Haha, oh wow. Wild vs. Ducks. Koivu loses his stick, literally snags Bobby Ryans stick from his hands. Ryan picks up Koivu's stick and scores with it. Koivu proceeds to go complain to the refs that Ryan scored with an illegal stick. I used to respect the guy a lot but hell, you don't steal a guys stick and then go whine about him playing with another stick...

Interesting fact: at the pace he has been scoring so far Pulkkinen would be on pace to break the all-time record on points for a rookie in the FEL. The previous owner of the title is none other than a certain other Teemu you may have heard of once or twice, two seasons before he came to the NHL and put up 132 points and 76 goals in his rookie season. It should be mentioned though that when Selänne played in Finland the regular season was 14 games shorter.

Just to clarify, there is no goalie in the world who stops that shot 100% of the time. Doesn't mean I can't hope he'd have stopped it this time. It definitely is not impossible. Note how I stated I don't actually blame Howard for the goal as much as I do the skaters who repeatedly failed to clear the puck properly.

Terrible end to a terrible shift. Jimmy should've had that but the blame lies more on us letting the habs dominate the play for a minute or so.

Do you really need more though? I'd be happy with a cup every year, even if we don't get a shutout every game of the year

Evening all, just got in after a long night on the town. How's the game so far?

Well, as much as I'd love to see us dismantle the Ducks again, it would probably be best to go sleep before the sun comes up. Got a friends 50th birthday to attend tomorrow as well, hopefully I won't even have to drive :beerbuddy:

Abby is so strong on the puck, he's been one of the biggest positives this season for me. And this season has been pretty damn positive so far.

Nice kill, good to see the crowd appreciates it too. This is one of the things I love about Detroit, the fans actually know their s*** and know there are other great plays in hockey than just goals and saves... something you won't find nearly as prevalent in the newer markets.

Considering the angle the stick came up I'm not sure, in the worst case it could even make it worse if the stick does make its way under the visor and gets stuck there.

Niiiiice, Helm! We are SO winning this game. Also, if someone needs something to do during the intermission, a shameless plug: Canadian comedy troupe Loading Ready Run just started their annual charity event Desert Bus where they play the most boring video game in existence for as long as they're getting donations for Child's Play, a charity that helps kids in children's hospitals get toys / games. They'll be doing all kinds of random stuff and auctions on the stream during the event, last year I think they raised $140k over almost a week I think. If you're a geek you may find the type of humour enjoyable, if not give it a look anyway!

Still think we can take this one, we do need to get one in this period though. Either that or Theodore needs to have a complete meltdown, which I wouldn't put past him. Hope lives!

Just got in, how are we looking so far?

A callup seems unlikely at this point since the team is already rotating forwards and winning. It's a shame because I really love iFlip (he played for my local team out here in Finland last year, when they won the championship) but to be honest, NA hockey is so different from European hockey that it's probably better for him to get a good feel for it in the AHL before making the jump. I have to say based on what I've seen from him here I really think he has the skill to make an impact in the NHL, especially in a system like the Wings' where skill-based play isn't just reserved for the top 6.
