As long as Kovalchuck and Radulov get paid this doesn't do much for the NHL. Just a bunch crappy Russian hockey players out of a job. Though it might prevent them form being able to steal more stars back to Russia in the future.

Can someone please photo shop Holland driving a tank for my amusement already,?

slava voynov suspended after domestic violence arrest
number9 replied to jimmyemeryhunter's topic in General
I hope he receives a fair and just ruling under due process of the law. Contrary to some people's view on this forum, Slava Voynov is not an animal, he's a human being just like you or me. Innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. -

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

August - THIS TEAM IS GOING NOWHERE! FIRE KEN HOLLAND! TRADE FOR *Insert name* OR TANK FOR MCDAVID! December - No need to make any trades if we don't have to. Let's all just be patient and hold onto prospects and let them develop. In a way I envy them. They truly live in the moment. -
EDIT: The only tea I drink comes from long island I don't even know how that happened. I swear I'm sober right now lol
-
I only drink tea that comes from Long Island myself

I don't think any of us are arguing that. At least I'm not. I just don't understand yours and Frank Grimes man crush on Mcgrattan lol
-
Better go let Babs know then eh?

We seem to be adding more physical players via prospects slowly but surely
-
It's clear Babcock discourages fighting and hits behind the play. Tootoo was that in a nutshell, though I was sure excited to see that when we first signed him lol. EDIT: As Babcock should. And I believe it's his D-men he doesn't like fighting.
-
That's the thing. Heavyweights are history. I love and miss that part of the game too, but the reality is, it just doesn't function like that anymore. Mcgrattan can fight, sure. But he'll never be a Probert, or even a Dmac. He's just not useful in any department besides fighting. He's butterbean with skates on.

If there's a fight at a Wings game, heck yeah I'm gonna be pumped. I love a good scrap. But I don't want a McGrattan on the team JUST because he scraps. He's got to be useful when he's not scrapin too. Take the Smith-Panik fight we're supposed to be talking about. Things got heated and Smith stood up for himself and threw down, atta boy Smitty. I love it. But before and after that fight Smith still brings solid hockey to the team. McGrattan doesn't do that at all. I get the feeling that you guys wanna see more of the heavy-weight bouts like in the 80s, but those bouts frankly have nothing to do with hockey, just two guys fighting over an imaginary belt. Even so, they don't exist anymore! If they did Perry and Lucic would have a formal square off at every Bruins Ducks match-up. The so-called "fighters" these days barely offer quality hockey at the AHL level. Those guys exist purely to put butts in seats. Now if it's guys who will stand up for their teammates you want, I'm all for a Simmonds type on this team. That would be AWESOME. But Mcgrattan is no substitute for that. All he brings is an on ice liability, which means we can no longer roll all 4 lines against whomever. He's not out there protecting Joakim Andersson, he's putting on a spectacle for the fans.
-
And brain damage also tends to only worsen drug and alcohol abuse
-
Are you saying that the current fighters out there are so good that no one dares to challenge them when they're on the ice? Isn't that a perfect system? Not a broken one? Let's remember that the enforcer system was meant to keep the other team honest by basically being in fear of the other teams enforcer. That's not what we're seeing. I think it's much more likely that no one give's a crap about Mclaren or Mcgrattan. Maybe if they learned to actually play the sport instead of just being 4th line plugs with meaty knuckles other players and coaches (and not just bloodthirsty fans) would pay attention.

According to some Kronwall can't handle #1 spot either Highly doubt we show any interests after his comments about Detroit's management. -

Who are we gonna compare to Draper after we trade Helm? Hmm?? Draper was a part of all of those cup teams. Logic follows that we need mini draper to win more cups in the future. -

Not saying he hasn't done good. Only screw ups I can think of that he's made is the Lindback deal and waiving Panik. But he was trained by Kenny after all
