LH D-man. 18 years old. 6'6" Has 42 pts in 67 gp this year in the OHL, as well as 115 pims Possible steal? That's a lot of pts for a young kid. He's apparently fast for his size and hard to beat defensively bc of his reach

Yeah Rafalski was a loser too... Hell even Hull and Robitallie were losers. Gimme break. Kip, ur not usually one to hold irrational bias but ur doing just that at the moment. Sproul and Ouellet are still big ? And we have money to spend. Signing a Boyle wouldn't be a terrible loser decision.

Hasek WAS a loser. Stuart WAS a loser.

Dan Boyle not coming back to the Sharks

Niskanen would be good but much rather grab Boyle than Zidlicky

So who are the top RHed Dmen?

    IMO Trouba is overhyped.
  7. Kind of surprised, but he is a hard working grinder who's shown flashes of top 6 capability. No matter what, in the end it's good for the wings

    Anthony Mantha

I'd honestly be surprised if he didn't win both
  9. I gave the shin pad assassin the benefit of the doubt when holland first signed him. A little pricey but had chemistry with the wings in the past. Then he was injured all season. Ok, could return to form yet, has playing experience with Weiss. Then he pooped the bed this season, so I'll eat the crow on that one. Terrible signing. Im a huge Whalers fan and always loved Weiss. I'm praying he doesn't turn out exactly like Sammy right now.

    Babcock - Jack Adams Finalist

At the beginning of the season us and Boston were heavily favorited in the East

Will Mantha join GR after the QMJHL playoffs?

And I'd pay Datsyuk $10M a year to actually play hockey

Holland Holding on to Jeff Blashill

As much as I'm fine with it, I'd hate to lose Babs during the middle of the reloading process. Whole team needs a steady transition over the next few years

Holland Holding on to Jeff Blashill

Babs is a pro. Even if he was leaving he would scout Mantha. He does his job.

Will Mantha join GR after the QMJHL playoffs?

Lol u took the post too seriously... But hey, who'd u rather ***** about Grass? A 4 mil Franzen or a 10 mil Ovi? Hilarity ensues
  15. number9

So what do we have to trade?

A 4 million forward that gets 41 pts in 54 games gets a bag of pucks? While we're at it let's trade for Crosby

Will Mantha join GR after the QMJHL playoffs?

Figured somebody would actually run the numbers. The post I was responded to called Franzen 1/10 of the player Ovi is... Naturally I played ball

We need a top line scorer, a top power forward, a shut down D man, a puck moving D man, a new starting goalie, multiple gritty bottom 6 forwards, a new coach, and a new GM. If we do that will everyone be happy?
  18. So I saw a Leafs fan do this, and for them all of their fighters ended up at the bottom of the list, so I thought it might actually be a semi decent metric and wanted to see how the Wings lined up. Corsi F% is basically an advance stats proxy for puck possession. (Shots + shots missed the net + shots blocked for your team and the others while a player is on the ice) The Leafs fan did Corsi F%, minus Corsi F% of linemates, plus the Corsi F% of opposition. So basically it's CF% adjusted for the strength of competition and strength of linemates. Here's the numbers for the Wings during regular season 5x5 play: Tatar 0.563 - 0.500 + 0.496 = .559 Datsyuk 0.561 - 0.500 + 0.494 = .555 Nyquist 0.546 - 0.510 + 0.501 = .537 Sheahan 0.561 - 0.522 + 0.494 = .533 Jurco 0.558 - 0.524 + 0.494 = .528 Zetterberg 0.532 - 0.517 + 0.508 = .523 Helm 0.531 - 0.508 + 0.492 = .515 Legwand 0.496 - 0.492 + 0.501 = .505 Alfredsson 0.513 - 0.511 + 0.495 = .497 Franzen 0.511 - 0.514 + 0.500 = .497 Samuelsson 0.505 - 0.505 + 0.497 = .497 Emmerton 0.502 - 0.505 + 0.498 = .495 Abdelkader 0.508 - 0.518 + 0.503 = .493 Andersson 0.500 - 0.515 + 0.495 = .480 Miller 0.489 - 0.510 + 0.494 = .473 Bertuzzi 0.496 - 0.524 + 0.497 = .469 Cleary 0.473 - 0.512 + 0.499 = .460 Glendening 0.462 - 0.518 + 0.495 = .439 Weiss 0.420 - 0.520 + 0.505 = .405 I was glad to see all the kids right up there with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. A testament to how well they've worked in our puck possession system so far. Defensive players like Abdelkader, Miller, Andersson, and Glendening ranked low, which didn't surprise me bc most don't have the offensive ability to possess the puck a lot. Not surprisingly either is how low Weiss, Cleary, and Bertuzzi are, all guys that should have shown more offense. These numbers are far from 100% reflective of puck possession skill, but if we were to go off them a puck possession team should ice this forward lineup next year: Tatar - Datsyuk - Nyquist Zetterberg - Sheahan - Jurco Legwand - Helm - Alfredsson/Franzen Abdelkader - Andersson - Alfredsson/Franzen I think most would agree with that lineup or some variation of it. We also have Weiss who's numbers could be much better next year. Thoughts on the calculations or results? It's very moneyballish so take it for what it's worth

    Wings Advanced Puck Possession Stats

Datsyuk is usually among the league leaders. It's kinda cool that Tatar did better than him

    Wings Advanced Puck Possession Stats

Obviously I don't have the time to run the numbers league wide, but it seems that Bergeron, Kopitar, Toews have the best possession stats league wide. Not surprisingly those 3 are also up for the Selke

    Wings Advanced Puck Possession Stats

As it says in the OP the numbers are only for 5x5 play Nope. It's total ice time played

    The Franzen Hate.

Franzen has trade value. I don't want to speculate on what he'd net in a trade bc it's so subjective, but he definitely has value. keep in mind he's been on pace for over 60 pts more than a a few times as well. A guy who plays around a 60 pt pace is well worth 4 million to a lot of teams. Yes his contract is long, but why buy him out now? Buy him out when he actually hits 38 or 39 and completely drops off, if he does. Buying him out now is beyond ridiculous.
  23. number9

So who are the top RHed Dmen?

I wouldn't completely rule out Jensen or even Nicastro either
  24. number9

    Now some gritty forwards.

Seriously thou... Don't talk bad about the Hampus Melen
