And the Mule's in the cradle and the silver spoon. Little boy blue and the man on the moon. When you coming home Dad? I don't know when. But we'll get together then, yeah. We're gonna have a good time then...

Thanks for the update, Sarah Palin!

Perhaps. If he makes it. Still a big if at this point.

Maybe Ilari just wants to beat up his brother a little bit if he doesn't make it to the NHL.
-
True. But it's really, really funny when it annoys other team's fans even more.

Speaking of our own announcers, it's funny to see how pissed off other team's fans get when they have to watch Datsyuk. Not only do they have to witness something awesome that doesn't happen in their favor but Ken Daniels love for the phrase, "Datsyukian Deke" really grates on them.

What's up with this obsession with Hudler?

Man it is gonna suuuuuuuuck when the Wings have to resign nearly all their dmen in a few years. -
Well I think Japan is still the most notorious for whaling but I'm not so sure about sharking.

2/26 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Sabres 2 (SO)

I like a lot of different play by play teams out there in the NHL but for me it has very little to do with how much they talk about the Red Wings. I'm just not big on liking other sportscasters just because they say nice things about a team I love. It's great but what I pay attention to the most is the sound of their voices, how well they use them and how entertaining it is to the ears. Plus, another huge part of the job is how well they can keep the flow going as they try to explain a play or two. You listen to Mickey Redmond along with some other analysts and you can tell just by either natural talent or experience that he can effectively verbalize his knowledge of the game. It seems like mostly everybody who tries it out has a quality perspective on the game within their minds but a lot of them struggle to communicate it well over live TV. Another thing I like to look out for every now and again is how good they are at being honest, decent, genuine homers for their home team. Again, not that he's the greatest example but Mickey is definitely not afraid to point out when the Wings did not deserve a break that went their way or to have a flat out fangasm over plays by Datsyuk or Lidstrom or whoever. He does maintain a level of objectivity and that's what makes him very genuine and that's a reason why we like him on here. As a recent and ugly example, the sportscasters that have to cover a game with Matt Cookie in it have a very tough job to do and yet it's those games I think that are a good test for, "How much crazy homerism can I let out?" versus "Something just isn't right and I should speak up about it." -
Red Wings Won't be Active at Trade Deadline

Words can't describe the void that will exist when Lidstrom retires. The adjustment that will begin the Post-Lidstrom era is gonna suck so much. Maybe their crappy defensive performances are just the Wings trying to ween themselves very, very slowly. -

Too bad for Drew Miller and the Miller family, eh? -
Having a kid can have all kinds of effects on your psyche. For Stevie Y, Isabella (sp?) became his good luck charm. His words, not mine. For Mule... Who knows? It might inspire him to make the little mule or mulette proud. It might make him play even more soft because he can't be getting surgery and concussion like symptoms every year. I mean... He does already have his contract...

Makes the As on Pasha, Hank and Drapes look less honorable. Not kidding.

Vaybur would be really cool.

So what does it mean when people say, "Hard work will always beat skill when skill doesn't work hard."?

He... Scored a goal tonight...

But that's the time of the year where you have to have at least two or three guys at the net.
