Kelly Chase (Blues Color Commentator): "I know that the Red Wings are very interested in Jamal Mayers." Mayers is currently kicking around a contract extension offer from the Blues, but could still be dealt...
-
Again... He's waived it to go to Pittsburgh.
-
Bump for confirmation (TSN) that Roberts has waived his NTC to join the Penguins.

In 2002 on my previous host the site was getting traffic that was buckling the server every few days... It was a nightmare of unparalleled levels, for sure... Trey informed me that at one recent traffic spike the site was getting 50 server requests per second... you do the math on that. (Keep in mind that some of those requests are bots, too.)
-
Kahn also confirms (last line): http://www.mlive.com/redwings/weblog/

Don't forget that Calder was originally traded for Handzus... Are you nuts? I hope he makes a blind pass point-to-point while on a Chicago power-play and Draper takes it end-to-end and puts a roof-shot past Khabibulin.

I'm late to the posting party, but I like this trade.
-
It ain't busy until you hit four-figures in active users. (And that's happened a few times.) Happens when the Wings get eliminated from the playoffs. Trey's been getting the server dug in for the traffic onslaught that is sure to come at any time, so we should be in good shape.

While I wouldn't go as far as to say not to make a *single* move, rolling the dice on a conditional pick for Bertuzzi doesn't seem so bad, does it?
-
I figured the Wings would make a pitch for him -- and I'd be definitely for it, depending on the cost. As others have pointed out he's all hustle, all the time -- he's a high-energy player with a solid scoring touch. He'd do very well on a second line spot where Lang isn't exactly the most fleet of foot.
-
For starters, if the Blues had asked for Kindl + 2007 1st and the Wings thought it was a good offer, the trade would've been done already. There's a good reason that reports from sources in the organization have said they're NOT trading Kindl. Trade Kindl in a 'hockey' deal? Ok. A rental? Pass.
-
If Guerin means Kindl -- I pass. At this point and seeing some of the prices out there I'm damned near more inclined to take a chance on Bertuzzi and part with a conditional pick.
-
Coburn was for Zhitnik yesterday, Funky.
-
I'm getting a bad feeling Guerin ends up in Anaheim and we're left with taking a chance on Bertuzzi or looking for 2nd-level scoring forwards like Blake, Zubrus or Zednik.

http://thrasherstalons.blogspot.com/2007/0...chuk-trade.html A Trashers blogger has reported that the return is Glen Metropolit, 1st- and 3rd-round picks in 2007 and a 2nd-round pick in 2008. *One* of those picks is conditional based upon if Tkachuk re-signs in Atlanta, but it's not known which one -- though I'd say it should be fairly obvious that it's the 2008 2nd rounder, since Tkachuk could still technically re-sign with the Thrash after July 1st (and, hence, after the 2007 draft.) The report above is NOT confirmed, however.

http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.ph...t=0#entry967824 Bump for TSN confirmation that Tkachuk has signed off on the trade (read: waived his NTC).

Red Wings fans are spoiled. I wouldn't expect the crowd to be overly loud unless one of the West's marquee teams are in town, honestly, until the playoffs start. The playoffs are another matter. I don't think there'll be issues like that then.
-
I'd be shocked if the three finalists aren't Crosby, Brodeur and Luongo. Though the stats may not show it, I think Luongo's been the better goaltender and definitely more of a Hart-worthy (by definition) candidate than Brodeur has.

Why the heck do so many people take the "Red Wings Suck" line so seriously? It's more of a cliche than anything because the team's been great for almost two decades now. Other fans know we don't "suck". It's a joke. It's said tongue-in-cheek most of the time anyway. Wouldn't it be better to slyly quip back "Predators Swallow/Gargle/etc./etc." and keep the joke going? Yeesh. n00bs.
-
I seriously doubt the Red Wings would offer a conditional pick that could potentially be upgraded to a 1st. If there are trades to be made I would assume Bertuzzi would be a secondary one where the primary trade (Guerin, etc.) would gobble up that 1st-rounder.
-
Today I wouldn't trade Hudler for Bertuzzi. After a few games of watching him (Bert) play later this week, that might change. I know Jovanovski's been beating the "Bert to Phoenix" drum since last summer, but other than that has there been some giant reason that Bertuzzi *wouldn't* re-sign here in the summer if he thought the situation was right? Obviously, if he plays well and the back is healthy, there's a great fit for a player of his abilities here, and his contract shouldn't approach what his last one was worth.
-
Sweet jesus that was frightening! (They showed a replay of the hit during the Wings game.)
-
Interesting that Holland keeps saying "we'd like some forwards" frequently during his pre-game interview. I know there was talk of multiple deals if the team got Forsberg but it looks like they're still looking at adding at least two forwards before the deadline.
-
Rumor has it that the 3rd-rounder is a conditional pick that can be upgraded to a 2nd- or 1st-rounder depending on if Forsberg re-signs with Nashville or another club outside of the Flyers. (I haven't seen this confirmed yet.)
