Is it time to make some major moves for this year's playoff run?

You HAVE to stir it up don't you?!!! esteef -
Save your strength, we need you to help us argue for a 4th line tuffy! esteef

There is no story, I understand that. But chastizing people for uttering the word Crosby any and all times just gets old. The people who don't like Sid will use this to bolster their dislike of him, as expected, so why the soapbox already? It's just a current event, nothing more... esteef
-
And this still surprises you? Hey, we're only following what the league is cooking up for us? And the current story is the "tough" words between Sid and Ovie. No biggie, but once again, nobody's allowed to talk about Crosby here. esteef

So what are your thoughts on fighting in the NHL? esteef

He'd look good on our 4th line. esteef

So seeking constant improvement somehow translates to being spoiled? Interesting.... esteef

And yet you showing up to post the same dribble without taking the time to read if any new ideas or takes have been offered in the thread only perpetuates the problem, no? esteef

Then how do you expect to get the new and exciting versions of the same argument?!! esteef

Way to miss the point entirely. I even bolded it! esteef

Trevor Thompson's take on the Hossa "fight": "Watching Marian Hossa fight during the dying minutes of Wednesday night's game against Nashville almost made me sick to my stomach. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not one of these hypocrites who wants to take fighting out of the game, yet stands and cheers the moment the gloves are dropped. I love a good tussle, plain and simple. I'm just saying this guy, Marian Hossa, shouldn't be fighting for the Wings - ever. His hands have more value than that...way more! Hossa isn't the only one either. Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, Nicklas Lidstrom - don't fight, don't fight, don't fight - please, please, please! What happens to the teams if one of those elite stars dislocates a shoulder, busts a hand, or cracks their skull on the ice while "sticking up for himself"? It's not something anyone wants to deal with. After their initial chuckles about Hossa's fight, the first thing every player in that dressing room said was, "I was just hoping he didn't get hurt." Hey , no one wants to see anyone get hurt. But the fact of the matter is goal scorers are paid to score goals and fighters are paid to fight so that goal scorers can score goals. Get my drift? If a fighter gets hurt he understands it's part of the job description. The tough guy is there to police the game and make sure no one takes liberties with the high-priced talent. But there is no such presence in the Red Wings lineup these days. That forced Hossa in to a position he should never have been in in the first place. Each of us, at some point in time, has to fight our battles. Heck, even Wayne Gretzky threw down a couple times in his career. And there's little doubt the fans of Detroit will love Hossa even more for fighting in his situation. However, frontier justice has always been the law of the land in the NHL. The highly skilled types of players have always had some form of "protection" built in to the lineup for them so they can get their space on the ice to do their thing without fear of being bullied or baited all night long. The Wings need to build that kind of protection in to their lineup too or more situations like Hossa's are bound to occur, and next time it might not be so funny." Exactly. esteef

Because enforcers are useless?

Hossa gets the Gordie tonight! :punch: esteef

Downey would kill Tootoo and Lilly would have superior reach on him probably keeping Toots from landing anything before Lilly threw him to the ice. I give Tootoo credit though, he's come a long way from the cheap-shotting skate away type guys we knew him as before. He's not a great fighter but at least he mans up now. esteef
