Uh, no. She's due now, if the baby doesn't come they'll induce. It isn't a "could be weeks" kind of thing, it's a "will he make Game 2 or not?" thing.

That's what I get for rushing to get this out last night... Fixed!

Food poisoning that induces post-concussion syndrome. That sucks.

Him and Zanon were right on top of the tossed ones last night. Tootoo picked up the large one right away and threw it into the walkway area at the end of the Nashville bench (looked like it actually hit someone in the leg as he underhand-tossed it). He wiped his glove off with a towel and then another one came down not far from the first one. This one was smaller and Zanon started nudging it to the bench area. Tootoo picked up and put that one in the bench as well... then had to re-wipe his glove. Someone tossed one after Franzen's game-winner but I didn't end up seeing what happened to it.

FWIW, CBC's audio has ALWAYS been better than FSN's feed on my TV. It's not even close.

FYI: Nill gets paid on par with what some other NHL team GMs get. He's highly, HIGHLY unlikely to go anywhere.

Finally back around. For the lack of the "3" right after the game -- sorry. I was busy romping around the upper bowl giving random high-fives and making sure my vocal cords were shredded. That said, bullets: - I never really had any doubts that the Wings would win the game. Nashville did nothing 5-on-5 all night -- and even on PP chances -- through regulation and I as 100% confident that if they played the OT the way they did the first 60 minutes that they'd get the OT winner. I didn't expect it that fast, however. - The power play MUST get better. It looked better for long stretches in the game (very active movement, rather than the more passive one we've seen lately) but still didn't capitalize. - MUST FORECHECK. Nashville can't handle it. Enough said. I can't even begin to count the amount of turnovers that happened when the Wings would forecheck last night. - Filppula was one of the Wings' top 3 forwards. Great to see because of his struggles through the first four games. I wonder if one of the coaches had a talk with him, because he was everywhere last night -- attacking the zone, great defensively (see: Franzen GWer) and was extremely aggressive in the faceoff circle. He's pretty streaky so let's hope the goal is a good sign. - Speaking of the goal... I'm shocked they reviewed it. My seats were just a couple rows down right in front of where Ken & Mick are in te booth and even from that vantage point there was no doubt that was a goal. - IMO, winning a game in this fashion (OT, rather than a 1-0 shutout) probably does more for Detroit, IMO. The Predators did hang around but if Detroit puts this same effort forward in Nashville I find it extremely hard to believe that Ellis has another 40-50 save circus act to fall back upon. That said -- Nashville stayed within one shot of tying and did it -- big boost for them.... Only to have it slammed shut less than two minutes into the OT. This series is no way, shape or form over. The health status of both Arnott and Legwand will be a big factor for Game 6, but if the Red Wings show this same level of tenacity and can get some results on the power play I think we'll be able to close this out tomorrow. Here's to hoping. Oh! Before I forget: How did the Joe sound last night? It was incredibly loud inside there last night...

Maybe I'll see some of you bastards at the game tonight? <-- Will yell himself hoarse.

Well, there's your problem right there. That bear must be PISSED. I don't know what's worse, shaving a bear (impressive) or doing it for COMCAST. The horror!

Well, money isn't the issue in this case. I'd have to look up whether it was the Free Press, News or MLive, but I'm pretty sure I saw that money was not the issue for Brunnstrom just because both Vancouver and Detroit had no problem maxing out the entry-level contract. It comes down to playing time and a guaranteed spot on an NHL roster. IMO, Barry's pressing hard for this but if the jump over the pond isn't smooth, maybe some time in the A wouldn't be a bad thing, nor would getting fewer minutes on an NHL roster.... phase him in. The game is quite different over here and you wouldn't want him biting off more than he could chew. Even with the promises that Nonis made to Barry I'd be pretty surprised if Brunnstrom tanks it that they'd be so willing to stick to those promises. It just doesn't work that way. Then again, you never know: He could make the jump as successful as Datsyuk and Zetterberg did -- but they're an exception to the rule.

Heatley: "Hey boy, you look just like a hog... Come on piggy, give me a ride... Looks like we got us a sow here, instead of a boar...I bet you can squeal like a pig!" Crosby: "Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" (Please tell me I'm not the only one that immediately gets the reference...)
-
If Brunnstrom's confident in his skills and ability to make a seemless jump across the pond then there shouldn't be any issues with him signing with the Red Wings. Everyone earns his keep here, in terms of playing time, etc. He won't be any different -- and frankly, that should apply to all teams. Sure, you could get loads of ice time for teams like the Kings, Lightning, etc. -- but they, well, suck. And front office stability is always an issue. Then there's Detroit: Commitment to winning. Savvy negotiation around the salary-cap world. Rock-solid front office. Hard not to like that.

The "dislike" over Kronwall's play is curious to me, too. How long has it been since the Red Wings had a legitmate knock-you-in-to-next-week defenseman playing on the blueline? Quite a while. He's still building up that rep, too. Don't think that Nashville players will be more prone to keeping their heads up when coming through the neutral zone when he's on the ice. I LOVE that facet of his game and it can't be understated. All I hope is that he 1) times them right and 2) doesn't take him out of position.
-
It wasn't anything major, at least by appearances. He was gang-piled on by his teammates after his goal -- that's what caused it.
-
Well, for starters my position here shouldn't have any bearing on how you feel in regards to what I post. After the initial I-want-to-throw-the-remote-though-the-TV moment immediately after Arnott's goal and Erat's subsequent icer, I took a step back and realized the loss for what it was: a loss. I am 100% confident this team will bounce back for Wednesday's game with a greater resolve than tonight and with far fewer mental mistakes that cost them tonight's game. Outside of those two stretches tonight the Wings played a solid road game in a hostile barn. Now before someone replies back "BUT THEY LOST" -- I know. But I also realize that all they'll be talking about tonight and during tomorrow's skate is reducing those errors. Game 2 could be considered a fluke -- but Game 3 proved it was a habit. Time to break it. I do think that Babcock will be more prone to keep Zetterberg and Datsyuk together for Game 4. While that first unit is unstoppable I do think that Franzen-Filppula-Cleary line has some definite potential out there.
-
Though I didn't figure it would need to be said: They'll be fine come Wednesday. No lack of confidence in this team here. Things that may have thought to have been a fluke in Game 2 (quick goals) were shown not to be tonight. It'll get fixed.

Hey, how does the saying go? "You don't start the playoffs until you lose a game..."

It isn't everyone.
