University of Michigan - The upset - The future
Matt replied to RedWingedKitten's topic in Other Sports
That was because Osborne got a nice retirement gift from the good ol' boys club. -
I would be shocked if the Lions brought in a backup that hasn't had at least a series of offseason OTAs and trainging camp to learn Martz's system. Bringing Leftwich here and having himself see the field in the event of a Kitna injury is just setting him up for failure.

Don't be a smart ass -- you know exactly what I meant. Have to love the unnecessary anal-retentiveness. -
Anyone can PM me about entering right now. During the rest of the week positions can only be taken up by returning GMs if they're still active on the site and wish to take part. After that four-day period the spots that remain will be given out to those that have PMed me (but CSs will be given higher priority.) Sorry for any confusion.

Except they have not lost to a Division-II school. -

Gut reaction talking about it yesterday around the bonfire is that I wouldn't be surprised to see this team run the table the rest of the season. Doesn't really matter to me either way -- they still LOST to Appalachian-Friggin'-State. Winning the Big Ten and a BCS bowl does NOT remove the stink of losing to a Div-II (or whatever they're calling it this year) school. End of story. This team and this coaching staff embarassed this program. Someone that sent a comment in to the Free Press hit the nail on the head: "They should all go over to Bo's grave and apologize." Embarassing. Oh -- and Lloyd is definitely done after this season regardless of how it finishes out. I always thought he was done after this class (Henne/Hart/Long) moved on anyway, but he'll probably be getting a nudge out the door instead of leaving 100% of his own accord. -
Stick with Kari.

Just finished the draft and I can't believe some of the guys that were available to me. What do you guys think? QB: Matt Leinart, J.P. Losman RB: Frank Gore, Brandon Jacobs, Edgerrin James, Marion Barber III, Warrick Dunn WR: Andre Johnson, Lee Evans, Donte Stallworth, Bernard Berrian TE: Vernon Davis D/ST: Carolina Panthers K: Matt Stover ------------------------------ I drafted from the No. 5 spot: 1. (5) Frank Gore RB 2. (20) Brandon Jacobs RB 3. (29) Edgerrin James RB 4. (44) Andre Johnson WR 5. (53) Lee Evans WR 6. (68) Vernon Davis TE 7. (77) Marion Barber III RB 8. (92) Matt Leinart QB 9. (101) Donte' Stallworth WR 10. (116) J.P. Losman QB 11. (125) Bernard Berrian WR 12. (140) Carolina DEF 13. (149) Matt Stover K 14. (164) Warrick Dunn RB ---------------------------- If there were a couple of things I could improve upon it's at QB and then depth behind Davis at TE. With Edgerrin and solid WRs available in Rounds 3-5 (and a TE run coming at 6) I couldn't pass them up. I think Leinart at 92nd overall is good value and I just missed out on backing him up with Alex Smith two picks prior to Losman at 116. Was looking at Randy McMichael at TE later, too, but he was scooped up a couple of picks before so I shifted focus to filling my last two positions. Thoughts?

That logo looks better suited for the WNBA -- not the NHL.

<--- Doesn't like our odds against McNeese State. *Looks for a ledge*

I don't think I would call the duo of Johnson and Evans inconsistent (both 1200yd receivers last season) I hope the addition of Schaub in Houston helps up Johnson's lackluster TD total last season. Evans I think is coming into his own and will benefit greatly if Losman builds on his strong finish to last season. As for the running back depth -- yep, there was a reason I stockpiled it. I fullly intend to deal off a bit of that access in an effort to land another marquee WR or top-tier QB if the opportunity presents itself. Pretty soon. The league is actually already set up but I'm waiting on Sportsline for the "pay league". If it takes much longer I'll just scrap that one there and have a 2nd Yahoo one. I'm not sure why SportsLine waits until so close to training camp before opening registration.

There may be an opening in the 1st Annual LGW.com Pucks & Pigskin Fantasy Football league. We're working out to see if an arrangement can be made to keep this GM active -- but if not, I'll need to get a GM for THIS Friday's draft (8pm ET). This team is currently slotted to draft No. 6 overall in the 12-team, snake format draft. If you're able to attend the draft and have FF experience, please make your availability known in this thread. No promises that the spot *will* be made available, but if it is it will need to be filled quickly. Thank you!
-
For those GMs that haven't been to the league page (or checked their e-mail), the OFFICIAL Draft Order has been determined by ProFantasySports.com's draft randomizer utility. Friday's draft (14 Rounds, Snake Format) will start as follows: 1. Team Domination 2. Chase 3. Got Favre? 4. EverydayHeroes 5. Royal Oak Rampage 6. Click Clack 7. Kitna for MVP 8. Heaton 9. Not Matt Millen 10. The Benchwarmers 11. Detroit Bad Boyz 12. Ricky Bobby Good Luck!

Either one would've been fine, though I was partial to the Stick & Rink logo. The official ones....

This is actually the first of the new designs that I find absolutely fugly. I liked the "fan created" ones shown earlier this summer MUCH better.

The FREE Official LGW.com Fantasy Hockey League has been registered. There will be a formal announcement soon. (The draft for that league will be held Saturday, September 15th at 6:00pm ET.) (Still waiting to see when registration for Sportsline's Hockey Commissioner league is made available as it will be the one used for the buy-in league.)

One forum has been split and another moved to help make navigation a little bit easier. The "Video Gaming & Fantasy Sports" subforum (formerly in the Water Cooler) has been split. Video Gaming remains a sub-forum under the Water Cooler (for now), while Fantasy Sports has moved out into a main forum under the "Community Forum" category. The "Other Sports" forum (formerly a sub-forum under the Water Cooler) has also moved into the main directory of forums (in the Community Forum grouping).

Well, you can trust me -- since it IS the site's official league. Entry fees will be likely have to be submitted via PayPal and will be conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Depending on how popular that is, there *may* me another -- but we'll have to see. I love the competitive nature of buy-in leagues since virtually every GM (unless desperately out of contention) stays active throughout.

NFM actually won the LGW Free league last year, unseating Oslo (who was a three-time champ.)
