    Changes in the offseason

i agree. i think holland will be very careful of the decisions he makes. especially with this particular FA class, as it is not the best class ever. at this point hes got to rethink his plan and make some small but masterful moves. personally, id replace raffi with wisniewski and give kindl (or maybe even smith) saleis spot. then id wait to add a forward and another defensemen till next year..... although i am partial to wolski trying his luck here. if wolski turns out to be a dud and wisniewski a fluke, theres always next year. patience is key. i dont think theyll be a a cup in detroit next year as some have already predicted, but retooling for coming seasons is what needs to be done. patience.

    James Wisniewski

just found out that wisniewski's uncle bily dea played for the wings back in the 70s. bily dea also served as assistant coach and interim head coach in the 80s for the wings. all the more reason to love the wizzzzzzzz

of all the d-men the two ski's are the best and worst choices, wisniewski = best. jovanovski = worst.

i personally love both of these incidents. the avery incident shows he doesnt take s*** from other teams. and apparently seabrook and him were really good friends when wizzy was in chicago. so it shows that wisniewski is all business on the ice, will defend his team (even if the other guy is a close friend), and sees himself as a lil bit of an enforcer.

smart defense can be taught. the red wings r superb at that. maybe lidstrom will teach him a thing or 2.

I grew up in plymouth-canton and always used to watch the whalers play when wiz was captain there. the dudes got a lot of talent all the way around. he just doesnt have the size like bieksa does. i think the canadiens discovered just how good he can be, but unfortunately for them the wings r gonna be the ones to truly capitalize on him . he learned how to play from martin lapointe as well. the dudes too perfect for us. he made remarks when he played for chicago that ppl on the team gave him s*** for being from detroit, and that he just had to keep his mouth shut and pretend that he hated detroit too. ive heard hes very interested in playing for detroit now that hes an FA and raffi is gone. everyone was a ****** in highschool. the dudes 27 now and ive heard hes nothing but fantastic in the locker room. funny like pronger, but without the douchiness and multiple prison sentences. I'll be really surprised if holland doesnt pursue him

    Kaberle

wisniewski is by no means bad on defense. yeah hes small, but he can play D. He was minus this year because he played with the islanders lol In montreal he was able to play much better. hes a career hired gun. a ringer.

Ken Holland: Open to trade to replace Rafalski

WIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ hes a detroit native, former plymouth whaler, was mentored by martin lapointe, and just had the best season of his career. i personally think that suter and weber are the best defense pairing out there right now. id keep those two together if i was nashville.

Leino, Flip Snr who's next years surprise pick up?

I feel like we were a bit to blame for Leino though. I mean, we tried to use him in a grinder type role and hes clear far from that.

    James Wisniewski?

Wisniewski had a fantastic season with NYI and especially with MON. I believe he finished 7th in regular season scoring for defensemen league wide. Hes an offense threat from the blue line, aggressive on defense, and could be ready for an even better season next year. Montreal has a plethora of defensemen who will all be healthy again next season, and rumor has it that the wiz may be going back to free agency this summer. With Lidstrom considering retirement, salei possibly not being resigned, and kindl not showing immediate promise, could the wiz be a good pick up? Hes a Detroit native, played for the plymouth michigan whalers (where he won numerous OHL awards) and he lived with and was mentored by former wing martin lapointe. He also doesn't mind dropping the gloves, which is something the wings may need. To me he sounds like a no-brainer, and someone the wings should definitely pursue if he does go to FA. Obviously he doesn't compare to nick, nick is irreplaceable, but who else out there is a better choice than james right now?

    James Wisniewski?

wisniewskis minus is from playing with the islanders. hes plus 4 with the canadiens during the regular season. so dont worry about the minus....its the islanders lol why bieksa thou?
  21. number9

    James Wisniewski?

brewer and bieksa clearly have the size, but is that the only thing we want? the wiz lacks the size of the later two, but he makes up for that by playing like hes double his size. The guy can hit, fight, and is all around aggressive on defense. He might be able to teach big E a thing or two. Not to mention that E plays well with offensively capable defense partners like the wiz. That being said, the wiz prolly has more to offer then bieksa offensively and possibly more then brewer offensively as well. Who knows thou, he kind of had a break out season this year. So, to be big or not to be big? Problem is, I doubt we'd be able to afford kaberle and wisniewski. So who would you rather have between the two of them? kaberle at around 4,250,000? or wisniewski at around 3,250,000?
  22. number9

    James Wisniewski?

bieksa or ehrhoff seem like the next best options, just because i cant see how the nucks will be able to afford them both. i believe pitkanen and mccabe may be on the market as well

    James Wisniewski?

I'm hesitant about Kaberle, just because it seems he may have lost his touch. But I definitely agree with you on Raffi. I love him but hes simply not worth 6 mil. holland should trade him and kindl for someone who works for their paycheck. I like eaves, miller can be replaced by guys like mursak. And we should bring the wiz to replace salei.
