Where are you actually coming to that conclusion in the articles you have read? In my opinion, from what I take from the articles is that Holland believes Howard's ready for NHL duty but wants to consult the other members of the front office. How in the world is he not a prospect? I'd suggest you look up the definition of the word.

No problem at all with this pick.

I've noted the corrected date of the game: Friday, November 14th. I think that actually works out better -- fly down the day of the game, take the game in later that night and then spend the next day or two tooling around south Florida.
-
That's the only one I know so far. Once it gets close to the end of the month I'd start poking around some of the official sites of some of the other teams... I know that Nashville had the dates for all eight of the Red Wings' games vs. them available weeks before the schedule officially came out -- most certainly for the same reasons that the Panthers' sales representative had his.
-
I don't know the official time, but considering that it's on a Friday night I'd guess a regular 7:00-7:30pm start. I'm still working out the details with the Panthers' ticket rep that contacted me and as soon as I have more I'll post it here. I wanted to see who'd be interested in going -- you don't have to be out of town, Florida residents are more than welcome -- to get a rough idea of the number of tickets requested, potential accomodations, etc.. Those that have already contacted me will get an update shortly!

Interested in a mid-November road trip to sunny Florida? How about taking in a Red Wings game as the defending Stanley Cup champions take on the Panthers? On Friday, November 14th this fall the Red Wings and Panthers faceoff at the Bank Atlantic Center and the Panthers have been generous enough to offer travelling Wings fans group-rate ticket prices and hotel accomodations for those that need them! The tickets are available in the lower bowl "end zone" areas of the arena and will be priced at $97/seat when tickets are on sale to the general public. The Panthers, however, are offering these same seats for $50/seat! The club works closely with the Crown Plaza, located just down the street from the Bank Atlantic Center. The hotel also offers shuttle service to the arena and to Sawgrass Mills, one of the largest shopping malls in the nation! We only need 10 ticket commitments to qualify for the group rate. When the official schedule is released next month expect this game to sell out quickly! Already a Florida resident? Take advantage of this great offer to Red Wings fans! Interested? Please e-mail me at mattschwartz@gmail.com or send me a private message on the Forums (username: Matt)!

The money is there for Zetterberg regardless of what happens with Stuart.
-
Actually, they do -- or they wouldn't be intested in bringing him back, period. I think the lowest the negotations would even start would be $3-million per season.

Expected, but still disappointing. He's done a great job here and the selfish part of me is the "disappointed" part. I'd be surprised if it's a former player that Babcock tabs as a replacement -- I'm thinking a guy from the AHL or Juniors that has a very strong track record for success. I remember some of the opinions here -- "Who?" -- when Babcock hired him in 2005... But look at him now: three years later, a Stanley Cup ring and the head coaching gig for another Stanley Cup contender. Now if that isn't appealing or incentive enough for one of those lower-level guys with a great track record, I don't know what is. I'm sure Babcock will find someone with a "Mc" in his last name.

There's a new sub-forum to check out on the site as of today: Creative & Media Works. Inside you'll find a one-stop place for all of your custom signature and avatar needs, member-created wallpapers, videos, audio clips, etc. Also, we'll be archiving all of the "Photoshop War" threads from the playoffs in this forum!

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...064/1048/sports This just in, the Red Wings are also going to retire the numbers of other NHL greats that have recently done a handful of seasons with the club: Brett Hull, Luc Robitaille, Borje Salming, et al... I really, really hope he was joking about this, or at least the sole reasoning behind it was so dolts like me post a thead about it.

True, but Stuart is coming off a terrific playoff run and won't have any trouble finding a suitor. The problem with Markov is that he severely overvalued himself and held steadfast to his belief until the other "fits" on NHL clubs were filled up with signings. I don't think that'd be the case with Stuart. I hold the same belief as you regarding the California teams, but I'm wondering if the Kings opting to put Crawford out may change his thinking of returning to LA. This could also hold true to the Sharks which finished $10.1m under the cap last season. (For comparison, the Red Wings -- not including bonuses -- finished $4,330,325 under.) And what if McLennan gets the head coaching gig out there? He's already had Stuart as a player. I wouldn't think it'd be a big thing -- why squander more of your career away on an awful (read: Kings) team? -- but stranger things have happened. Besides, it's not like he HAS to win a Stanley Cup for the rest of his career as he's already checked that off his "to-do" list. If the Wings can get him locked up at his $3.5-million salary or slightly above I'll be pleased. I'll be giddy as hell if they can get him in under his base for last year. I think the key is that Holland MUST have him re-signed before July 1st. If he's not he's as good as gone.

Yzerman is by far my favorite player of all time, but when Lidstrom retires he will be "ranked" higher than Yzerman in terms of the game's overall top NHL players. And that's definitely no slight to Yzerman's greatness, it's just a testament to just how. damn. good. Lidstrom has been over his NHL career.

Sorry, couldn't resist...

That's priceless that his cell has interrupted him twice during his speech. Nice little bit of humor in it.

I've debated whether I wanted to post in this thread or not as I plan on posting a "Thank YOU" to you guys (and gals) after the NHL Awards Ceremony next week. From that point I'm going to take a much-needed break until the lead-up to the NHL Draft near the end of the month. It's been one helluva ride this season and this place wouldn't be anywhere near where it is today without the legions of fans that frequent it. Keeps the drive alive to keep making this place bigger and better 11+ years after it was "born", a marriage and 2 beautiful girls later. Thanks!

Yes. I don't know if the stream is going to go until 4pm, but they're broadcasting until then.
-
My DVR's been going since 9am and won't stop until 4pm. That's how long WDIV said they'd be broadcasting when I watched the news last night. Finally got all 6 games of the series moved off my Tivo and onto my laptop last night, too. DVD is next!
-
Really?!?! At what part and what broadcast? I've had the stream running in the background while I'm working, so I haven't been watching the video... This would be awesome to find. Those things have sold like crazy.

... is to break the all-time high traffic mark for the forums. May 16th, 2007, as you may remember, was not a good day. So let's eclipse it this week, if not tonight, so I don't have to have a bad memory of what that 1,546 number represented. Deal?
-
I think the highest I saw was around 896 -- which isn't surprising, because most people were celebrating. That's perfectly fine, haha. Trade deadline will be the next target -- the site got really close to that this season, around 1300 or so simultaneous users.

My equalibrium was all off once I shaved it off sometime around 2am Thursday morning. I kept stumbling into walls.
