Ya I think you have to at least look into that deal especially if we are unable to obtain Suter as a UFA. He adds a lot of potential and being in the Toronto area I can tell you that it is not an easy place to play whatsoever, especially for a young d-man with high expectations. Also if im correct I believe he and Datsyuk are really good buddies.

Franzen has never really been good with Pavel. There styles don't really gel together. Franzen has always been good with either zetterberg or Filppula, but at this point I don't think it really matters who he plays with because all he does is float around and waste his linemates hard work. Guy needs to go, this team can't afford to have passengers tie down there aging superstars (Datsyuk, Zetterberg)

Yes your talking to a big Hudler fan here. I would keep him for the right price, but we need to get Franzen off of this team ASAP. He's everything that is wrong with this team. No effort, no drive, no head for the game. We need to add talent to the top six and speed, size, grit, and toughness to the bottom six.

Exactly what i would go with and for the exact same reasons. Hudler over Franzen because he is atleast working harder and being more affective than Franzen.

Ah now thinking about it I would maybe do it. I watch quite a few Leafs games and he did struggle this year, but I can see some of that being the spotlight in Toronto, as well as the high expectations they have for him because of his first couple years. I don't love the salary but I can see him rounding into a shutdown d-man. Plus he is young and a right hand shot so I think I would pull the trigger on that deal. Would love for our roster to be this if we are unable to get Suter and Lidstrom retires. Lots of trades and roster moves so totally unrealistic that this will happen, but I would love the team. Totally agree with these lines. That would be the lines I would throw out next game if I were Babcock. Won't happen, but thats what I would do.

Franzen hell yes. Filppula no. Fil is gonna be a Wing for his career IMO. He's only going to get better and more confident as he is hitting his prime right now. Keep Filppula. Trade Franzen.

I'm not one of these crazy over the top fire everybody type fans but if we come out with the same lines for game 5 I will go snap show. Something has to happen. Exactly. And the fact is were not in our end enough to worry about defensive forwards and stuff like that. We are constantly in there end so why not have Fil- D- Nyquist together. They will probably dominate and create many chances. At this point throw everything out the window and try to spark this team. It's like last year when Fil- Datsyuk- Holmstrom were put together in game 6 and instantly clicked. Why in game 7 did Babcock to Datsyuk- Zetterberg- Holmstrom line why? You found something that worked just leave it. Nyquist and Filppula work with Datsyuk. Use it!

What's the problem? The lineup we've iced has score 1-2 goals every game anyways. Why not try something? Can't get any worse.

Actually I like this lineup better than mine. Hudler deserves to be there, he's ben more affective than Franzen.

I'm not really sure if anything is going to work at this time but I'd try something like this. Filppula- Datsyuk- Nyquist Cleary- Zetterberg- Franzen (used to work, might work now i don't honestly know) Hudler- Abdelkader- Bertuzzi Miller- Emmerton- Holmstrom Lidstrom- White Kronwall- Smith Ericsson- Quincey Yes I left out Stuart as it looks like he is already half way to California. I know probably none of this will actually happen so really doesn't matter.

They aren't the best options. Babcock is just too stupid to realize that since Nyquist has been up, this team is at it's best when he is playing with Datsyuk. It is right in front of you Babcock. Datsyuk+ Nyquist= Duh!!!!

Step by Step. 22.6 mill in cap space for 15/23 man roster 1) trade Franzen, Kindl, Emmerton for picks and prospects. Leaving us with roughly 28 mill with 12/23 spots taken 2) Throw Nyquist, Smith, and Mursak on the team leaving us with roughly 25.7 mill in cap space with 15/23 spots taken 3) Resign Helm and Andelkader. Helm 3 or 4 years for 1.75 a year. Abby 3 year 1.2. 22.75 in cap space for 17/23 spots taken. 4) Sign Suter, Parise, and Semin for a total of 19 million. Leaving 3.75 in space with 20/23 spots taken. 5) Sign Konopka and another fourth line physical player for cheap say 1.8 or so for both. I agree with all of this. Team needs to get greasier and tougher to play against. Lose Homer, Hudler, and Franzen up front. Bring in Parise, Semin, and a couple greasy 4th liners. Have D, Z, Fil, parise, Semin, and Nyquist in as your top six. Use Helm, Abby, Eaves, Cleary, and a couple of Prust/ Konopka/ Jones/ Hendricks/ others like that (too tired to see who are UFA's) as your bottom six. Have high end skill in the top six then throw energy, speed, and bangers and crashers in the bottom six to punish other teams.

Yes I'd be willing to trade for Staal, I just don't see the Pens willing to trade with us.

Yes I'm really not sure what you could get for Franzen, because he has such a bad/long contract. As far as Semin I can't really argue, cause fact is that it is questionable. All I can say is I think the change of scenery would help, as well as being with a fellow Russian playmaker in Datsyuk. I can just imagine a motivated dynamic Semin playing with Pavel. Talk about unstoppable.

No, no, no thats foolish. Jason Williams is a much better option. Looks pretty good to me. I like Semin over Malone, but I don't mind that lineup whatsoever. We need more right hand shots.

Yes I agree. If we lose lets make the team pay physically. I mean we do need the skill but we also need the grit that other teams have to wear down there d-men and top players. If it was up to me this would be lineup (up front) that I would ice next season. Nyquist- Datsyuk- Semin Filppula- Zetterberg- Parise Abdelkader- Helm- Eaves Prust/Glass/Moen- Konoka- Cleary Unrealistic but I think that is an amazing forward group.

Yes. We need a speed energy line with guys like Helm, eaves, and Abdelkader. Then a 4th line of grinders like Prust, and Konopka, etc. We need to be tough to play against again.
