Guess we're putting on a show. Better not fall asleep in the third!
-
Looks like the Captain wants to shut the "too old" -crowd up quick this season. I don't mind.
-
Too late for the first two games but made the rest of the picks now. This website seems pretty good, as for the confidence system I wouldn't mind it but I can imagine some would as it makes picking take a fair bit more time if you're serious about it.

Sick goaltending matchup going on in the Flyers - Bruins game. Bryz and Thomas both showing up for their paychecks worth so far.

Can't believe it's finally starting again, felt like a freaking year and a sad one at that. Here's to a successful and safe season!:beerbuddy:

Ouch, reading through that made me cringe. Good luck and I really hope you don't get injured again. Just remember there's other things in life that you want to be able to enjoy, don't completely wreck yourself for just one of them.

Penguins are out of the Jagr race. As per NHL.com live blog: http://www.nhl.com/i...od-rr-headlines Personally I'm quite surprised. Not sure if Jagr will sign with anyone in the NHL if not the Pens, but I guess the question is were his demands unreasonable or were the Pens expecting him to take too much of a hometown discount.

Wings re-sign Eaves to 3-year, $3.6m contract
Cevari replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
This is great, Eaves was one of my favourite players last season. As many have said this really shows just how badly we're overpaying Ericsson though, but looking at all the D-man signings this offseason it feels like everyone is paying crazy amounts for them right now. -
Heh, saw this and instantly knew there would be a s***storm here. Seems really expensive, I feel like we're paying for potential that should already have surfaced. Not a fan of this move, would've expected about 2.5mil per year...

Well this just made my day. Now... WIN IT FOR LIDS! (I know he already has a few, but hey, who's counting?)

Lahti is a picture-perfect example of a player who does well in the FEL but wouldn't be anything in the NHL if you ask me. Relies too much on skill, which is enough playing in a bigger rink with way less skilled players against him but put him in the NHL and suddenly he has no room and even the opposing grind liners can reach the same skill levels, with better speed and strength in many cases. Unless they want him in GR I don't see any point in bringing him over. Would love to be proven wrong of course, the more finns the merrier.

All the injury related posts reminded me of this topic I saw on HFBoards a few days ago. No Guts, No Glory - Sami Salo The guy is like a lightning rod for bad luck and would probably break his collarbone getting off the plane from Van. I like him but I have no interest in us signing him.
-
R.I.P. Atlanta Thrashers. Not surprised, a bit sad because Atlanta would've been a great market to get a hold on. Mainly happy for Winnipeg though, can't imagine how happy the fans there are. Especially considering they had a team and lost it before.

I'll be rooting for the Bruins on this, I kinda like the team in general and original 6 teams need more cups. Kinda hoping Rask would get a start but that's not gonna happen with the way Thomas has been playing, unless he really breaks down a couple of games in a row.
-
VAN/BOS: 4-2 I really want Boston to win but the 'Nucks feel really strong right now. Expecting good games anyway.
-
Thank you! :siren: I'm a bit drunk right now, I did believe we had a good chance to win but after so many finals losses... I didn't dare start celebrating until 4-1. Suomi Finland Perkele!

VAN/SJS: 4-2 BOS/TBL: 4-3

They're playing the bronze game on Sunday. I very much doubt Dats would fly to Slovakia to play one relatively meaningless game while heavily jetlagged and injured. I really hope he doesn't in any case, some bastards gonna hit him on the wrists for sure if he goes...

IIHF rule: "No goal can be scored when the puck is high sticked into the net with a stick of the attacking team where the point on the stick where the puck hit the stick is above the height of the crossbar and the puck was propelled into the net." NHL rule: "When the puck has entered the net after making contact with an attacking player’s stick that is above the height of the crossbar. Where the puck makes contact with the stick is the determining factor." Same rule, and the goal was reviewed and found legal so this should fly in the NHL too. Basically impossible to score this kind of goal illegally actually, because if your stick is above the crossbar at the last point of contact the puck logically has to hit the crossbar or go over it as well.

It was a very cool goal, had an awesome moment because it happened basically the same second I tuned into the game for the first time. As for the "showing off" vs. "just getting the job done", I don't see how this isn't an effective strategy when you can pull it off. Plays from behind the net when your team has no presence at the front are all very low %age plays, so might as well try to score. The risks are small (except the risk of looking like an idiot of course) and the potential payoff is huge. Obviously this isn't something you try to do every game but I don't see why "too flashy" goals are somehow worse than any other goal. I can definitely see Granlund having a bright future in the NHL. Kinda wish he was ours but we do too well to ever get these top picks Then again we already have Pulkkinen and Ironhook coming in the "skillful euros" category so I'd even more like to see some big physical D-men.

I'm cheering for both EC teams. Boston is an original six franchise that is suffering a long cup drought, while Tampa has Stevie Y (and Martin St. Louis who is one of the most respectable players in the league). In the WC I'm cheering for San Jose, I hate losing to them but I'll take them over the 'Nucks (Sedins ) and their annoying fans any day.
-
Hurts right now but there's no question the Wings played their hearts out in the playoffs. The more I think of it this was one of the best playoff series I've watched in my time. And as much as I hate SJ right now I'll probably end up rooting for them against anyone except Tampa in the rest of the playoffs. Really looking forward to next year. Someone make Helm shoot all summer long until he snipes like the Mule.
-
Well, thanks for the season guys. f***. Now to decide whether it's "back to bed" or "empty a bottle of whiskey and burn down the apartment complex" time. Good effort by most of the team. This whole series came down to one bounce in any of the 4 games we lost. ******* frustrating.
-
We can do this. It ain't over till it's over.
-
We've still got this. Dats just made the Sharks into the Chokes again. Count on it.
