What's our draft position this year? And best defensemen available
number9 replied to nyqvististhefuture's topic in General
Boy I hope the Wings draft a big bodied boy -

I see your point. But the forecheck is a risky game. if you commit to a heavy forecheck you run the risk of the other team getting more odd-man rushes. I think if we trusted our D more to handle those occurrences we could commit to a heavier forecheck. EDIT: IMO everything flows from the back end. A solid D corp allows the forwards the freedom to play the way they want. Not vice-versa. -

When 5 of your 6 D-men are Quincey, Ericsson, Smith, Kindl, and Zidlicky, I think you need to focus on defense. -
What Corsi/fenwick stat are you looking at exactly? There are many and each paint a different picture.
-
lol that's your argument? Pitt - drafted all their stars Bos - drafted all their stars besides Chara, who really isn't a star anymore, and btw missed the playoffs unlike us Lak - missed the playoffs unlike us Chi - drafted all their stars EDIT: The funniest part of this is the powerhouse and cup favorite, the rangers, you didn't even mention. They traded for for like everyone on their team I guess the ole LA, BOS, CHI, PIT party never gets old, despite the fact that only 1 of those teams is good this year lmao

He spits hot fire -
I think the bottom 6 should be the last of our worries. And further more I think forwards should be the last of our worries. We have a number of top 6 forwards and bottom 6 forwards entering the league the next few years. DEFENSE is still the glaring issue with this team.

My comment was aimed at both FA and trade as well. Who in the last 4 years are you upset about not getting exactly? And as a follow up, what would you have given up to get that player(s)? I think you'll find that addressing those needs is even harder than you admit.
-
How many top pairing D-men and large goal scorers have you seen move teams in the last 4 years? Out of the 1 or 2, we had a 1 in 30 chance of securing them.Frankly, It's not as outrageous that we didn't fill that need as you make it sound.

No? Why would he hurt his new team when he can just wait a month. If he can't commit to waiting a month to "make it all official" then he should probably be still exploring options anyway -
It's at most 4 bud. IMO it's been since Lids left.

First time I've ever agreed with you (no sarcasm)

I blame Holland for Baltimore
-
Mr. I didn't tank his pizza chain until Gordon Ramsay came to fix it for him. He kept chugging at 53% until it was one of the biggest. Just like Holland's doing.
-
Stafford is like Dan Cleary in his prime. So I assume both Holland and Babcock want him.

I'm starting to think you've never had a girlfriend

Matt Stafford

What so we can have two disappointing Staffords in Detroit?

Jim Devellano on Mantha's play: "Very disappointing"
number9 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Mantha came into this year with the expectation that he could possibly step right into the NHL and perform. He was also protected by management in trades as an untouchable. Yet he didn't make the NHL, and was average at best in the minors, often appearing as if he was just coasting. Sure hes at the same point as Nyquist and Tatar in his career, but the later two exceeded the expectations the team had for them, not the other way around. I think the public criticism is well warranted. This isn't a boom or bust prospect that is faltering. It's a blue chip vastly underperforming. I hope it lights a fire under his butt for this summer and next year. -

Perhaps fact would have been a better word than the phrase "something that is true"I never posed an argument about the truthfulness of his comments or debated that, I simply stated they were in fact truth. And that LGW has a problem with that. -

So we agree he didn't lie, good. It's not like he sought out the media to get this off his chest. He responded to a question honestly about something everyone's aware of. I have no problem with that, it's better than some of Hollands shady answers. See I don't mind when guys are honest to the media. Mantha doesn't deserve to be coddled. He didn't meet the high expectations we had for him in his first year. That's just truthful. Mantha thought he was gonna be a wing, he's well aware already about his disappointing season. -
NO, BLAME HOLLAND NOW!

Maybe you should reread the thread. The majority of people have expressed displeasure about Devellano being honest. All he did was say something everyone already knows.
