    2006 ALDS: Tigers vs Yankees

I was relegated to the ESPN Gamecast thing, too. It is absolutely fantastic but I freaked out twice in the ninth inning with their little animation thing of the field. You get the little animation of the ball being pitched and there's a .................. pause ................... then this little yellow crawl comes up saying "this pitch has been hit into play" ..................... pause .................... then you see the animation of Cano's hit animation going higher, Higher, HIGHER to left field then it dies out and displays that he's out. @#%$!@$!! That's killer for my heartrate. Freaking Damon's at-bat was the same thing, with the added anxiety that he had already hit a 3-run shot earlier. But man.... It was AWESOME hearing the cars going down the road outside after that last out, honking away, people yelling out their windows. That was great!
  2. If you hadn't noticed already, the LGW.com Forums has added a "LGW.com Ticket Exchange" box near the top of the forum template. Here is where the most recent classified ads have been added for fans looking for tickets, selling tickets, or wanting to trade tickets. The goal here is to provide that forum with as much exposure as possible so that fans are continually aware of what is available in the Ticket Exchange forum that may not normally be viewed.

    Attention RWN HQ

We were over on the far wall using a couple tables that were joined up in front of the glass jersey display case.

Had a great time, guys. Little Ava got a little upset on the way home but was fine once we got here. I have to say I'm very pleased with how the fantasy football team faired today: an 84-26 demolition of my opponent. So having Roy in today instead of Stallworth didn't have a big effect.

    Attention RWN HQ

Okay, who is all coming? Would it be out of the realm of possibility to "delay" the start closer to 5-ish? (It's NFL Opening Weekend and it's hard to pry me from the couch -- and damn near impossible to get me off my butt in the Seattle/Detroit game is actually CLOSE in the 3rd/4th quarter.) Too bad the Wings/Tigers Alumni game wasn't announced sooner. Would've been cool to make a day of it with that game and then Hockeytown Cafe or Cheli's right after.
  7. This message is to let everyone know that the local broadcast schedule for the upcoming 2006-2007 NHL season has been added to the calendar feature at the top of the right column here on the forums. This schedule now includes BOTH the local and national broadcast information. Hi-Definition (HD) and Center Ice schedules will be added when they are available. To use the calendar feature on the right, simply click on your desired month and it will load in the area below. Place your mouse pointer over a specific date and a pop-up window will display the relevant game information.
  8. Zetterberg's OK. I split NN's post into a new thread since the original was more dedicated to speculation leading up to the actual diagnosis: http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37078

Start Times changed for 3 games

As the result of television broadcast conflicts, three Red Wings games have had their start times changed: Games on 10/5 and 10/13 move from 7:30 to 7:00 and 11/8 changes from 7:30 to 8:00. These changes are reflected in the Calendar feature in the right column.
  10. Oh I know, I was just speculating. Bone chips just seems to be a common culprit with injuries that linger or only surface from time to time. (See: Joseph, Curtis) Might be better to get him back and clean it out ASAP if that's the case. Waiting hasn't obviously helped.
  11. The Detroit Red Wings' 2006-2007 National TV Schedule has been added to the calendar feature in the right column of the forums. This schedule includes broadcast dates for Red Wings games on NBC, TSN, CBC and Versus (formerly OLN). It does NOT currently include the schedules for FSN, local FOX affiliates or NHL Center Ice as those schedules have not been released yet. HD schedules for the above networks is also not yet listed, even though some of those games may indeeed be broadcast in High Definition. The same follows for FSNHD. To check the TV schedule of a particular game, simply select the month you wish to view and place your mouse cursor over the desired date. A small pop up window (red = home, black = away) with game information (Game #, Home/Away #, Opponent, Time, TV and Radio Broadcast info) will appear.
  12. It doesn't replace Fischer's physical presence. That's what this blueline corps has been sorely lacking and a guy like Jonsson or Leetch doesn't provide that. Markov may have priced himself out of Detroit and that's what we're left looking at on the free agent market, however. That said, it does look like Jonsson fits the track record, for sure.

    more redwings rumors

    Yes.
  14. Leetch doesn't make one iota of sense unless the team is considering trading a guy like Schneider for cap relief. (I don't think Leetch would get a high salary at all and if Schneider were to be traded it'd result in a cap savings around $1-2M, IMO.) Leetch, obviously, isn't the physically imposing figure or presence in front of the net that Holland has said previously that the team is looking for to "replace" Fischer. Do we really need FOUR offensive-defensemen? Markov, however, DOES make sense. The most of any of the mentions here, anyway.

Not yet, no. It's *looking* like it'll be this coming weekend, but nothing definitive yet. It still hinges on whenever she feels ready to come out, lol, though we'll help in the decision process.

Bad news: We're going to have to back out on this one, guys. There's a number of contributing factors, but mostly it's the cost of gas (we're trying to save money as Liz will be off from work for a while shortly), lack of a babysitter, and there's still some things to finish up around the house before Daughter 2.0 is due.

Red Wings Nation -This includes YOU!

I could talk to Kevin (Rinkside Ramblings) about it -- he's a veteran of these kinds of trips and uses Mickey Redmond Travel & Tours all of the time. I'm sure if the response is good enough (if the people involved are centrally located, I'm not sure if you all must be in the Detroit Metro area) maybe we could work some kind of discount?

Post something here in the Group Events forum! Also, I'm making a renewed effort to better publicize these group get-togethers (GTGs) by adding them to the Forum Calendar... There's currently two events listed so far... If we can get some good concrete details on the TC event we can post that up, too!

    Updated Forums Layout

Shortly after 9:30PM Friday night I rolled out some updates to the LGW.com forums here. Some of the changes you've probably already noticed, including a smaller top header, a white menu display instead of black and a new, an AJAX-enabled Red Wings schedule calendar topping off the right column, etc. The calendar should come in especially handy during the season, as the calendar can shift through the different months of the season on the fly without re-loading your browser window. To view information on a specific game (opponent, time, tv/radio, etc.) just roll your mouse over the date and a small pop-up window displays. Try it out! The new design also features a table-less design and is completely DIV-driven. This should increase overall loading times for you as your browser window will no longer "hang" as it attempts to completely load the table before displaying in your window. This design is optimized for monitors with a minimum horizontal resolution of 1024 pixels and works best in FireFox. If you have any comments, questions or notice any bugs, please feel free to PM me via the board here. Thanks!

    Signature Guidelines Enforcement

http://www.letsgowings.com/forums/index.php?act=boardrules Please take a moment and read the Forum Guidelines at the above link. Over the past few months there have been far too many large images, large text, etc., present in the signatures of members here. In order to make the LetsGoWings.com forums a pleasent experience for all of our visitors we ask that you all heed the following guidelines regarding signatures on these forums: - Signatures are limited to ONE jpg/gif image no larger than 400x100 pixels. Images that are larger than this will be removed by the moderating staff without warning. - Sigs are also limited to six lines at the default text size. If you opt to use a larger text size you are limited to three lines. - Members using BOTH an image and text in their signature are limited to one image and two lines of default text size only. - If you use an animated GIF of a video sequence it will be removed if the file size is deemed inappropriately large. Files such as these can dramatically slow site performance for other members. - Repeated failure to follow the Signature Guidelines outlined here will be grounds for suspension. Starting this Wednesday (7/12), these rules will be strictly enforced on these forums. Offending signatures will be removed immediately by the moderating staff when noticed and without warning. A link to the Forum Guidelines will be placed in your signature in its place. We ask members that have a signature that does not fit within these guidelines to edit it immediately. Those that fail to do this will have their signatures edited by forum staff. If you re-insert a non-conforming signature your account will be suspended. I don't like placing a heavy hand in on things like this, but the site needs to be a clean and easy-to-read experience for everyone and not require visitors to constantly scroll past excessively large signatures. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to PM me here. Thanks!

Which location? If it's downtown the Tigers have an afternoon game there and it's going to be craaaa-zzzaaay in there. (FWIW, on the 29th they're away in Minnesota.) Obviously, if this is Dearborn than my post is moot.

    Shanahan seeking a 2-yr deal at $5M/season

Shanahan didn't "agree" to a pay cut, he picked up the player option on his contract ($2.28M) that was 76% of the original salary. He didn't have a choice, and if he didn't think $2.28M was an appropriate salary... well, no one held a gun to his head telling him to pick up the option. He even waited until the deadline to make that decision. Let's not forget that when he signed that contract, even still a regular 30-goal scorer, he still felt his 2005-06 season was worth only $3 million in the PRE-CAP era. I agree (hope?) with this. $4M seems woefully excessive, despite scoring 40 goals among 80 points, for a 37-year old player that's obviously not getting any younger and is notorious for having big seasons in a contract year. $2.75M seems reasonable to me.

Well, it doesn't necessarily mean that it'd have to be in the next couple of weeks. We could do it *after* Daughter 2.0 arrives, but at that point you're looking at late August or early September, around Labor Day?
