GS&T -- The Official LGW leagues are limited to 12-teams. We switched to that format last season and it led to a much more competitive league. Overall I think we only had one or two teams that "tanked" after their teams were out of competition. Many members say they are starting "LGW leagues", but only the one I post (and commish) is official. The free league will, again, be hosted by Yahoo. Only a couple spots generally open up in this one as previous GMs are welcomed back season after season. I've opted to also have a buy-in league (I'm going to front the setup cost to try and keep the buy-in cost low for players) and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes. Prizes will also be out for the free "Pucks & Pigskin" Fantasy Football league, which has its draft this Friday. (Gift Certs for this one.)

The site here will be having two official leagues: One is a buy-in, one free. There'll be an announcement once they are set up.
-
The league is now FULL! Thanks to all of you that registered!
-
There are already more invites than the 12 allotted spots that have been sent out. I'll be sending more out for more recent requests shortly. Thanks!

It's an online live draft, guys. I wouldn't request anyone to be physically present -- just don't have a computer that sucks. As long as you can be online and can access the league's Yahoo page on the 31st at 8pm ET, you're good to go. NFM -- It's just like the fantasy hockey draft, yet for football.

No go on this one? Still spots available.

Disclaimer: Yes, I know this is a HOCKEY site. But a majority of us are fans of other sports as well and this caters to those members that are die-hard multi-sport fans. Besides, who doesn't love fantasy football? Registration for the first annual LetsGoWings.com Fantasy Football Bowl is now open! This is a 12-team, head-to-head league hosted by Yahoo. Have questions? Feel free to ask away

I've said it before, I'll say it again: The Joe is a dump. The team needs a new arena, the city needs to expand Cobo and Ilitch has bought up most -- if not all -- of the land necessary for a Foxtown arena. Get it done!
-
Of course not! Great work, Christy!
-
Yep, it'll be updated shortly. It's completely updated in the development site, so this version is "outdated" beyond just showing the month of May. The new calendar features the entire schedule, important dates, team logos, etc. Just finished it over the weekend.

From Ansar Kahn's article this evening: http://www.mlive.com/redwings/stories/inde....xml&coll=1 Devellano said there's no validity to a report in Russia's Sport Express newspaper claiming the Wings are interested in free-agent center Alexei Yashin. He's a talented player, but his effort and desire have been questioned throughout his career. "We have no interest in him -- I mean zero,'' Devellano said. "We would like a top-six winger, but there's nobody out there. We're going to hold the money. Who knows what might happen during the season. We're not going to sign guys we don't like. We'd like to have (defenseman) Danny Markov, but can't afford him. We're not going to panic.''

I like it! Definite upgrade on the previous one.
-
How about answering the question he posed to you? Count me as one of the curious.

Sounds like Jimmy D. Probably the same source that said that Bertuzzi was a player that you wouldn't risk a multi-year contract on because of his back.
-
I agree -- the work that Matt, Lindy & Co. put into researching the Wings' prospects is unparalleled. FWIW, the site is now working for me.
-
I'm not sure, as I haven't chatted with him since his site went down. If I see him poking around online when I'm on I'll make him aware of the thread here. I don't expect this to be any kind of extended outage, however.
-
Matt's been upgrading his hosting package lately. It appears that the DNS servers just need to update across the board (which is why some can and some cannot see the site at this time.)

That quote was comedy gold back in the day. Granted, it's from circa 1994 or so, after the Essensa trade, so I'm sure in the last 13 years that Drake's picked up a few things since then. --- Term and price tag look good to me. The only forward making less than Drake now is Kopecky.
-
I'm not sure if anyone caught the joke: Bowman once called Drake the "dumbest hockey player I ever coached"...
-
Knee-jerk reaction: I like it. As others have said, he's an upgrade over Calder and the cap hit should be minimal. Wonder what Scotty thinks?
-
Should I really have to warn you twice to refrain from dictating what should and should not be posted here?

But -- BUT -- He was watching the TIGERS game tonight and got interviewed during the 3rd inning!! Why is he NOT MANNING THE PHONES?!?! /sarcasm //figured I'd save someone else the trouble

Heck, not using it or GMs having some kind of loose agreement not to exploit it is borderline collusion. I do think it will help quell any ridiculously wild expenditures around July 1st on UFAs -- but someone has to get hit hard first. The Rangers, for example. If Lundqvist would sign a large offer sheet with another club the Rangers could be paying dearly for nabbing Drury and Gomez early on. It won't affect all big-spenders, but it will make some teams think twice. I wonder how hard the Buffalo front office is kicking themselves for not wrapping up Vanek in a nice $4-5M deal recently? Ouch.
