Report: NHL to have 5 outdoor games in 2014-15.

That would be cool I just doubt the KHL would agree to it because we would embarrass their league. Russia generally produces lackluster D-men and goalies. -
Confused on the direction of this team going forward

Uhhhh You state that now the elite are Henrik and Quick. 2 goalies. Then you state that there's not just 2-3, effectively contradicting yourself. I thought I was being very clear. Hope that's a bit clearer for you. For a long time around here he was being heralded as our next Zberg or at least something closer to that than Filppula was or is. -

I know, I'm just going to be upset if Jarnkrok really does become an elite talent. -

NHL.com just listed Calle as their #2 prospect behind Forsberg *sigh* Except you said exactly that You said it WAS Roy, Brodeur, Hasek, NOW it's Henrik and Quick -

I think in the short term they are, yes, going to make a lot of money. But they're destroying the novelty of the whole shabang by having so many so often, which is what made it cool and special to me. They managed to make the scheme dull for a lot of fans within an 8 year period. Whereas if they had show some restraint they probably could have kept me interested for decades. -
Oh f*** you Mother f***** posting this s*** at 1 am when I'm good and drunk. I'll deal with you tomorrow after 5 pm when honest Americans have the reasonable ability.
-
I just assume some will fail. I'm hot on Marchenko AA Mantha Pulkkinen Sproul and Ouellete right now. But who knows that might change. Larkin and all the new guys have yet to impress me. EDIT: Was drunk and misspelled words
-
Well see I trust management, whereas many of you don't. I'm going to be fine with the Legwand-Ironhook trade until Calle makes it big in the NHL. I like to think management knew what they were doing there. I think once Mantha, Athanasiou, Marchenko, Pulkkinen, Ouellet, and Sproul (or a combination of others) officially join the team, and they are what we thought they would be. Then the trades you want will be made. The Wings play REAL tight to the vest, and as a business man I operate the same way. IMO it's smart and minimizes risk, even if you lose some product in prospects who can't grace your system. All that means is that you're getting the best of the best.
-
Well because I don't think any non-first rounder, sleeper, has any real good value till they play in the NHL. Hasek went to Buffalo for a 4th rounder and a crappy prospect. Now he was a 10 round pick but I'm sure you get the point I'm trying to make. It'd be like buying an awesome Tv for 100 dollars when it's really worth 200... then selling it for 50. EDIT: I think we fans think our future is secure (I do as well) but the Wings have proved to be shrewd over-ripeners who won't believe it till they see it. and again, I'm fine with that.
-
I agree, but that's what also what I'm saying. I think the Wings are a happy medium. They're focusing on the draft now, and then once theyre future is secure they will do what they need to trade. I dont expect this draft heavy stance to last forever, not when we have a young core.
-
You're not wrong, I just don't think we're in the position to make those kind of moves yet. When the young core of this team assumes the helm (Sorry Dats + Z) then I fully expect necessary additions to be mad. And that may very well be within D and Z's career.... I can see us winning the cup with D and Z in lesser roles as old time vets. The best part of retooling with a young core is having the best in the world to teach them. Ala D and Z.
-
you're pretty much spot on. I just don't see things as black and white as you do. I look at a team like Philly, who tries to go balls to the wall every year, and I don't like the situation they're in. Then I see a team like the Oilers, who have been trying to rebuild for years and it's not working, and I don't wanna go through that either. In the non cap era our strength was attracting FA vets who wanted to win... and we did that. In the cap era our strength is drafting... and were doing that. But that means we're gonna have to be a helluva lot more patient with the results unlike the non cap era. And I'm fine with that for the time being.

The fact that we were scheduled to have 2 WC's within 5 years of each other makes it lose its luster for me. When they first started I was like whoa best idea ever, so happy to be in one. Then it was like YEAH one in Michigan! Then, before the later even happened, it was like so every team is gonna do this every couple years and it's not special. It's cool yeah but I'd rather it be something special and exclusive that teams do every 30 years. Something like 1 WC each year and no dumb stadium stupids. -
I thought he was a great role-player in MTL. Mind you I don't pay much attention to those "I think I'm better than the Wings losers". Surprised they didn't keep him. Kind of like our Glendening?

Good thing for you this is a forum. MDZ: 16 points in last 67 games (2 seasons) K: 19 points in last 66 games (1 season) Q: 13 points in last 82 games (1 season) But MDZ will magically turn it around here and Q and K don't have a chance, right? Grass isn't always greener, sometimes it's crappy brown south of the border grass That's fair. Quincey though is much better (Q better than someone else at something? Where do I live? The moon?) than MDZ defensively. Though I agree with the dislike of the pricetag. I'm not sure MDZ would even crack Babs lineup

Of course he's you're unsung, you can't even spell his name. -
So everyone ******* and moans about how our team has too many injury prone players and too many dud players like Quincey, Cleary etc, but we want a guy with serious injury problems who the Rangers fans came to recognize as a dud for his terrible defense, and who after being traded for by Nashville was shown the door?

Normally I'm not the one crying around here lefty
