I know a lot of people here can't wait to blame this game on the refs if we lose, but before you do, remember that we made two rookie mistakes (the delay of game calls) that led to Nashville goals. The third goal was a mistake on Howard's part, and a lucky bounce for kostityn. You can argue that homer's gaff would not have happened if abby wasn't called for boarding, but also remember that the refs could have easily called a couple on us in the second but did not. We've been playing well, and the refs' performance so far should not be the scapegoat if we lose.

Homer should know he has to be extra careful and adapt to avoid the reputation calls. It is obvious he cannot keep doing what he is doing in front of the net and get away with it. He can complain about the calls all he wants to - it won't change anything. The smart thing would be to adapt his game because the refs sure will not give him any leeway.

The abby call was the only questionable one this period, right? The replay clearly showed homer elbowing rinne - I'm assuming that's why the refs called it. How else have the refs screwed us this period besides the abby call?

It's silly to think there exists a magic line combination that will remedy all our problems right now. Did we not have z and d on a line together recently that fell completely flat?

The only good thing that can come out of this is a wake up call for the lackluster play over the last four months or so.

There is always going to be the element of human error involved. Even if Toronto reviews more plays, people will still come up with conspiracy theories when the calls don't go their way. Instead of the refs, they will just complain about the incompetency of the reviewers. I do not think we would really be changing anything except making the games slightly longer. I'm sure more correct calls will be made, but as Nightfall stated, the wings will get away with less too. I have watched all but maybe five wings' games this season, and we have gotten away with our fair share of calls, just as any team does. It is probably not 50/50, but would you really expect it to be? Human error does not work that way. It is no surprise that every fan base has very selective memory when it comes to bad calls - they will always remember the times when they get screwed more than the times when they benefit. When you are driving in late to work and you hit a red light, do you get irritated and complain? I think most people do, but what they don't consider is how many green lights they made before the red. Selective memory, you only remember the bad things.

If Howard was playing we probably wouldn't have made it to OT.

Does anyone have replays of the Zetterberg and Holmstrom non-calls? I would like to get another look at them, but from what I recall, on Holmstrom's break, the defenseman dove first and then Holmstrom veered to his left and tripped over him. It didn't look like the Chicago Dman initiated contact. And on the Zetterberg supposed "interference," I recall seeing Z pass the puck off the boards to himself. After he touches the puck, he is fair game to get checked/smeared along the boards, isn't he? Again, I think we would all benefit from being able to see the replays, but I wasn't really upset about these "non-calls" as say, the blatant GI on Howard from Saturday. And the hook from Z on Kane was definitely a good call.
