I agree there is no reason to break the bank on him as there are other forwards that can be of value for a longer term. But i do feel he would fit in here with are euro style, and the veteran atmosphere. But ultimately its his decision and he can do what he feels is best for him. Anyway we have bigger needs like fixing the d. This is the first time that im seriously worried about our team especially on the back end. But in Kenny I trust. He always does the right things and thats why he is the best GM in the game
-
Man that would be epic especially since all signs lead to him going to the Pens. Although I can't take the sources reporting that its a done deal as credible because Jagrs flight hasn't even landed and his agent said the decision would be announced a short time after that. So all in all I have no idea what to think. I just want to know the decision one way or the other
-
+1. We've been hearing so many things out of Pitsburgh that are possibly not true. So I wouldn't take that tweet as 100% correct. I say it is probably 60% wings and 40% pens. This is my opinion based on the fact that it has seemed all along that the wings have been the most interested team and that Pit is on the fence about the idea of having Jags back in Pitsburgh
-
Anyone have any interest in Seth Griffith from the Knights? Right handed shot centre, with a great shot and pretty slippery. Only downside in my opinion is his skating. More technique then footspeed
-
Where does it say that the wings offered 2 mill for Jagr?
-
Well he will get his buyout money and lets face it he has warranted big dollar money with recent play. Most likely this will be a one year "lets see what you can do type deal." And he is playing above mursak. I have him on a line with Z and Mule

My perfect offseason roster would look something like this.... CAPGEEK.COM CAP CALCULATOR FORWARDS Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Johan Franzen ($3.954m) Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Jiri Hudler ($2.875m) / Daniel Cleary ($2.800m) Todd Bertuzzi ($1.937m) / Tomas Holmstrom ($1.875m) / Darren Helm ($0.912m) Justin Abdelkader ($0.787m) / Jan Mursak ($0.550m) / Kris Draper ($0.800m) Wojtek Wolski ($1.100m)/ Patrik Eaves or Chris Drury ($1.100m) DEFENSEMEN Brad Stuart ($3.750m) / Niklas Kronwall ($3.000m) Jakub Kindl ($0.883m) / Nicklas Lidstrom ($6.000m) James Wisniewski ($4.500m) / Christian Ehrhoff ($5.000m) Doug Janik ($0.512m) GOALTENDERS Jimmy Howard ($2.250m) / Chris Osgood ($0.800m) CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter) (these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion) SALARY CAP: $62,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $58,971,211; BONUSES: $0 CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,028,789 My forward lines would look like this... With Drury Filppula- Datsyuk- Holmstrom Franzen- Zetterberg- Wolski Cleary- Drury- Hudler Bertuzzi- Helm- Abdelkader Mursak Draper With Eaves Filppula- Datsyuk- Holmstrom Franzen- Zetterberg- Wolski Cleary- Helm- Hudler Bertuzzi- Abdelkader- Eaves With this we would still address the back end obviously with Wis and Ehrhoff that will help huge to solidify our team. What do you guys think?
-
Drury is being bought out by the rangers so thats why i suggested him. And with all the cap space we would have left who would you sign instead of Pitkanen? Edit: I would give that money to either Pitkanen, Bieksa, or Erhoff. Actually most preferably Erhoff
-
I think you would be pleasantly surprised. Hudler and Cleary did play well when together later in the season and i just feel Drury could be a perfect cheap fit for this team that needs a right handed faceoff man, a good shutdown player, that can also chip in offensively and move up in the lineup if injuries occur. Lids is making 6 mill not 3 mill

Fil- Dats- Homer Bert- Z- Mule Huds- Drury- Cleary Abby- Helm- Eaves Mursak Draper Lids- Wis Stuart- Pitkanen Kronwall- Kindl Janik Howie Ozzy PP1 Fil- Dats- Homer Wiz Lids PP2 Hudler- Z- Mule Pitkanen Kronwall What do you guys think?

I feel he would be a perfect addition to the wings. He's a right hand center who is a very good faceoff guy, can pk, and has a track record for timely playoff goals. IMO perfect third line center to play with cleary and hudler.
-
Would anybody be interested in Chris Dury on the cheap? Rumour is that he is going to be bought out by the Rangers.
-
He was very valuable in these playoffs , i felt that when we changed him for miller in game 3 are 4th line had so much more jump. Like you said he's good at faceoffs, i really disagree that his speed is declining the guy can still fly, muck it up in the corners, plays hard every shift, can Pk (even though he doesn't much). And he plays great with both helm and eaves. i absolutely love that line. He deserves to be here, and on the plus side he will be cheap. TBH i would rather have him then miller as i believe he brings more energy to the table.
-
You cant really argue with that line. When they played together in the regular season they were great

Brian Rafalski announces retirement after 11 NHL seasons

Well i feel he adds good speed and that grit we so lack right now. Saying that he still adds a little scoring touch and does have some hockey IQ. I've always liked him as a player and i feel that he is a hard player to play against and would be perfect on the wings third line to cause havoc as well as chip in offensively. Thats how i feel others may see things differently. I just really feel we need a shot in the arm up front. This may sound crazy but i feel the wings dont have as much skill as they once did. (Which is there greatest quality and makes them the team they have been). i feel a guy like Fleishman adds a lot of skill and flash and playmaking back into this lineup. I know its only one game, but this past year when they played the avalanche and got blown out pretty badly Fleishman tore us up and showed the skill he possesses. What do you guys think? -

Would you be okay if I moved Hudler to long island in exchange for Nabokov and signed scottie upshall to a contract similar to that of Hudlers? -

If we had this lineup personally i would run these lines... Fil- Dats- Homer Huds- Z- Cleary Franzen- Fleish- Bert Eaves- Helm- Abby (Mursak) Mursak can be subbed in for any of Abby, Eaves or even Big bert to give some much needed rest for older players. As well there will almost always be an injured therefore we wont have 13 healthy forwards. My D-core would be paired as this... Lidstrom- Pitkanen Kronwall-Kindl Stuart- Wiz How do you guys feel about this lineup? I know we dont add much size up front but we do add speed with mursak and a ton of good skill with Fleishman. On the back end we add depth and a physical presence in Wiz, while we add the skill, puck moving ability, and pp play in pitkanen to try and replace what we lose in Rafalski. what do you think? -

Raffi was and still is a world class d-man. I find it absolutely discusting to see people talk the way they do about him. Yes he went downhill a little defensively, but my god he was a top 5 pp quarterback in the league. Show some respect for a classy hometown player that gave everything he had to this organization and helped bring tremendous success since 2008 -

Too sad Raffi you will be missed. This may really hurt our pp -
Very good forward lines if only we could replace that third line center spot with a guy like Brooks Laich
-
I know this is almost 100 hundred percent not gona happen, but wouldn't simply scratching Homer make this team a lot better, and make line combos so much easier? Yes we lose his net front presence on the PP, but i believe that Mule should get back to doing that (2008 style) and Cleary is also very good at it. As well if we can get a guy like Brooks Laich I believe that he is someone that can play that role (I could be wrong about that though).
-
Whats your opinion of the top six below compared to the top six we used this year? Fil-Dats-Franzen Huds-Z-Cleary or Huds-Dats-Cleary Fil-Z-Franzen
-
Honestly yes of course it had a lot to do with those two, but you can say that with a almost any top six forward. To be good you need players around you, except for maybe a few (Dats, Crosby, maybe OV). Anyways what im trying to say is that Hudler has great skill, but he is not a "I'm gonna dangle the whole team and score" type player. He's a player that is very good when he plays with other good players. So why on earth would you put him with two guys like miller and Abby? Of course he wont do anything he isn't that type of player. So what im saying is okay if you dont want him playing in the top six with our best players then we need to get rid of him because he will be useless, but if you play him with are best players he will earn his money. IMO opinion if he plays with either Dats or Z all year he will be a steal at 2.85 per. (I know i may get flamed for that last comment which is understandable for his play at the end. This is just the way I view Happy Hudler)
-
I like a top 6 of Dats, Z, Mule, Fil, Cleary, and Hudler. You can argue and say what you will and use some stats from this year, but this top six is a hell of a lot better than Dats, Z, Mule, Homer, Bert, and Clears. If you dont think so your crazy. And you can counter by saying well then our third bottem six has bad depth and looks for 3rd and 4th lines. That is exactly the problem with Holmstrom. Holmer absolutely kills our line combos cause he can't play in the bottom six cause he is slow, and bad defensively. But he also isn't good in the top six cause he slows down a guy like Datsyuk. If you gave me an option of having a line of Mule-Datsyuk-Huds or those two and Homer instead of Huds ill take the line with Huds 10 out of ten. He has the skill and the ability to play with top end players and absolutely rip it up. a big simple problem with this team is Holmstrom as he affects the way we can put together our lines, as Babs refuses to split up Dats and Homer, and have Homer as a scratch. Honestly I am not a Homer hater i honestly really like the guy its just hard for him to fit in 5 on 5 as he brings down our top lines, and takes energy out of our bottom six players. Yes you can say well stick him on 4th line and make him a specialist, but the problem is that this team has the ability to have a 4th line of Mursak-Helm-Eaves and honestly I cannot say there is a better 4th line in hockey and you'd be crazy not to want to keep them as a 4th lines. I know it is very unrealistic and is NOT going to happen but if the Wings are able and willing to make Homer there 13th forward this team can be a serious force. You do this and sign Vernon Fiddler or Brooks Laich. Laich preferably although he will cost more. You spend the rest of the cap space to shore up the d-fence i'm not going to go into specific players as i'm only looking at the forwards. You run these lines and you will be successful..... Fil- Dats- Mule... This line would absolutely dominate as Fil and Dats work there magic and Mule finishes. (They will have the puck all shift... Seriously) Huds-Z-Cleary... This is a very strong second line that posseses skill and awesome hockey IQ as well as some grit and speed with Cleary. (We all know how good Z is controlling the puck in the corners and down low, he can find Huds and Huds does have a good shot) Bert- Laich or Fiddler- Abby... This line posses speed and size and the ability to grind it out. With Fiddler you have a good defensive forward and a good faceoff man (something we lacked vs San Jose). Laich provides more offense, but still is a very good 2-way forward. You add Bert and Abby to this and you have a big line that can grind you down low and has the ability to pich in with some offense. Mursak-Helm-Eaves... All i can say is NIGHTMARE. Plain and simple this is an awesome line. As well if there needs to be a shake up within the top six I feel that the wingers between both Datsyuk and Z can be switched. So im perfectly happy with it being the lines above or Huds-Dats-Cleary and Fil-Z-Mule. Either way i feel that is a very good group of forwards. Sorry for the rant. Add your suggestions good or bad. Thanks LGW
