Seems like Brunner just wants to be the big dog where ever he is. He'll get that in Switzerland lol.

Do we need a trade to get our offence going ?

Yandle and Boedker are super overrated. Yandle is Rafalski without the benefit of the RH shot, and Rafalski was not exactly always loved around here. And Boedker is suddenly being super overrated around the league just cause he's available and fans wanna see moves made IMO. He's not at all good defensively, like a bigger Hudler. I think the deal makes us better in the O-zone but hurts us slightly in the D-zone, even with the addition of Yandle. We don't gain much physicality in the deal either. It's like trading softies for softies, but we give up a bit of our future too. I say no. -
*sigh*

12/13 GDT : Red Wings 1 @ Maple Leafs 4 *MOD WARNING POST 198*

I think he just plain had to, and didn't exactly manage his roster correctly. I wouldn't have waived Panik unless I absolutely had too. He's been real good whenever I've seen him. World juniors and minors. I don't want to be an unpopular Holland liker (but I am). Holland has waived guys like Nestrasil and Ritola, never a Panik type. In Kenny I trust. -
Now I see why Fasth was so mad.

It's super douchey, but speaking for myself (and probably some others here who played) when I played in HS I would always take liberties with bad team or when we were winning. It's part of the game. That being said, the red Wings probably would have cut me and for good reason.

I used to fell the same way. Now I think I understand the strategy. Being outside of Michigan I'm now always watching commentators not named Mick and Ken. I always here something to the affect of: The Red Wings are good, but not physical or dirty, so there's no reason to dislike them at all, here's to an honest hockey game. I'm a pro physical hockey-guy, I like to see fights and would love to have a physical nasty bottom 6. But it's quite apparent to me at this point that the Wings are one step ahead of the league. They see, like myself, that despite our cravings for old time punch-em-in-the-face-hockey, that's not the direction the league is going. The Wings are fielding a pure sport team. Occasionally other teams will take advantage of that, but for the most part other teams respect us for how we play the game and most games remain honest. I get that, and like the classiness behind it, but I hatttttttttttttteeeeeeeeee when this kind of thing with Smith happens. I don't want a waste of space Mcgrattan or Orr type, but I would love if someone like Abdelkader or E would step up for their teammates. Unfortunately the league is becoming soft whether we like it or not. Babcock already admits to steering his D-men away from fighting, and from that I'm guessing that he probably doesn't want his team in general to fight. In the long-run it's probably smart that we're focusing on the pure sport of hockey, but as an old-time hockey fan it just sucks to see our boys not get support. Here's a late goodbye to an era.

I think you need to go reread those. Both wanted more money than the Red Wings would give them. That's it. If you want to argue semantics go ahead. Wanting to get the most money you can has nothing to do with attitude. I wish all the best to Brunner. He was decent guy while he was here in Detroit. I can't speak for his time in NJ.
-
You did. But I would still like to know if anyone still supports tanking this team. So I'll ask you Lefty, Tank it?
-
Glad we agree lol My question still stands... that is unless you would rather answer a previous statement of mine?
-
Lol you seriously just decided to quote an older post by me? Instead of the most recent one that I was obviously referring to? That contained an actual question mark? lol Whatever dude, I'll drop it, you're getting too ridiculous for me.
-
Lol and how is that exactly?
-
I was asking a question, not making a statement. Doesn't take Einstein to know the difference... although I guess in some cases it does lol.

So what? Brunner excelled on Z's wing with Zug, just like Dekeyser excelled at western without any Wings. Filppula flopped in a contract year and then wanted a "GUARANTEED" big top 6 contract. Again, there is almost zero difference in both scenarios, yet you're clinging to this self-fabricated idea that Brunner had a bad-attitude while in Detroit. Why?
-
Filppula had 17 points in 41 games during his last season in Detroit. Brunner had 26 in 44. Neither of them earned a spot in our top 6, hence why both were not offered the contract they wanted. There is almost zero difference in both scenarios, yet you somehow have a problem with Damien Brunner time in Detorit and CAPITALIZE random words as if that somehow validates your point. Did Danny Dekeyser have a bad attitude too? He demanded a roster spot before ever playing a single NHL game with Detroit.
-
Please, go on...
-
He'll probablyjust coach Crosby and co and then bolt for Russia *sigh* the NHL these days...
-
Are you crazy? We either need to tank now or win the cup tomorrow. Enough with this gray area.
-
What's his bad pass goal % at? (Assuming you've been tracking this)
-
How often does this actually happen? In reality? Not that much. We've seen a couple major russian stars bolt bc of money thrown at them, but that kind of thing doesn't happen with guys like Gonchar or Tyutin. So unless Marchenko proves he is the next Fetisov tomorrow, I don't see any real reason to be worried about this at the moment. When he starts dominating the NHL and makes a major name for himself I'll start to slightly worry. Emphasis on slightly. After all Datsyuk and the Red Wings have been loyal to each other for years. Red Wings have always done a pretty good job of treating their stars right and keeping them here. Doubt that changes tomorrow. And I'm not surprised Russians bolted from the jokes that are NJ and Nashville. I'd bolt from their too if I was Russian.
-
Can we trade this guy already? Git er done Kennyyyyyyyy
-
No I don't. He wanted to play top 6 minutes and get top 6 money. But Holland kindly said no and let him walk. Happens all the time. So he took his talents to free agency to see if he could get that somewhere else, and he eventually hammered out a deal with the Devils. By your standards Filppula had a bad attitude when he was here.
-
Certainly, I'm glad Holland was smart enough not to get stuck with him
-
I can't speak for how he acted in NJ. Degraa suggested the Wings passed on him over his terrible attitude, and I don't see that being the case at all. He wanted a payday and the Wings (along with a lot of other teams) said no. That's just business.
