I think Billins is on a AHL contract, not a NHL contract

    Everyone chill out!

Fact that Helm and Bert were out also does matter. Helmer is our clutch 3rd line center and bert is a big body we could have used in that game. We probs still would have lost that game thou....

    Everyone chill out!

Not saying they lost because they were out hit. To me it looked like we got pushed around A LOT. We need more guys who will push back, like Tootoo.

    Everyone chill out!

Blues are one of the better teams this year and I could easily see them in the finals. They physically dominated us which I think validates the Tootoo signing. At this point though I wish Holland had chased Prust instead of Sammy. Still just one game though, not losing my head just yet
  6. Straight up. If we had a full season this year and missed the playoffs, a lot of blame would have been on Holland, and rightly so. But with this shortened season he kinda has an excuse if they miss the playoffs. A lot of bad teams will be making it, and a lot of good teams will be missing it. Sprint.

    Wade Redden

Truth. Even in a few years when we have new players that Yzerman didn't work with when he was here, he'll probably claim them. He knows the Wings have the best eyes for talent.

    Trading up in the draft...?

No way. I think we're far more likely to trade our draft picks for an already established NHL defenseman. Even a #1 or #2 pick doesn't guarantee NHL readiness, and the need is now, not in a year or two.

    Wade Redden

Redden can't move the puck anymore, isn't physical, and is old and slow. Retire already Wade.

Mark Fistric traded to the Oilers

Edmonton still has a lot to prove. Like somebody said: they're like the Lions f hockey right now. I'll believe it when I see it.

TooToo - the lovable little Tasmanian Devil

I called this back in the summer but I want to repeat it. Tootoo will be a beloved Wing soom enough. He is a hardworker on the ice and gentleman off of it. Meant to be a Wing. Fan Favorite.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Mini-Hossa/Better-Hulder (Brunner) Young-Filppula (Nyquist) - Filppula - Franzen Bertuzzi - Helm - Cleary Downey (Tootoo) - Abdelkader - Samuelsson looks pretty dope to me

    Knuble Good Fit For Wings?

Another forward? With Eaves, Emmerton, Mursak, and Miller already forced out of the lineup, and Nyquist, Tatar, and Andersson pretty much ripe I don't think a Mike Knuble is the answer. Signing him would leave us with a 25 man roster. Isn't the max 23?

Would you trade Jimmy Howard for an elite forward/defenseman?

Not the right time. Only when, and if, Mrazek is poised to become the starter. Which he is not right now.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Brunner --- a chimpanzee on skates could perform with Z and D feeding him Goose - Filppula - Franzen ------- decent 2nd line Cleary - Helm - Bertuzzi ------------ like someone said "will feast on other 3rd lines" Tootoo - Abby - Sammy ------------ grinding with point production

Visnovsky files NHLPA grievance to void NYI trade

If he was still in Anaheim I bet he would be back stateside for the season. Seemed like he really just didn't want to go play on the island. While family I'm sure is a factor, it seems like he's just using it as his story so he doesn't have to stay, no I really just don't to play for that crap team. Nabokov situation. IMO

Fil - Pasha - Mule ------ SNP - PLY - PWF ------ Fil looks like he's becoming a more confident shooter Goose - Hank - Brunner -- PLY - PLY - SNP ------ Need another PWF Cleary - Helm - Logo ---- TWF - GRN - TWF ------ Good 3rd scoring line Tuzzi - Abby - Toots ---- PWF - GRN - GRN ------ Physical line with scoring touch Really liking the bottom 6 out of all of this. I think our bottom 6 could be our game changer this year. I think a lot is riding on how Goose and Brunner perform, obviously, but also Fil. Whether he continues to produce at a high level or not will be big.

Visnovsky files NHLPA grievance to void NYI trade

I saw stuff on twitter saying that the KHL intends to honor the current NHL contracts. Meaning they will bar Visnovsky from continuing to play for Bratislava. Whether they actually do that or not remains to be seen. Lubomir could always just not play at all as well. He's shown he's very anti-isles at this point, and I doubt NYI really even wants him anymore. If they were smart they would trade him to a cup contender and get their 2nd round pick back, but they're not smart. The trade that brought him there in the first place was dumb on NYI's part. What does a 36 yr old vet have to offer a rebuilding team anyway? They already have Streit as a vet presence. He should have been traded to a cup contender to begin with. Would have gladly moved a 2nd round pick to bring to the D. Guess the Ducks would rather have a late 1st round pick than an early 3rd round pick though.

If Filppula can continue to get better and become the next Datsberg, that would be perfect and he could center the 2nd line. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Brunner Nyquist - Filppula - Franzen If Brunner doesn't bust that top line could be one of the most lethal in the NHL. The 80-100 pts people are talking about.

Breaking the bank for Pietrangelo next year?

No way in hell the wings break the bank on him. He's a top D-man, but he's no Lidstrom or Chelios. Especially while we have Ouellet, Sproul, Marchenko, Dekeyser, Backman, McKee, Almqvist, Jensen, De Haas, Nicastro, and Nedomlel in the mix. If even a 1/4 of those guys turn out to be anything our D is golden in the next few years....on home grown contracts to boot. For once Red Wings fans can be excited about prospects. We are used to only a few good prospects at a time... Kronwalls, Filppulas, Hudlers... but now we have a lot of good prospects in the works (And we are still a playoff contender) (Yeah the Wings are awesome) So glad our down year means we are only a "bubble team". For most other teams that means missed playoffs, but not us. With the shortened season we could easily sneak into the cup. And if we don't take the cup we still have so many players to look forward too.

Nyquist and Miller are 2 very different players. Miller will never play top-6 but excels in the bottom-6. Goose is pretty much top-6 or bust. Right now we have an abundance of Bottom-6 players...and that means players like Miller get forced out. Top-6 is more important than bottom-6.

Bert, Sammy, and Cleary would all be "ok" in a top-6 roll, but would be AWESOME in a bottom-6 roll Nyquist and Brunner would be at the very least "ok" in a top-6 roll, but would be TERRIBLE in a bottom-6 roll Long story short, Goose and Brunner are in my top-6

Franzen is NOT a sniper. Franzen is a power forward with no snarl. Most wings have no snarl these days though.
