Sacrifice the full season to guarantee Bettman's removal?
number9 replied to stevkrause's topic in General
A demand is followed by a response. Owners demanded roll backs, players said no. Players responded to a demand, that is all. They initiated none of this. Simple. -

The difference is it's the owners who want change, not the players. Just because the CBA is over doesn't mean you have to change it. The last CBA actually was pretty successful. Yet, the owners want to renegotiate a new one. They're DEMANDING to go back to negotiating table and will lockout the season until that demand is met. The players POSITION is that they do not want to negotiate salary roll backs. They're not demanding anything from the owners. -

? The owners are demanding a higher percentage of revenue and salary rollbacks and the players are saying no. How is that a demand on the players part? -

So glad this kid just keeps getting better. DAMN the lock out! I'd love to see him over here right now, even if he only puts up half those points. -
Seriously? Emmerton territory? Emmerton: Brings speed and 10 pts Tootoo: Brings fighting, agitation, energy, hitting, and 30 pts Tootoo brings way more assets to the ice and tripled Emmertons scoring last year...and Emmerton plays for a high scoring team while Toots played for a defensive team with a terrible forward core. While I think 2 mil is a little high (would have prefered 1.5) I'm still happy to have Tootoo. A bunch of frowards (like Emmerton) will be traded to make room for Toots once the season starts, it's obvious. Love how you brought up this irrelevant Polar Bear thing as an excuse to whine about Tootoo and his contract. I think the lockout is driving everyone a bit nuts

Can't he just bail on it? I know the NHL and KHL have signed agreements to respect each others contracts but they still don't really follow that.

Z doesn't want to play wings hockey, Z needs to play wings hockey

Vote to get Griffins games on Fox Sports Detroit During Lockout
number9 replied to chances14's topic in General
voted for college hockey....though i put in other comments that the griffins were my #2 choice....we need to get everyone on here voting....i do not want to watch preseason b-ball or classic games lol -
I think Vlad is one of the only non-legendary players that you can even compare to Lidstrom, positioning wise. Lidstroms positioning is indeed better though. Vladdy got more done with fear and intimidation, whereas Lids got it all done with vision and smarts. Vlad is definitely the better hitter though....arguably the best ever...i'd put kronners in the top10 best hitters though

I voted for Fetisov....He's arguably one of the best Russians to ever play the game....he came here at the tail end of his career so he wasn't in his prime when he was with us, but if the question is "who is the best player?" and were looking at their whole career, not just with the wings, its gotta be Fetisov. Fetisov is often grouped along side guys like Kharlamov and Tretiak. if were looking only at time with the wings it's Feds hands down. Id put Feds as a very close second to Fetisov thou, even when looking at whole careers. If only the impaler hadnt gone down....i could see him becoming one of the best D-men of all time, and possibly better than all the other names here. his defensive abilities were out of this world to say the least. Lidstroms positioning meets Kronners hitting

White is the s***... definitely the better jersey...and it allows other teams at the joe to wear their respective colors for the fans thou we are the RED wings so i understand the red at home argument. still support the white thou, wish we still did it like that

CHL, Other Junior Leagues Look to Ban Fighting
number9 replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
didn't know we were playing soccer Drastically change the game I grew up playing? my father grew up playing? and his father grew up playing? no thank you. hockey without fighting ISNT HOCKEY. its a domino effect.....changing the fighting aspect results in shifts in many other aspects of the sport as well. If you can't take the fighting to the point you need to never see it, GO WATCH SOCCER -
Wings to Europe: Tracking which DRW players are playing where
number9 replied to evilmrt's topic in General
I would think that's because they know the NHL is locked out and so they know they don't have to pay him ridiculous figures to lure him back to Russia.....he's playing in Russia whether he makes 5 mill or 10....so they offered 5 -

Should Kronwall have to answer the bell for his hits?
number9 replied to Red Wings Addict's topic in General
My boss is friends with Shawn Burr and he was telling me that during a big on ice brawl one time Burr hit Gretsky.....the next time the two teams played the Wings coach sent Burr out on to the ice without Probert or Kocur..... and when Burr saw McSorley matching up with him on the puck drop he realized he didnt have Probie or Kocur with him and he tried to skate back to the bench....the Wings coach apparently stopped him from getting back on the bench and told him "You need to learn that you don't hit 99"... he then preceded to have his face pounded in by McSorley....just shows how much respect they had for stars back in the day and how well the enforcer system actually worked. I mean a coach allowed his own player to have his ass beat for being a little rough with an opposing star lol gotta get rid of that instigator rule.....do-gooders think theyre helping people but they're just destroying the sport we love, the sport our parents loved, and the sport they're parents loved.....my kids won't even know what real hockey is by the time the baby-proofers get done with it -
Should Kronwall have to answer the bell for his hits?

So the NHL has been around since 1917....almost 100 years.....and thousands of fighters have taken to NHL ice in that time, and you have a list of 6 players???? I know there have been a couple of unusual tough guy deaths recently....but those deaths are just that....NOT USUAL. And most of those suicide deaths were guys who struggled with addiction, not to mention you have no idea what other problems besides addiction that they were dealing with in their personal lives as well....yet you wanna pin the whole suicide on the fact that hockey allowed him to get hit in the head a lot? Sorry but even if I was anti-fighting I would still call this a very poor argument. The enforcer system was the best system out there. It was run and facilitated by the players and coaches themselves and worked better than the system in place today. Enforcers made sure dirty crap didn't happen and if it did you got punished for it. Then the enforcers also had their own little side game...which was the heavy weight bouts that were just as much for the fans as they were for themselves...You had big name fighters like Probie and Domi who would square up just to see who would win that round and prove that they are the bigger, tougher, better fighter....you would have thought they hated each other but they actually had huge respect for each other....these were big, tough, nasty.....yet honorable men Nowadays guys are running everyone, slamming heads into boards, hitting to the head, flopping, the list goes on and on. And the NHL keeps trying to make more and more and more rules to stop it....but you can't stop it. Let the players handle it, they did a better job at handling it than the NHL has, despite their best efforts. Let them handle it, they know best... instead we have baby-proofing do-gooders stepping in and telling them how to play their own sport. In the players poll last year it was something like 99% of NHL players said fighting should not be removed from hockey....they want fighting just as much as the fans do. It has a place....even in this post-lockout league. And don't get me started on your fighting versus hitting argument....by your logic we would have to remove hitting as well....anddd just as many if not more health concerns arise from hitting, just not as many to the head. -
I'd call Sproul and Ouellet two way guys, they'eve shown they can be pretty defensively responsible thus far

I used this video once before (when Maj went completely nuts over the Tootoo signing lol) so i hate to use it again, but I feel like it perfectly describes how I feel right now. Bettman is going to kill hockey ((((( the only good I can take from this is maybe the league will go back to pre-lockout style hockey, but knowing uncle gary he'll only make it worse again ((((( I seriously don't know what I'm going to do with myself this winter without hockey. I'm already losing it over here and it's only August (((((
