I'd have preferred a smaller player. A Tyler Johnson type.

New Holmstrom should wear 69 instead of 96 and the back of his sweater should say 'NEW HOLMSTROM'

Jeff Skinner scored 63 pts at 18 and seems to be getting worse as he goes along, now 23. Not everything plays out like it does in NHL15 -
I love how we never talk about retiring 96. Holmstrom is (for the most part) universally loved by RW fans, but at the same time I feel like he gets forgotten in the talk of stars of higher reputation. Spent his whole career here and is probably the best net front powerforward of all time. Much like how Lidstrom was great without playing like a Stevens, Holmstrom was great without playing like a Lucic. Fundamentally sound in every way. Probably why those guys were friends (Lids and Homer that is) Seriously, what kind of hit to his points does Lidstrom take without Holmstrom in front of the net? Not many do what he did at that caliber. I know I'm just being nostalgic now, but seriously what's Homers knock? Points? To me he makes up for that in intangibles. What's Osgoods knock? Great stats but great team? Fedorov? Great all around but bailed? I think a true hockey sav would look at Holmstrom and realize just how massively important he was to the Wings. For pete sake he ended his career as the final touch to the euro twins lines practically

Pulkkinen is the next Ville Leino

For a guy who was that far and away better than the competition in the AHL, it was alarming how ineffective he looked in the NHL.

They're not going to get anything significant

So Blashill says he's going to give Smith and Kindl a chance... and Holland wants the kids to play... so we trade Quincey to allow these things to happen. Smith and Kindl continue their reign of terribleness, and the kids are ok, but not an upgrade over Quincey. In that scenario, which I think is more likely than any of Smith + Kindl + Kids suddenly becoming studs, we neutered our back end just to give some guys a chance? Look when Kindl or Smith inevitably suck again, bench em and play a kid. When Green or anyone gets injured, send in a kid. I realize Q's contract is expiring, but I'm more concerned about keeping players who play well and ditching the players who don't.

Bertuzzi just seems to have the tenacity and grit to make it in the NHL no matter what, much like Abby. I think the Maltby comparisons are very accurate.
-
The reason I can't side with the players is simple: they aren't interested in a partnership with the owners, they want to make the most possible and still not get traded or bought out. This thread is starting to make me feel stupid.

You're not getting it! Kindl sucking + Smith sucking = trade Quincey

What like the whopping 4 he scored last year?
