He's not lazy, he just never grew out of his prepubescent social anxiety and fear of scoring goals. He purposely misses so he can play on the super fun 4th line with cool guys like Cleary.
-
I'd prefer if he wasn't on the team at all either, but he did sign cheap last season with an agreement that his contract would be renewed. Though he underperformed, I like and respect the fact that Wings are keeping their word. If it's his leadership the wings love then I have no problem with him GR mentoring future Wings.
-
And there's a reason my point is obvious. Trading away your franchise player and captain for an overhyped draft pick isn't a calculated risk, it's NHL 14 fantasy la la land.
-
It's already been stated by management that jobs have been taken. Kids are in, vets are out. The contract being discussed is 2-way for a reason. If he earns a spot in the lineup which I, and I think we all doubt, then more power to him.
-
He's going to GR to be a mentor, only way he returns to the wings is if he beats out a kid for a spot. Don't see how that's so hard to grasp.

Shawn Thornton will not be returning to the Bruins

Babcock, Zberg, Kronner, Pasha are all so eager for change that they didn't call for major changes or leave this team. -
Sure, but I wouldn't call it a FAR cry. And regardless it still doesn't make sense to buy out his contract when he'd likely get even more per year from another team.
-
Plus you buy out players who are not performing up to their contract. Currently Franzen is.
-
The wings will have close to 8 - 12 million after re-signings, depending on who is retained. Go find another player who produces at his rate for the same price, spoiler: you can't.

So Boston was a good indicator and for some reason Chicago was a bad indicator.... Ok? Like I said, both teams were better than us. And we lost to both of them. I take no false hope from the Chicago series, but I also don't give up hope over the Boston series. If you don't care about your argument on this message board why do u bother posting? -
*wings sign Patrick preds sign David*

"I wish we played worse so my argument would stick" We lost to two good teams, that's all that happened, forget the rest. I don't think anyone here thought we were truly to superior to either of those teams. We don't suck, we're just not Boston, Chicago, LA good at the moment. -
Babs AND Holland wanted Cleary back. Get with the times.
-
Multi year? No. Legwand maybe. And going to GR isn't going to the Wings.
-
Not even Nashville wants Tootoo

He's putting up the same numbers he did in 2008, why in the world would we buy him out now?

Signed Wings sign Tomas Nosek to 2 year entry level deal

Even with his skill he hasn't put up decent numbers since 2011. At least Jarnkrok could play the minors, this kids a bust. -
COULD. Could be a huge waste of talent too. Everyone's high on draft picks this time of year. Few come even close to Z or Y

Holland is the stupid one?

You're right, I just think Niskanen might price himself out of Detroit, and if that happens id be willing to chance it on Boyle. We need a defensive puck mover unless a kid steps up.
-
If we are talking about Niskanen and Boyle here, like I assume, IMO both are far ahead in puck movement ability than White or Colo ever were. White had a good slapper but couldn't play D without Lids. Colo couldn't stay healthy. I think Boyle or Niskanen would immediately play top pairing minutes and would greatly improve our defensive depth from the get go. On top of that we have numerous young kids all on the cusp of breakout seasons. Even one breaking out could help us immensely
-
Considering that Babcock played him most of last year on the 4th line or as a healthy scratch, I think I would be little surprised if suddenly he played him in the top 6 with dats and Z on a 2-way contract. Although I don't I live in blind Holland hate land so what do I know?

Avalanche are taking Ryan O'Reilly to club-selected arbitration

Neither party has done the other any favors. Eventually ROR will depart from Colorado, end of story. -
If you're looking for FA acquisitions, yes, you'll be sorely disappointed. The kids will be another year better and our vets will indeed have injuries, although I don't think those can get any worse than last year. We are shedding Bertuzzi, Sammy, possibly Q, and likely sending Cleary to the minors. That should bring smiles to everyone around here.
