The fact you're wasting time arguing it is stupid. But it is good for a laugh, so I'll give you that. As I said in the original post, I recall that shift as a result of a partial line change and NOT something that was intended late in the game. I don't see how Babcock is going to go and shuffle the power-play units 2 games into the season regardless of what was going on during the game. Each unit is the Red Wings' top two lines and if he's not going to shuffle the main units there's even more reason not to do so with the power play. The only reason it was "together" on Thursday was due to the extra attacker. It isn't "extreme" when taking into consideration some of the posts here over the last three days and mindfly's occasional penchant for left-field posts in the past.

Ah, but did you play him?
-
The bottom line for me is we're 120 minutes into the season. 2 games. If you're going to rant for changes then wait until you've got at least a good test sample. Two games is NOT it.
-
Sure, it's subjective. Lots of things are. Hell, I'd guess that being considered "irrational" or "rational" in the general sense is "subjective" then, too. Let's not argue semantics -- it's stupid. When Babcock makes wholesale changes to his lines (that includes the power play) -- then get back to me. One shift in a game isn't a permanent change. I'd have to go back to the recording, but at least once was because of a partial line change that made it appear they were put out on the ice together.

There's rational criticism and irrational criticism. I'm seeing more of the latter. Am I happy about the Red Wings' play to start the season? No, it's left a bit to be desired in all areas. Having said that, it's nothing that doesn't get fixed a few games into the season. Kinks work themselves out, the squeaky wheel gets the grease, etc... But by no means is it "SHUFFLE THE LINES! TAKE OFF YOUR VISOR, NICK! WE'RE GOING TO LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND!" rants that I've read over the last three days. Some of these posts should get them committed.

Please, PLEASE tell me you're not serious. Is this really a serious question? Is it just really, really late over there and this is something you posted while sleep-deprived?

Good god. Comments like these will make me vomit.

^ This. People ranting that the lines need to be shuffled up two games into the season sound like deranged lunatics. ... and it's October 11th. God help us.

I was in touch with Tony with the Panthers this week and yes, tickets are still available! If you'd like to purchase some for the game, please e-mail me at mattschwartz@gmail.com and I'll get you in touch with Tony Lessel, our representative for the group rate with the Panthers. All told there's a group of around 50 LGWers' friends and family attending the game through this group rate. Don't miss out!

Just so you guys know, I'm also doing a short weekly interview on WTRX-1330am out of Flint on Wednesday mornings around 10:45am. This season will be the fourth that I've been doing with the station and they've been very gracious with plugs for the web site. Listen Live Link

I think I waivered for five seconds or so stalling and wondering "can I say that?"... There was some weird feedback on the line in my ear for the first few minutes, so if I struggled through some answers it was because I was hearing my own voice on a half-second delay back to me in my own phone. It was gone at the end, though. Hope it sounded halfway decent and the talking-out-of-my-ass was at a minimum.
-
I'll be okay, although I tend to talk a bit too fast at times. I've been doing a radio thing with WTRX in Flint for a while now (this'll be the 4th season and the first session was this morning), so the jitters are gone. I'd like to think so, anyway!

Make that 4:30pm. Meetings, meetings, meetings. Lovely way to spend the afternoon...

The posts here made me think, too, that in BOTH of the Red Wings' losses in that series there was some incredible hockey. I've already mentioned my thoughts on Game 5, but there was that 8-10 minute stretch in the third period of Game 3 that was endless, end-to-end action. To me, removing the two games the Wings lost would be a detriment to enjoying the whole package that that series was.

Random observation: So, would it be reasonable to assume that all of these Chelios SCF jerseys are lying around because Chelios failed to actually wear any (but one) of them in the SCF? I kid, I kid...
-
I don't. Especially Game 5. Even though the Red Wings ultimately lost that game it's right up there with one of the single-most riveting games I've ever watched. Period. It was a fantastic game, despite the outcome.

We're still a bit more than a week out from the start of the month, but I finished it early (for a change!)... Click Here to Go to the Download Page Enjoy!

The wallpaper has been updated to reflect the addition of FSN's three away HD broadcasts.
-
Pack up the season.
-
Those will be added shortly. By rule all of the Red Wings' home games are broadcast in HD, and those are the ones that were listed on the wallpaper when it was released originally.

Huh? Redmond was just on WRIF this week... When they called Mick prior to set up the interview he had to be called in from outside because he was stacking wood. Maybe the Habs commentator -- who's been talking out of his ass most of the night -- misspoke to earlier this summer, when Redmond underwent (successful) chemotherapy.
