What pisses me off is the gutless stare down crosby gives after the game is over and the boys are congratulating Ozzy...like he's intimidating someone. After each loss its as if he was screwed over by a particular player and he'll be damned if he's not going to make him aware of it once the game has ended. Do your talking on the ice, not on the bench.

helm basically means wheel, or to steer...so maybe 'the wheel'. or 'helmet'.

ho ho ho....wings in six (tell pierre that i'm calling my shot right now)...wings in six....merry christmas.

If the wings get out to an early lead, we're not going to play the same hockey as if we're down 1 or if its 0-0. We get the lead and we usually hold it. Granted i know we're still out there making strong offensive pushes, but we're not going into an offensive frenzy and pulling up a D-man or anything. How many scoring chances do we need when we're up 2-0? We just stay patient and and eventually things bounce the right way...and we ended the night 3-0. You can't compare energy levels and effort between two teams when one clearly has control of the entire game from the first drop of the puck in game 2. The Pens looked really good in that first period of the first game; everything else has been in reaction to what we've done to them. It's a head game for the pens, maybe their home ice will settle them down. They looked extremely young last night, and the classless play of their more 'experienced' players was trash. It looked as if Crosby lost control of his team after the first two detroit goals. Once they started gooning it up, it just appeared to me that Crosby wasn't all there...like he didn't want things going in that direction.

like everyone else is saying, the ducks have a bigger propensity to bring a more physical game than we do. However, i feel we take the hits better than most clubs. I mean look at Lebda, that little guy gets hit harder and more often than anyone...and he's still in there banging away. Gritty, we're being more gritty. And that's something you really can't put a stat to, so as long as we keep hustlin' we'll get there. i hope 'the wing' win tonight...might actually allow me to stop thinking about what pronger did to us last post-season.

filppula cleary zetterberg franzen hudler lang calder bertuzzi samuelsson lebda quincey schneider yeah, you're absolutely correct ducksfanforlife....these guys don't want to win a cup at all for detroit. absolutely unmotivated to win.
-
i'm all for fans of the 'duck' saying how much luck detroit had tonight. I'm okay with them saying that the 'duck' gave the wings the game. But when ESPN has this on their front page of espn.com.... ...i think its gone too far. I mean, s***, give us some credit for winning a ******* game.

real classy d13... thanks for the upbeat posts throughout the series.

Best thing about round 2, playing an AMERICAN team.

i'm just hoping this series will actually be in high def. The cbc feed on 'versus' was crap...not to mention the announcing. -
I live in Mississippi, so hockey anything is sort of back burner stuff here. At the time (in 2000) i was heavy into gambling on sports related anything. The New Jersey Devils were in the Stanley Cup finals and were up like 3 games to none. I figured that i'd put a butt-load on the devils since noone really comes back from that sort of a deficit (my thinking anyway). So i actually watched some of my first hockey that night. Of course the devils lost and i doubled up on the next game and won. But i had a blast watching the game and getting so nervous about the amount of money i was throwing out there. But that was it...i couldn't follow up on that urge to watch more hockey. I mean, i watched it...yet i had no clue about why offsides was being called, icing, 2-line passing, etc. Luckily my girlfriend's sister had her boyfriend over (from grand rapids). He explained some stuff to me and the next year we followed any Redwing action we could get ahold of (not much televised hockey here at the time). I became familiar w/the players and the rules of the game. The two of us were constantly hitting various sports bars to get the games (via sattelite, etc.) After that season (we lost to L.A. in the playoffs), we ordered center ice and have ever since. Of course we won the cup in 2002 and that pretty much sealed the deal with me. I've been an avid fan. He eventually became my bro-in-law (we married sisters) and we've since been to an actual game (we traveled to Nashville 1/6/06). That game was so surreal. We bought the tickets on stubhub and paid an ungodly amount, but we were right beside the bench (like five feet away). I got to talk to osgood while he scratched on his little sheet of paper and i attempted to give the players 'high-fives' as they entered and exited the tunnel in between periods. Never knew how much they referred to themselves as boys, lol. "let's go boys...here we go boys...alright boys" It gets better now. Starting the last few years, i've actually followed the trade deadlines and off-season acquisitions...the farm, hearing about grigs for the past 2+years, checking on the griffins, etc. Just basically following the entire organization. Its consuming. The obsession grows, including the disappointment when our season ends abruptly. but that's about it for me. I don't suppose there are many southern mississippi redwing fans that have actually been raised here their whole life, yet here i am. What a glorious game this is and what a legendary team. good luck boys.

boy, people are really quick to bash on southern people and their catfish. its not like they're getting fresh tuna out in nashville these days. Catfish is very symbolic of southern culture...i mean, would you want them throwing stray euthanized cats out on the ice? Seems a lot better than the alternative. I feel like our octopus has a lot more impact, as its usually done w/in certain parameters...but i could care less what our competition is doing. Its like we should figure out if they're selling hotdogs in their concessions too...because we KNOW we had that before they did.

i don't feel like he avoided that last question...he directly said that he would definitely be back if he stayed healthy and the fans and city really took to him. Holland spoke earlier and stated the redwings' doctor and another team back specialist spoke w/florida's doctors about bert's situation. He said he's been skating w/the panthers for the past 3-4 weeks and Ken fully expects Bert to be back w/in 2 weeks or so.
