I understand that, but the "two-way" sense, in my book, would only apply for the 1st year of the contract, as he is still waiver-exempt for that time period. I would assume the "two-way" part in pay would also only qualify for the 2008-09 season, not the duration of the entire contract. (At least I would hope not, in the case of Ericsson's agent.)
-
The whole "two-way" deal doesn't make sense to me... Regardless of what Ericsson signed -- barring a no-movement clause -- he would've been eligible to be sent to Grand Rapids without clearing waivers based on his NHL experience to date. Same with Jimmy Howard.
-
Appears to be a one-year deal for Howard. He'll remain a Group II next summer.
-
It's on the NHLPA's web site: It's official. Ericsson's highly likely to have the 3-year, $2.7-million contract that was reported in Aftonbladet since the 08-09 salary is identical. During the summer it isn't uncommon to see RFA and lower-tier Grand Rapids-level signings not get reported on the mainstream press first. This is the best time of the year to cherry-pick signings off the NHLPA's web site.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the Salary Cap Chart & Contracts page here on LetsGoWings.com has been been given a facelift for the upcoming 2008-09 NHL season! There you'll see where the Red Wings' stand in relation to the salary cap now and throughout the season with regular updates that will track how much the Red Wings have in active working cap space as the season progresses. In addition to a cleaner, easier-to-read layout, the charts keep some of the same aspects that made it popular last year: the charts are completely sortable, be it by name, position, jersey number, cap number, daily hit, seasonal salary, etc. You can also view a quick contract information (such as date signed, bonus eligibility, etc.) by hovering your cursor over the player's name. Want to view their profile? Click on the name! Not yet featured on the page is the Active Salary Cap Summary, which will track how much the Red Wings have spent toward the cap as the season goes on, along with projections on how much space they'll have left at the trade deadline (based on the roster at the time of the update) and at the end of the regular season. Speaking of the Player Profiles mentioned above -- they're all completely updated for this season! New features this time around are individual Player News trackers, a Youtube Video feed to grab the latest videos related to a player, and sortable career regular season and playoff statistics! Profiles for some of the Red Wings' prospects currently under contract will be added shortly, so stay on the lookout for them -- and other updates coming to the site this summer!

I liked it, I was only disappointed in that there was absolutely no mention of Franzen missing that six-game stretch and no highlight from Game 6 of Stuart pasteing Crosby. Really wanted to see that. (Again... aaaand again.)

Not surprising and pretty much expected with the way things have shook themselves out this summer. Hopefully Ericsson can put together a season like Kronwall did a few years back.

I just got word that the Stanley Cup may be making an appearance at a bar called Aj's Doolittle's in Lambertville, MI tonight at 7:00pm. I can't be 100% positive of that, but the word does come from a reliable source. It's near my old stomping grounds (near the MI/OH state line) but I won't be able to make it down there tonight. I'd love to get word from some members here if it's actually there tonight. I know there are a lot of members here in the Toledo area, so here's your chance! Here's a map/directions link: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&hl=en&...mp;t=h&z=16

Awesome! Hopefully I'll get a chance to see it this summer yet. Sadly, I've still never been close enough to touch it or get a picture with it -- just a hundred or so yards away in Hart Plaza during the 1997, 1998 and 2002 parades.

This is based off the July 2nd radio interview on WDFN with Holland, which was originally posted here: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...0&p=1416542

I'm not positive, but I believe one of the owners knows someone in the Ilitch family. Take that with a grain of salt.
-
I've never been to the bar, so I don't know the age restrictions if they have any. The Cup isn't in Cali -- it was in Birmingham yesterday evening.

Your correct -- he's in Slovakia, or was at the time of the signing itself. I haven't heard anything regarding any additional press conferences and considering it'll be nearly a week after the fact it'd be redundant.

No comments on the shirt from Mr. 7 Mrs. Hawaii?? For shame! Oh, definitely. I'm stuck deciding on what one to get for the younger one (Ava), who turns 2 later this month... Dora? Disney Princesses? Such a dilemma!
-
This is my oldest, Ella, who just turned 3 at the end of May. She officially "fished" for the first time over the weekend and made her old man thoroughly proud. (Seriously, I was beaming!) Yep, she's rockin' the Barbie fishing pole.
-
You're kidding, right? To my knowledge, there hasn't been one of those for several years -- so please, stop just making things up on the fly and then playing them off as "uh, you named them." If you're going to state it as fact, name names.
-
Really? And who would that be, outside the odd first- or second-year player that has an apartment right next to the Joe?
-
Now re-pinned! Act fast, everyone! The NHL schedule is set to released within the next week and there's no limit on the number of people that can take advantage of this great offer!
-
It could potentially throw a wrench in things, sure. Chelios doesn't have the "luxury" of having performance bonuses tied into his contract that could be bumped to 2009-10 because the CBA can technically expire after this season (though everyone is certain it will get extended.) So if Chelios were to get bonuses, the Wings have to allow space for those bonuses to be hit next season, whether he hits them or not.

Just to be clear, Shanahan hasn't played here yet. (Away in 2006-07 and the clubs didn't meet last year.) But I think the point would be valid eventually, anyway: Shanahan wouldn't get booed here. The Fedorov boos the last couple of years seem more novelty-based than any kind of genuine vitriol.

It would really suck to do all of those t-shirt logos again... so I'd put in a vote for "stay with 93".
