other shots in the second. And still the refs let everything go.... so long as it is Carolina commiting the offences, that is. If the Wings don't get a couple PPs in the 3rd, I think we can safely say the refs had some kind of agenda here. *tinfoil hat on*

Wow... The Wings look completely confused out there... like nobody really knows what the f*** is going on. Really disjointed. Plus it looks like it is going to be "one of those games" with the refs too. What was that, like a half dozen blatant trips committed by Carolina, with no call on any of them? Ironic that the first call against the Wings is a trip with all the Carolina trips the refs conveniently ignored....

Not to mention a lot of the best lower bowl seats are owned (via season ticket packages) year to year by corporations and millionaires who only use the tickets a few times a year, leaving the seats empty for the majority of the season.

Great to see Gus score on that, especially after Carle's temper tantrum of butthurt and trying to draw Gus into an even up penalty. I know we all hate the NBC announcers, and all know they have to bow down and suck the "you know whats" of the NHL brass, but even so they in not so many words let it be known they though the last couple calls against the Wings were questionable at best.

This will be a good game to watch to see how this years Wings play against one of the better teams.

Oh, man... It seriously hurts my heart to see the Wings get outshot and outplayed (not to mention the shady/questionable ref calls) and then make a perfectly executed and beautiful hockey play to take the lead... And then due to a random flukey bounce, the canes tie it up, and use the momentum gained off of that to take the lead. ...maybe I'm taking this hockey s*** too seriously. ( or maybe I need to call an emt, I may be having actual heart attacks, lol)

Unfortunately too, the refs are predictably horrible. I mean come on, Abby was right, if anything that should have been both guys going, Abby for the trip and the Canes player for embellishment. And calling Larking for a high stick because he lightly grazed the other players helmet, (so light the other player didn't even notice or try to get the call) while Pulks takes a blatant stick to the face earlier that gets no call. Just as we've come to expect from the NHL refs though, sadly...

Damn... Wings need to get their D up. Allowing almost 20 shots in the first period? C'mon... I think they came in underestimating the Canes. Good thing Petr came ready to play today.

Its both funny and sad to me that there are still so many Wings fans that are Cleary apologists. Yeah, I get it he was a decent pick up for us an played hard...several years ago. He should have left the Wings 3 years ago, but his ego and greed...er, wait... I mean "passion for the game"...kept him here taking advantage of people who would stupidly give him money he was most definitely NOT worth for several more years. Like every Wings fan, I was ecstatic, and then heartbroken when he agreed to the 3 year deal a couple years back, then reneged, and ran back to (Red Wings) fools he could take better advantage of financially. I was a fan of him several years back, like I said before, but now, I can't wait until I never have to hear his name ever again. Bye Bye Danny, hope you enjoy all of that money the Wings gave you, since that is obviously all you cared about in your last years here. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

I'd be OK with this 3 on 3 s*** if they didn't completely alter the rules and regulations to accommodate it. If you take a penalty 3 on 3, you should go down 2 on 3. Point blank. You want excitement, there you go... This whole "oh, no, we'll just add a player to the other team if you take a penalty" is bulls***. You either want a 3 on 3 and normal rules, or you don't.

I'm always at a loss as to why O'Halloran gets the amount of respect that he does. Not really though...seniority is literally the only reason. He is as inconsistent and s***ty as all the other NHL refs. "Foot in the crease"??? Are you ******* kidding me??? If you wanted to say interference, that's one thing... But that is NOT what little 'ol danny boy called there, he called it as just simply having a foot in the crease. What a joke...

I haven't kept up with all the details of the rule changes, but what Ken and Mick mentioned this period was kind of a slight shocker. (but not really) So teams will have no timeouts this year. And by that I mean, if you want to retain your "challenge" you have to give up your time out, And being that the NHL has, by FAR the worst, most inconsistent and horrible officiating in all of professional sports, you pretty much have to give up your time out to challenge the potential (but likely) bad or non-calls by the refs. Undoubtedly the refs unions made sure this was the case. "Don't dare question our authority, or thou shalt be punished"

Oh, man... That goal by Pulks was a BEAUT! Puck slowly came to him and the Pens goalie saw it the whole way and fully squared up to him and Pulks STILL sniped that s*** past him on the far side. Lovely! Great to see Larks and Lil' Bert score at home in front of their parents and friends too! Nice game so far, hope they keep it up!

What a great way to end your career. Going from having everyone like you and your hard work, to having most fans hating your guts for fleecing the Wings year after year due to your greed/ego, while some of the young up and comers on the team are getting paid less than your long since washed up ass. Congrats Cleary! Can't wait until you are gone from this team for good and I never have to hear your name again...and I actually used to like you.

It would be beyond retarded to move Jimmy before we have a solid and reliable backup for Mrazek. Not to mention that Jimmy is still better than Mrazek, so I don't understand why you'd want to move him other than to dump his salary.

The kid won't be made fun of. Hell, has anyone even been around a school lately? The PC stuff is so out of control (in schools especially) that by the time the kid is old enough for school it'll probably be a felony punishable by death to make fun of anyone or say anything that might offend them.

Abby is one of the few guys who I won't mind if he gets what people view as an "overpayment". He is a pivotal part of the team and always works his ass off.

I spoke with one of the engineers. He said they are going to add an interesting safety measure. If you are going too damn slow, or tailgating for no reason, or otherwise acting like an *******, a giant metal elbow will swing down from above and knock your car off the bridge and into the water.

Maybe they are just trying to dissuade Toronto from wanting Mantha. Remember, the reason the Phaneuf trade fell apart the first time is because Toronto demanded Mantha as part of the trade.
