    Refs favor Crosby Malkin

That's the thing, any "evidence" outside of a handwritten note from Bettman to an official to help the Pens (which will never exist) will simply be scoffed at as sour grapes by the team that lost. That's why this never REALLY gets looked at. Who would be the ones to look at it anyway, Bettman and the league? Yeah, they're really gonna bust themselves. Why do you think the "discretionary" bs is part of the suspension rule? So the league can swoop in and manipulate it should they so choose of course. esteef

    Refs favor Crosby Malkin

C'mon dude, I know not all things will be caught by the refs. I know all teams get away with s*** at some point or another. The timeliness of the calls for the Pens in conjunction with the obvious stuff like the Malkin non-suspension are the things that really chap my hide! Again, not an elaborate scheme involving hundreds of people, just a consistent amount of timely calls to keep their heads above water. I don't think that's too ridiculous to imagine. esteef edit: spelling again dammit!

Of course it's looked at more closely when a team loses, that's because a lot of times the s***ty calls helped the loss become possible. Just because people don't ***** about it when they win doesn't mean there weren't any bad calls against them. 2nd paragraph is your opinion on how it went down, and I disagree. It's a perfect example of a player taking advantage and then getting let off the hook. Your utter dismissal of any and all things "conspiracy" or "favoritism" is silly. Especially when that NBA ref was busted doing exactly that. You don't think this type of thing happens in the NHL when it happened in a way more lucrative league such as the NBA? His testimony was very telling in that leagues could encourage manipulation of games (is that "evidence"?). I wonder if there were people like you telling NBA fans about how conspiracies and favoritism are bulls*** before that ref was busted? esteef edit: spelling

Ah yes, typical naysayer reaction. The reality of the "conspiracy" is that it is probably less like a huge concerted effort to completely arrange the entire season/playoffs in favor of the Pens/Crosby and more like a few calls here and there at key times in games to give them that extra boost. I mean they don't need THAT much help, just a pick-me-up when they're in trouble is usually enough to keep them around. But please, dazzle me some more with your clever argument style nametags. esteef

Blowing out of proportion? Please man, everyone and their mother knew as soon as Malkin dropped his gloves he would not be serving any suspension for it. Malkin knew what he was doing and that he'd probably get away with it. But since there's no smoking gun of "evidence", it's all make-believe right? Have the refs been ******* up this playoffs? Yes. But those f***-ups never seem to hurt the Pens, only other teams. Coincidence? I wonder if Malkin would've done the same had it been the end of the 1st or 2nd period? esteef

Dallas Stars hire Marc Crawford as head coach

So Dallas is too respectable of an organization to keep Avery around but hires Crawford as their coach? WTF? esteef

So a newspaper reporter disagrees? Big whup. That proves nothing but a differing opinion from some reporter. Malkin's instigator call was correct. The rule is in place to stop exactly what he did. His infraction was well after the whistle, after Ozzie had already been speared and guys had already come together in front of the net. Only then did he skate around and lock up with Zetterberg. Even here he would've been fine as long as it was merely some face washes and shoves but Malkin drops his gloves and starts swinging. Why? Be cause he knows the clock has run out and he won't serve a minute of any penalty coming. Clearly taking advantage of it being late in the game to take some free shots at our star player. Exactly what the rule was intended to stop. Hence the instigator. The only difference is he doesn't have 'Godard' on the back of his sweater. Good thing the rule is for "Any player" and not just repeat offenders. Malkin should've been suspended, the fact that he wasn't had nothing to do with the actual infraction and everything to do with the name on his jersey. What if he got a good shot on Z and broke his jaw, knocking him out for the rest of the series? Would it have been ok for Malkin to play then? And what about how fast the league rescinded it? Could they be insinuating that their ref made a call so horrible that they had to immediately correct it before the broadcast was over? I thought refs don't make mistakes? Of course, no one's aloud to talk about that, something Quenville learned the hard way right? But yes, the Freep disagrees, whoopty-freakin' doo. esteef

Are you suggesting there has been no evidence of favoritism by the league/officials for Crosby/Malkin/Penguins? If so, please stop talking to me. esteef
