Bettman getting a raise (again) 8 - 8,3 million in 2012 - 2013
number9 replied to frankgrimes's topic in General
The twisted part is that we as hockey fans are so loyal that he gets away with these lockouts and earns raises. I wish I could boycott hockey... But like most of u that would require a 12 step program for me :/ -
Except Franzen outshot Cleary 116 to 93 last season and had a higher S% of 12.1 as compared to Cleary's 9.7 And the difference is bigger during regular seasons that arnt 48 games long. The only player that typically out shoots Franzen is Zetterberg. Wouldn't say having a confident shot is the issue at all here.

There's a beta version, but it sounds like it has a lot of bugs.

Anyone have license key they're willing to share? Game is $40!!!

Saying someones angle is lame is a lame angle. The point is: Franzen at $4 > Clarkson at $5.25, regardless of whether u perceive Franzen to float now and then or not. Again, none of you have any idea how Franzen will play at 38. Some players drop off as early as 32 and some can play top lines till they're 40. Of course he'll slow with age, but none of us know which Franzen will be, so it's kind of pointless to speculate. It doesn't forgive anything. No player is perfect. Do I wish Franzen were less streaky? Yes. Do I wish Zetterberg would shoot more? Yes. Did I wish Cleary would fall down less? Yes. Do I wish Sammy wouldn't shoot it directly at the logo? Yes. Do I wish Ericsson would throw bigger hits? Yes. Fact is, lazy or not. They overpaid. We didn't. Franzen is the better deal among those players.

I really don't care about actual paycheck. Cap is what matters in the game.
-
Well I don't own a crystal ball so I really can't say how he'll play at 38. Nor am I a pro scout or coach, so I have no idea if he has a floating problem or if he's even capable of a higher level of play at this point. What I can say is he earns his paycheck based on the stats.

"He lacks fortitude" "He could do so much more" I forgot how much time u all spend on the ice and in the locker room with Franzen. Fact is he gets paid pretty much the exact right amount for how much he produces. I expect players to live up to their price tags and he certainly does. Many of u seem to think he's failed to meet expectations and offer up all these soft amateur interpretations of his play, but the hard evidence is he lives up to his contract. He was also never expected to be a scorer when he entered the league. Then he scored a few goals and suddenly ppl expect Hull 2.0 Fact is the wings saw a 4 million dollar player, and signed him for just that. But then again some of you KNOW he could score 40 goals? Right? Jeez

Sweet sweet music to my ears -
I believe Zetterbergs charity involves smoke detectors for detroiters

Sammy wrecks shop

Preds look pretty set at forward to me. No big names (as always) but decently deep already. Don't think they're interested in Toots McGoots anymore. Yeah shed a few contracts so they can re-up on Daniel Cleary

I'm always disappointed by team USA's jerseys. Meanwhile Sweden always looks amazing and Russia in particular is looking cool this year

http://thehockeywriters.com/detroit-red-wings-mikael-samuelsson-ir-star/ Of course he's not going to be an actual "All-Star", but I'm also of the opinion that Sammy gets to much flack for a guy that never had a chance to show he's worth his cap hit. I think having him and Helm back will really give us some good options at forward. Plus Sammy did play in Florida with Weiss, though I'm not sure how much they played on the same line.

I think they're happy bout the contract, but not about the player

When cup contending teams r all chasing u I understand signing with the one who offers the most (NJ). And obviously that was a good choice as he almost won the cup with them. But then with losing Parise and then all their financial problems I'm guessing he sensed the ship was sinking. Now he gets to go chase the Gagarin cup in his home country, and can return to chase the Stanley again. Plus NJ and all there financial woes gets to shed that long contract

He missed 30 games out of 80, then re aggravated the same injury and missed 40 games. Wouldn't exactly use the word "plagued".

Signed Wings sign Nyquist to 2-year, $1.9m deal ($950k/yr cap hit)

Yeah I'm wrong. Capgeek wasn't working correctly on my phone. Trading eaves and toots should work Alfredssons bonus can be applied to next season? -

Even if we trade Tootoo, Eaves, and Emmerton we're still over the cap Ken has to do something with Sammy or possibly start the youngens in the minors or something -
The X-factor is Howard? How many times does Jimmy have to prove that he can hold his own? He may not have the flash that Quick or other goalies have, but that kid is a workhorse. Never takes a night off. When it comes to reliable goaltending he's right up there with King Henrik and other top goalies. Alfredsson is a 1 year complimentary piece. I'm betting he'll work out great as another veteran swede, but if he doesnt, oh well. He'll be retired in a year. Honestly we're lucky to have him as an option for the time being. Weiss is who I'm most excited about. Watched him since he was 16 with the Plymouth Whalers. Since then I've followed him. He's been a top line center for the Panthers for years with almost no other decent players around him and yet he's preformed (aslo their captain). On this team he'll a well above average 2nd line center.... Which will also allow Datsyuk and Zetterberg to play together so they can get all their sexiness on Whether the young guns step up or not doesn't matter. We have many plan B options. If Nyquist, Andersson, or Tatar don't cut it, we always have Bertuzzi and Sammy to step in. The only real weakness I can pick out is at D. But again most of our D is young and due to become ever better this year and throughout the year. CANT WAIT

Signed Joakim Andersson re-signs, 2yrs, $1.465m ($732,500k cap hit)

63 definitely comes off likes a training camp number, but 36 strikes me as a goalkeepers number. Maybe he'll switch to like 23 or 26 or something along those lines. -

To me it's not too surprising to see the Sens losing money. They're a team that's never really done much, that's also sandwiched between the Leafs and the Wings geographically, AKA two of the most popular franchises.... Especially of that region
