    Joseph Harrington is HORRIBLE

That was an absolutely horrible reversal on the Pollard TD catch. IMO, it's cleary a touchdown and even if it wasn't clear, there's no way you've got "indisputable" evidence to overturn it.

    Stanton Strikes again

I thought Stanton was exceptional for the first few weeks of the season, no doubt. But the Michigan defense (the pressure from the line, specifically) made him look awefully human this afternoon.

Man, I've got a dumb-down myself to argue with you, it seems... I happen to remember me bitching about the call on here when it happened in the game... and I argued the point from that point on. How hard is that for you to understand? I agree 100% with what Happy said.

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

Are you illiterate? There is no "tuck rule" -- ask Tom Brady and Oakland Raiders that. Besides that, Henne never showed a hint of actually tucking it back to his body other than him getting knocked over by the arm of the lineman. It's all water under the bridge, anyway. Hater-boy Drew can sulk for another year.

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

he was pulling it back into his body. Thats the difference. *sigh* Am I talking to a brick wall? He wasn't tucking it in. If you watch the opposite field replay he never made an attempt to tuck the ball at all. The release of the ball was later (meaning the ball was thrown to the ground) because he got smoked in the facemask/shoulder by the Sparty lineman.

Love ya, Sparty. Maybe next year, ok?

    Michigan Vs. Michigan State

If you watched the replay I talked about he wasn't tucking the ball. He got hit in the facemask/shoulder from the swat of the lineman... It's an incomplete pass. How can he 'tuck' it when it flew off his finger tips in a throwing motion? The swat move changed the trajectory of the ball directly down to the line.

That's a bulls**t call on the Henne "fumble". The (albeit blurry) opposite field angle clearly shows him being hit in the motion of throwing *AND* there should've been a facemask penalty on the play. What a HORRIBLE call.

LOL! That guy's my freaking hero now. That bit for GameDay had me rolling... Not so much the bit itself, that was lame... but him and Desmond signing the victors from on high? PRICELESS!

Have to say, that was one helluva game. I do have to call out the OSU fans that were carrying on with the "Hey Vince, we're not Michigan" remarks.... I mean, geez, the Bucks faced a team that didn't have Benson or Johnson or Brown, etc., etc., etc., that Michigan did, either. Meh. Still was a great game. /still licking wounds from an embarassing loss to ND...

Boy, that explains a lot. I do have to say I'm endlessly amused by Sparty fans.

A Good Day In Ann Arbor

And since I'm a "scUM" fan, I guess it's only proper for me to close this thread down since it's a double-thread. We'll keep the Michigan hate-mongering nailed down to one thread this week, fellas.

    Michigan Fans Confessional

I don't believe that for a second. I've never, ever been impressed with Gutierrez and when you've got a stud QB like Henne that's right there, I'd go with him. It's 100% against Carr's mantra, but Henne is *clearly* the best QB they've got. It's not even close. About UM's running game: Grady will get better as the season goes on. Hart started the same way last year (though it was RB-by-committee early on until Hart seperated himself from the back). The Wolverines need Hart, of course, but nothing will matter if the O-line doesn't open up. (I never thought UM was out of it after the 1st half -- not even close. I thought opening up with a strong drive in the 2nd half would help set the tone. For the most part, the offense didn't have a difficult moving the ball in the 2nd half, they just had their brains implode near or in the red zone.)

    Michigan Fans Confessional

Sorry, Tim, but you're sounding awefully ignorant here. Was Michigan overrated? Yep. But they don't have a running back? Please! Do you realize how stupid that sounds? Mike Hart got injured in the first quarter and missed the rest of the game -- he's easily one of the top 10 RBs in the country. Kevin Grady, when all is said and done in his Michigan career, could be one of the best ones to come through the program. Inexperienced QB? How's that? Because he's a sophomore? The kid got plenty of experience last year and I have no doubt he'll be a Heisman candidate in his Jr. or Sr. year. The kid is smart, confident, and poised. (Though he didn't look it today I would hardly say it was because of 'inexperience.') What did Michigan in? A shoddy defense for the first 25 minutes of the game. STUPID mistakes...(Calling out Henne's bone-headed end-zone pass in the 3rd quarter that had the route cut off 3-yards earlier by the ND corner... The fumble at the goal line, the 2,412,421 batted passes at the line.) But the biggest thing besides the mental errors in the 2nd half (when, realistically, Michigan started to slowly take over but repeatedly... REPEATEDLY... shot themselves in the foot) was the ineptness of the offensive line. I can't even begin to count how many times Henne had to throw it away or scramble out of the pocket to avoid the ND d-line's penetration. Kind of reminds me of the Lions... You've got some great players at the skill positions, but everything falls apart if you can't get that protection at the point of attack.

    2003 Draft Picks

That's an interesting point... I wonder if the "Comrie Loophole" would change under the new CBA. Regardless... the Grand Rapids Press has stated that the Wings are planning on signing him during the window.

    Forum Pruning Notice!

This announcement is to just let everyone know that in the coming weeks the forums will be getting pruned: All threads that have not been posted in for 30 days will be permanently deleted. Why is this happening? Consider it some housecleaning. The database that makes up the forums here is huge, and pruning the forums here is the first step in getting the board software not only updated, but it will also ease the transfer of the database down the road.

    Defending Detroit

I was downtown for the first time in a while a week before the All-Star Game (Washington Blvd, to be specific) and there is a TON going on down there. Granted, when I was there the street was torn up and dirt was everywhere, but they were putting in a nice grass median running down Washington complete with saplings and some nice early 20th century style streetlights. It looked great.

Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread

Exactly. And judging by the replays Chauncey just plain missed it more than he was fouled. (And Rip elbowed Parker, not Bowen at the end. Popovich had switched Bowen out on Billups near the end of OT.)

Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread

We could play the 'shoulda, woulda, coulda' game all night... If Chauncy hits his driving layup with the Pistons up by two late in OT then Horry's shot doesn't give them the lead. Spurs would've been reduced to a quick two and fouling (which is what Miami went through in Game 7.) That said, it was a great game and a tough loss. And I *will not* count this team out. I thought they were done after dropping the first two in this series and they proved me wrong. They've proved me wrong too many times in the past for me to question their resiliency. Hey, all it takes is a close win in Game 6 and all bets are off for Thursday night....

Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread

The FT numbers didn't bother me -- the Pistons weren't nearly as aggressive driving the lane as the Heat was. (Check the points in the paint for an idea.) The Pistons did get agressive late (when, early on, they were hitting their mid-range jumpers, so the necessity to drive regularly wasn't there), and were rewarded at the line. Should be a helluva a Finals...
