The whole "allegedly tried to" part makes it sound like she didn't even burn anything at all. She probably flicked her lighter near it or something. Not burning down a building trying to murder thousands of people, like the charge implies. Pissed that this should have been the end of the series of not for the shady ass refs non-call on the Glendenning attack that led to a big scrum and ultimately lost us game 4. Anyway... El Jee Dub!!! Glad the Wings are going into the third up 2. But...I unfortunately do get that feeling of dread since I think we all know what is coming in the "modern NHL"... If the past is any indication, we should expect the refs to call every little chintzy thing against the Wings, while ignoring every Tampa penalty regardless of how blatant it is in an attempt to even the game up.

After watching this series I have ZERO respect for Bishop... -dude dives and flops around every time someone even brushes into him to try to draw a penalty -he has faked an injury almost every game to try to draw a penalty, then when none comes, he jumps right back up perfectly fine -after almost every play in his end he incessantly whines and cries to the refs to try to get a penalty -every time he or his team needs a breather, he pretends he has a helmet or pad problem (or other equipment issue) This fake ass whiner is so bad, he even makes Crosby look like he never complains about anything...

******* pathetic. I'm disgusted right now.... I can't ******* believe they pissed away the entire game in the last few minutes after holding it down the whole game, and then lost in the first couple minutes of OT.

Since I know everyone is going to be in gloom and doom negative mode, I'll play devils advocate and post a few bright notes... -Wings scored late to kill Bishops shutout -Wings didn't take a boneheaded too many men penalty, like they have made a habit of the past few weeks -Wings are going back home to Detroit tied 1-1, instead of down 2

Smith has been a total disappointment to me. I had high hopes for him, like a lot of us did. He has not only not progressed at all, but he has absolutely no hockey smarts at all, and makes some of the dumbest plays ever. Like another poster said, it is pretty much guaranteed that in every game he plays, at some point he will have the puck behind his own net and instead of making the most basic hockey play and safely moving it out, he throws it right to one of the opponents. It is so frustrating. On a side note, this thread is a rarity. How many other times do we all basically agree about a player?

What in the mother f*** was Smith thinking??? Especially considering the importance of this game and where the Wings were at the time (up one, and short handed) that is one of if not THE dumbest penalties I have ever seen.

I think the current system is OK. If anything, get rid of the loser point instead of making every game worth 3 points. I also disagree that a 3 point system would bring on a lockout. Lockouts after the expiration of every CBA are a guaranteed inevitability at this point. Regardless of what you do or don't do, the lockout will still happen.

Good to know that in our absurd current PC "anything that offends anyone or even looks kinda scary should be banned" society that even a good old fashioned clean hip check is now off limits cause "OMG, it looks scary, ban it and get everyone associated with it fired" Pfft... so-called "pussification" of hockey is almost complete now...

McCarty threw a huge blindside punch to his head. That's why he turtled. Like Lemieux has said multiple times since, the punch Mac threw to his head hit him so hard it knocked him silly to the point he couldn't even see straight let alone fight back. Not to mention Mac bloodied and actually injured Lemieux. Helmersson got hit in the leg with a stick and didn't even get so much as a scratch. So you are right I guess, they aren't comparable. The Mac incident was much worse. He pretty much KO'd a guy, the continued to beat him senseless after he was down and couldn't fight back. Helmersson got tapped in the leg with a stick and walked away unscathed. Edit: BTW, I only even brought up the Mac incident since Frank was saying the guy who hit Helmersson should be imprisoned for what he did. I was pointing out if he should be imprisoned for hitting a guy in the leg with a stick, and not even injuring him, then surely one must believe Mac should also be imprisoned for attacking Lemieux in a far more brutal fashion.

Absolutely HORRIBLE reffing this game. Unfortunately, it seems thats just become par for the course in the modern NHL. NHL refs and weather men. What other profession can you be wrong 95% of the time and still collect a FAT paycheck and never be fired.

Hey Frank, How do you know helmersson didn't run or cheapshot, or otherwise take advantage of one of the other teams guys? (and maybe that's why they went after him) You are having a completely emotional reaction based on a three second video clip. You don't actually have any clue what precipitated this incident.

Super ******* lame that helmersson is filing criminal charges. He didn't even get injured.
