Avalanche are taking Ryan O'Reilly to club-selected arbitration
number9 replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
I think a lot of players like ROR hope their career will take them till they are 40, but know that there's also a very good chance that won't happen. Injuries, sudden drop in talent, COL might not gett that cup for a while, or even in his lifetime.. I don't think there's anything wrong with him wanting to get paid now to help his future, but as a fan watching cap numbers it would irk me if I lived in Colorado too. -
Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins

Highest PK time per game as well. Still has the best gva to tka ratio too. Only forwards who really did better in hits per game are Abdelkader, Tootoo, Helm and Jurco. So basically Miller is our best 4th liner checker at the moment. I won't claim he's a bigger hitter, but the kid grinds, is fast, and smart in the D zone. He's a great PK man. -

However I will say this: I think a perfect grind line should have a feared player, a pest, and a defensive all-star. That's why I think Maltby - Draper - McCarty/Kocur was perfect..... Pest - Defense - Scary Helm is the pefect Draper replacement. Abby is good, but isn't scary or pesty enough IMO. Miller is great as well, but he's like a Draper playing the wing, and we already have that in Helm. Yet, with all that said, the nature of the game is changing. Gone are the McCarty Kocur types. In are the Helm, Miller, Draper types. -
Now how are we gonna win shootouts? Hopefully one of the kids, idk maybe Jurco (I know, shot in the dark), could be tried in a SO... Wait, who am I kidding? that won't work.

Drew Miller led the teams forwards in blocked shots with 63 (number 2 was Glendening with 38) Miller had 26 take-aways and only 9 give-aways. Better ratio then any other bottom 6er on the wings. Miller was 2nd to only abdelkader in hits among forwards on the team with 122 compared to Abbys 172. Miller led all forwards on our team in PK minutes with 246, Andersson was number 2 with 170 That's a damn solid bottom 6er, or at least one of the better bottom 6ers on this team. -
I'm a little afraid of signing anyone from Florida. Everyone whose come out of there recently has flopped. Weiss, Sammy, Booth

I'd miss him too, but I can't remember any of the 11 games he played in last year.

I eyeball tested Sproul, and he's not ready, trust me

He's not ripe!

Ps 2 of the nhl networks experts just agreed that Alfie is the 6th best FA on the market. Take that for what it's worth....

David Booth may be available as a UFA

Watching NHL network right now while I have the time, and couldn't help but mention that they interviewed Poile and he stated that he's still modeling the Preds off the wings current system. He also mentioned the spurs, comparing them to the wings, but ya kno, more basketballish

I love the wings bc, despite his knees, they didn't trade Yzerman, and bc despite his back, they won't trade Zetterberg. If you want to root for a team that does that kind of thing, go be a deadmonton fan. Oh, and Franzen + pieces won't get u ekblad unless this is NHL 14

Too many forwards. Sorry patty, I love u, but Dano might have ur spot. Truly sorry, really

Signed Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal

I think this shows how ahead of the game we still are. In the 90s it was grabbing Russians and other euros that no one else thought to pursue. Now it's the guys that didn't get drafted cause they were injured or bloomed late. As long as we produce Brunners and DDs we will be prime destination for these types, at least until the name of the game changes again. Glad Holland and co are still ahead of the curve in this regard.... -

I agree with you completely, however id really likely to see McCollum get another shot. He seems like a late bloomer who was rattled by the NHL early on. I think Coreau was signed to offset the departure of McCollum, but now Tom has rebounded and shown 1st round pick promise again.1. Mrazek 2. Patterson 3. McCollum 4. Coreau That's the order of priority IMO. I'd be ok with McCollum backing up Mrazek, but I'm a bit troubled sending Patterson to Toledo -
I'm one of the more faithful Holland guys, but I'll do a 180 if I see Dano dawning the winged wheel again... Barring a reasonable circumstance like literally everyone else is injured

The same Lapointe that was considered vastly overpaid by the Bruins and quickly declined after leaving the Wings for Boston? Maybe that's why. The Kings got those players because Holland is the dumbest GM ever and it's all his fault.
