You guys reminded me that I still have a few '08 bottles down in my basement, with the old style labels. s*** I checked, and I still have two bottles of '07 Backwoods Bastard down there too! I'll have to crack one open soon! Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy beers that expensive these days, but I still have a little stash of stuff in the basement from back when money was less tight.

? Not sure which game you watched, but there were indeed 2 Detroit penalties called. Chicago capitalized on them both. The second one was a delayed call, in which Chicago had 6 skaters out on the ice. Edit: looks like edicius beat me to it. (maybe I should have scrolled all the way down before responding, lol)

I don't think you can quite say it was evenly called with them calling Detroit for 2 penalties and not calling Chicago for any. Not to mention that Chicago scored on both of their opportunities with a man up.
-
Probably because there is none. Re-read the thread. No Hawk bashing. The stuff said has been about their "fans".
-
Yeah, its pretty bizarre hearing those chants when they are playing another team. As you say, very obsessive/stalkerish.
-
As someone else mentioned here, you have to remember that most Blackhawks "fans" didn't give two s***s about the Hawks two years ago. Most of their "fans" jumped on the bandwagon last season. So naturally they don't remember Cheli playing for Chicago. Hell, they don't even remember him playing for Detroit since they didn't watch hockey until last year. I think Mickey said it best last night when he said (I'm paraphrasing) "When you actually have a little class and knowledge of hockey, you respect what a guy like Cheli has done for your team in the past" Many Chicago fans are newbie bandwagon types who have both no class or hockey knowledge. To be honest, I think the Hawks wanted it to go down like that for whatever reason. I mean, they know how much of douchy assholes their "fans" are, and they could have picked a better day to honor Cheli than at a Detroit game, knowing that would happen.

I know they do that down here in Toledo. I saw the commercial advertising it a couple weeks ago.

Support your Detroit Red Wings in the NHL All Star Game

f*** that. I'd be happy if there were no Wings in the all star game. Last thing we need is to risk one of our boys possibly getting injured in the silly all star game. -
You must be a member of BeerAdvocate.

This. They try to get too cute or try to make one too many passes. They need to just get it at the net and get rebounds.
-
True, but we should all realize by now that the league does not hand out suspensions based on the act itself, they hand out suspensions based on the result of the act. If McQuaid had gotten right up, the league probably wouldn't have suspended Shelly. If McQuaid had been injured, we would have seen a 5+ game suspension. Had he been paralyzed, Shelly would have been out for the season. Thats just the way it goes, like it or not.

12/13 GDT: Kings, Lots (5) at Red Wings, None (0)

Quick played an amazing game. Howard ******* sucked, and played abysmal. That basically sums up the whole game. -
Damn, dude...I told you not to smoke all that crack at once. Now look what you've done to yourself.

Haha! Miettinen tried to move the loose stick in the shooting lane to block any low shots coming from that way, but apparantly he didn't realize Ryan was right there looking for a stick. Instead of blocking the shooting lane with the stick, he ended up helping Ryan out by giving him a stick back to score with. Funny stuff!

And matching socks! lol

Taking a little break today, but yesterday between the Big Chill and the Devils game, I killed a 12 pack of Celebration.

Bumpin that good 'ol '90s s*** down here in the glass city.

And of course, they went after him for a clean check, as is to be expected with the pussified players these days. Instead of going after Tootoo, maybe the should have told their line mate to keep his head up and in the game. I know, crazy thought.

Its Redmondov now.
-
True, but its over. Michigan has a huge advantage this period. Not just State playing into the wind but its getting dark out now too, AND Palmisano wears contacts. I know he gave the expected "its all good" response when asked about it, but anyone who wears contacts knows that a chilly wind in your face dries them out quick and messes with your vision, and after a while if its constant, burns and blurs your vision. Plus they mentioned at the end of the second that the wind is picking up. Huge disadvantage, that I don't think most folks consider. Yeah, I tend to overanalyze stuff like this, lol.
-
Fair enough. Perhaps I misunderstood. I thought that nobody was supposed to have the home ice advantage in this one, and they only chose the Big House due to its capacity.
-
Man, I definitely do NOT like the fact that they said State was being forced to play against the wind for two full periods. I would think they'd switch halfway through the third to make it fair. Add to that the fact that the Wolverines are on home ice, as it were, and had more than 4 TIMES as much practice time on the ice as State did. And to add to all that, the Wolverines were heavily favored to win this to begin with. Not very hard to see who will take this one.
-
True. Hes the kind of player that is only in it for the money. He proved that to us last season.
-
Yeah...and that is ridiculous. To be living in such overly PC-ified times that you actually end up feeling horrible and getting a knot in your stomach for making an innocent mistake in speech, that meant nothing more than being a simple slip of the tongue in two words that are nearly identical, is a sad state of affairs.
-
Good thing they weren't talking about which player was bigger, eh? lol Seriously though, the PC-ification of America these days is getting utterly ridiculous. The fact that he felt the need to, or was forced to, apologize publically over what was obviously just an innocent slip of the tongue just further proves this.
