I wouldn't touch Young with a 10ft. poll. You take Huff or Hawk (if he drops), if both are off the board you trade down a few spots and take a look at Greenway. Though there are rumblings that Millen is looking at the possibility of moving up to take Mario Williams. (I'd LOVE this move. LOVE IT. LOVE IT. LOVE IT.)

I'd be out for the NFL Draft, too -- that is, if there's no Wings game scheduled that day.

800x600 | 1024x768 | 1280x960 | 1280x1024 Enjoy!

Looks like someone got embarassed and called in backup. Ah, well. There's always one.

Oh, no no no -- that was definitely all of the *wife's* doing! If anything, that Mile High put the hurt on ME! I'm sure it'll give me nightmares (though it tasted good) and I'm not quite sure whether or not I actually got the entire thing on the camera since I didn't have a wide-angle lense. T'was good meeting up with some of you guys today and always a pleasure to put faces with the handles of the members that visit here. I would suppose it puts a "tangible" aspect on who sees this site, etc., etc...

FYI: I'll be there. The wife will be in tow as well. 3pm now? I'll have to adjust some times with the babysitter...

They changed the time. Bastards! (That schedule is the original from back in July. It hadn't been adjusted because I figured the new site would be finished. Yikes!)

Huard sucks. Mike O'Hara says in today's News that the Lions are hoping to get a 4th-5th rounder for him. Makes no mention of the 7th that KC reportedly offered. Foster also dropped this bomb: That the Vikings are mulling over offering a 3rd for Harrington, maybe on Monday. WTF? There are a score of teams that could use a (renegotiated) Harrington: Oakland, KC, Minnesota, Seattle, Baltimore, etc., etc... He should fetch something higher than what the Jets got Ramsey for (6th).
-
Rumor has it that KC is a suitor for Harrington via trade. There's also one other team in the running, but no inclination of who. (Oakland? Minnesota?) Terry Foster says the Lions want a 6th rounder for Joey but KC is offering a 7th...

If that were true than why hasn't he been cut yet? His salary this year is $4.45M and he's due a $4M roster bonus on June 15th. We all know he'll be gone by then. He's also due the pro-rated $3.5M bonus payment. More recent news says the Lions may *not* be interested in renegotating his contract and that it was Harrington that made the suggestion that he'd do anything he can contract-wise to help facilitate a trade. I can't see any reason the Lions would have him after the draft at the latest since it deep-sixes any chance at a 2nd-day draft selection (Lions don't have a fourth this year, and I doubt they could get that for him at this juncture.) If he's cut (and I'm figuring this correctly) the Lions have his pro-rated bonus pay compounded against the 2006 cap -- and that's $7 million, almost what the Lions will pay BOTH Kitna and McCown. I'm not saying that Harrington *will* get traded, but it does appear that the Lions will take their time leading up to the draft to try to work out a deal with a team that thinks they'd rather part with a late-round pick and have exclusive-rights ability to renegotiate his contract.
-
Not true. The reason Joey hasn't been cut already is because he's (reportedly) renegotiating his contract in order facilitate a trade. There are several potential suitors out there that would take him in as a backup/project at a reduced price.
-
LOL! Lions just signed McCown (2-years, $6M). See ya, Joey. Could be getting cut pronto... http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2371034 Looks like that $8M windfall could go toward Peterson/Law/Arrington/whom-the-hell-ever.... Lions news galore! lol
-
MLive just posted up that Harrington is expected to be cut by Monday. If he's not he's not expected to attend the opening of off-season workouts (which start then) and the reason could be because the team is working out a trade. The Lions have until June 15th to cut him before his $4M roster bonus kicks in.
-
If Harrington is going to get traded he'll have to restructure his contract in order to do so. There have been rumblings of that, but I wouldn't expect it. Teams are well aware that he'll end up getting cut and he doesn't have the track record that a player like Culpepper has, not to mention his MONSTROUS cap number this year as his contract currently stands. KC *was* the club that inquired about him. Minnesota & Oakland could also be interested. (Looks like Ramsey may go to the Jets.) Cutting him would save the Lions almost $9M against the 2006 cap. Trading him I think opens up $5-6M against the cap this year but you'd also have the benefit of that draft pick as well. Makes you wonder why the Lions weren't more involved in the Brees sweepstakes if they knew they'd have a $8M+ windfall from Harrington getting cut. Maybe they're satisfied going with Kitna as a No. 1 and are currently weighing the options of signing McCown or going QB in the drafts first three rounds?
-
I wouldn't be too quick to assume that -- I'd wait until after the Pro Days for both Leinart and Young later on. Shoot, a few weeks ago Cutler at No. 9 was considered a reach.
-
Judging by Tom Kowalski's story this morning it appears that Harrington's Lions career is pretty much over (if it's true): Joey wants out. That would explain why the NFL Network was saying last night that the Lions were still talking to Josh McCown despite signing Kitna earlier in the day... Should make for an interesting next 2 months. Sign another QB to the roster or cut/trade Joey and add a QB (Cutler?) in the draft?
-
Oh, I expect the Lions to stay where they are and hope Hawk falls, but I think they'll be perfectly happy with Huff. (IMO, J. Williams is overrated and'll fall into the mid-1st round.) I'd squeal like a little girl if Mario Williams dropped to No. 9, but that ain't happening. Wouldn't be surprised if they opt to draft Cutler, either, but with the hype lately he could be going to Oakland. (Draft Cutler = cut Joey.)
-
Also Drummond re-signed yesterday and Edwards re-upped today. With Brees going to NO maybe there's a chance they'll trade down instead of taking D'Brick... Would you be in favor of the Lions trading up to land D'Brick or Mario Williams at No. 2? (Rumor has it that Julian Peterson is in town today, along with Kimo Van Offenhosenhagenvolkswagon.)
-
No, IMO. Not worth Rivers + a 4th rounder.
-
Well, if the Lions were good for one thing on Turkey day, I could fall asleep at halftime and not worry about missing anything.
-
Ford's advertising dollars pull a mighty weight. It's been long-rumored that he's held that over the NFL's head for years concerning the Thansgiving Day game. (Not that I think the NFL would have a hard time recouping it, though, but that's what the rumor was.)
-
I'll take the SUPER BOWLS please.
-
I don't believe the Lions have both of those picks... they don't have one or the other (4th or 5th)... Pretty sure they traded it when they moved up to get Orlovsky last year. I'd rather have Volek if I had to choose between him, Kitna and Ramsey. (Schaub over them all.)
