Yep, the vehicle out of this mess is already there, Center Ice. What f***s it up is the sole "rights" issue and blackouts. Most casual fans don't have Center Ice so they would still have the desire to watch NBC/Versus and therefore still enable the "limited" rights idea to have value for the networks. Plus, isn't the NHL making money off of the Center Ice packages they sell around the country? At least enough to offset some of the money they might lose in the "exclusive" vs "limited" rights idea? The old business model needs a little tweakin' Bettman! esteef

Easy solution, stop selling the sole rights of playoff games to networks such as NBC, Versus, etc., and put ALL the games on Center Ice. This way, the people who pay extra can see whatever game they want wherever they are. Done. NBC and Versus can still buy limited rights to games ("limited" because the games will still be on Center Ice). That way NBC/VS can still show games and sell advertising but "real" ( ) fans can still go get the game they want wherever they are through Center Ice. Exactly. They have customers scrambling to find their product through any means necessary because they don't do a good enough job of providing it. Like I said in another thread, I pay extra for Center Ice and make sure I have all the necessary channels (Versus, etc) and I STILL don't get to see all my team's games! The days of the "watch whatever they feel like broadcasting" are over. (See radio) These games, all of them, should be available to everyone, wherever they are. Get with the times NHL! Same boat I'm in in SoCal. I have cable with NBC, Versus and all that plus the Center Ice package, but if Anaheim decides to blackout the game I'm f***ed, regardless of which channel it's on. That's why I'm looking into these streaming sites to try and fill that gap in the event I'm blacked out. I love paying extra for more channels and exclusive hockey packages and yet still miss the games I wanna see. It's awesome! esteef

P2P is what I believe you meant to say (peer-to-peer), and they're not illegal by default, it's the potential content on them that could be "illegal". esteef

So how does Ustream.tv work. I mean I know it's free but I went there and couldn't really find anything. Will the games just show up in the All>Sports>Hockey>Live window on game day? Is it the same crappy quality as the SCF Game 6 they have there? Thanks for the info btw, esteef
