Used to watch Weiss play for the Plymouth whalers all the time. Very talented. Bet he would do really well on a team that isn't the panthers, especially here in Detroit with dats and z
-
Yeah I wouldn't call kronwall a build around player either
-
You call me a fool and then list Boedker as someone you'd build a team around? Really? You build teams around franchise players/legit stars, not ladislav smid lol. Of your list I count about 26 stars. So on average about a little over 2 each year. Nice try though.

Reality: no buy outs. No trades. Miller and white let go. All RFAs, brunner, and cleary re-signed. No additions unless Filppula walks.

Max is 5'9" 194 lbs at 18. He'll probably end up around 5'10 210lbs as he grows. Not far off from zberg or dats. He's also incredibly more talented than his father, but also plays with his fathers fearless energy. Not a player to build around? How many 1st round players have been built around rich? Maybe 1 or 2 a draft? If hes another yzerman, awesome. if hes another lapointe, awesome. Your expectations are unrealistic, as are your evaluations of the guy.

Malkin extended by the pens. So much for that pipe dream

How bad would it suck for Mursak to get it, only to go to the KHL next season

Abdelkader named 1st line RW of team USA -
He'll get too much money this summer. We won't have the money. Not that he'll be worth it at 35 anyway.

Any good prospects fall around 18?

My problem is Dekyser has played all of 11 NHL games. Yeah he looked good during that stretch, but I'm not about to say he's going to run our blue line for the next 15 years. For all we know he'll play like the coveted Brendan Smith next season... Smith also had a good first stint in the NHL when he was called up last year. I think Dekyser still has a big question mark on his head. Bigger than Goose and Tatar
-
Wow surprised so many chose DeKeyser. I heard experts saying he's about at the level of Justin Schultz, if not less than Schultz. Of course Danny is more defensively inclined and Justin is more offensively inclined. I chose Tatar. To me he's already at about the same level as Nyquist and has a higher ceiling to grow. He's also more of a shooter and slightly more physical than goose, two things we need. To me the top 2 should be Nyquist and Tatar hands down right now

I believe Billins is under contract with Grand Rapids, not Detroit. I'd throw Marchenko and McKee onto that list too -

Torey Krug is the man. Wish the Wings would have signed him when he was in our backyard. Go Green -
http://thehockeywriters.com/the-detroit-red-wings-daniel-cleary-may-be-sent-packing/ Bump Cleary haters might get there wish if there's no room for him at the end of the season.... Very much depending on how much are young guys are worth of course
-
Edler and Kassian is about all I'd be interested in. Problem is Edler is the keystone to their blue line and they're unlikely to move him, and Kassian is young and part of their reset, so also unlikely to be moved. I'd entertain Bieksa though.

If the great one can be traded, Ovie can lose his C. But yes, it probably won't happen
-
I'd strip him of the C. This isn't the first time.

Average top 6. Young and rookie packed bottom 6. Average defense. Not very tough across the board. Howard has been a shing star when you consider all that

I agree. This season has been tension filled and exciting to say the least. I don't necessarily agree with all the contracts from this off season, but this rebuilding on the fly business will be masterful if successful. As of now we've only had a taste of the prospect pool... and so far the taste has been delicious. Nyquist, Tatar, Andersson, Lashoff, Mrazek, and Dekeyser, even in their limited roles, are all looking like career NHLers. Plus Ericsson and Kindl have begun to blossom. This season has only reaffirmed my belief in the Wings eye for talent, and we haven't even seen the Jarnkroks, Jurcos, Frks, Sprouls, Ouellets, Backmans, Sheahans, or Marchenkos yet. the future is bright in hockey town, playoffs or not.

Coached Canada to a gold medal and will likely coach Canada again. Only way he leaves is if he wants to leave, and theres no way he trades an original six elite NHL organization for NCAA hockey This speculation certainly is "Wild"

The Franzen hate needs to end. I know his contract is a little long, but for the cap hit he's a bargain at his production level. Not every scorer can produce as consistently as Stamkos and other ELITE guys can. Franzen, like most scoring types, is streaky. Does he amp it up to the next level in the playoffs and such? Yes. Does he completely take nights off like 2011-12 Ovechkin/Semin? No. We've been spoiled by the Yzerman's and the Datsyuk's. Not all players can be that perfect. I'm happy to have Franzen on this team. Now Quincey....
