Of course it's offensive, he's trying to get under Dion's skin. That's his job, and he's doing it very well it seems, even with certain fans. His teammates were pissed because it was yet another mouth-running instance that caused negative press in their locker room which they had to answer questions about, not because they had a problem with what he actually said. At least Turko and Richards didn't say anything specific to his comments. This punishment is over the top in my opinion, period. Fine him and move on. esteef

Not to turn this into a court case or anything, but how do you know he wasn't kidding? Because it's Sean Avery and you don't like him? I mean wasn't he snickering and grinning as he said it? Just sayin'... esteef
-
Why would they stop playing the commercial then? I mean if nothing's wrong with it and they were just kidding? How does anyone know for sure Avery wasn't "just kidding" or that he was doing it "in jest"? Verbal sparring before a game is all it is. esteef

Haha! That hilarious! Good luck with that! Yes, Kronner, line up a big hit on Parros and see what that gets you! Wait, wait,...so would this be our new deterrent instead of the PP?

"YO-MAMA-WEEN!"

YO-MAMA-WEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's basically what it boils down to. Because who really gives a s*** about some dumb actress anyway? She don't have s*** to do with the league except schtooping the players. "Sloppy Seconds" is far from something I would consider suspension worthy. FREE AVERY!!!!! BTW, I think Avery could kick Phaneuf's ass! esteef

Guys can take other guys' heads off on the ice with nothing but Avery gets suspended for calling a chick a skank? WTF!? Boooooooooooools***! esteef

First I know it wasn't aimed at me necessarily, I don't take things personally here anyway and I hope no one else does either. The fighter thing is not a definitive formula like team + fighter = win. Fighting is an aspect of the game, a part of the equation if you will. Sort of like face-offs, you can lose every face off and still win the game (or lose it). My point is, if we know we're playing a team like Anaheim, or St Louis, or Boston, etc we should prepare ourselves for a rough game by having guys in the lineup that can handle things if it gets out-of-hand. Again, I think intimidation plays a bigger role in hockey (or all sports for that matter) than you, be it physical, verbal, mental, whatever, but that's beside the point. I do use a lot of "if"s because each game/situation is different (score, reg season/playoffs, opponents typical style of play, unfinished business from prior "cheapness", etc) I just don't like playing tough teams without a fighter, especially when we keep one for that exact reason. Granted MAC would've been in if he wasn't hurt, but he WAS hurt. So cover for him by bringing Downey up to help Lilja out "if" things get nasty. So it's not news that "fighting" teams lose games too. Winning a game without a fighter proves about as much and winning a game with one doesn't it? I mean, can the fight or lack of one actually be traced back to the reason the team won? It's debateable of course cause now you're talking about intimidation, momentum, you know things that don't have stats or "proof". I don't know about the games above because I didn't watch them either (too busy with my head up the Wings ass I guess! ) but there were some fights in them yes? So it wasn't all hunky dory accepting loses. BTW, how do you know the Ducks playing tough isn't the main reason they are winning? Isn't it possible that their rough style of play not only intimidates opposing players but wears them down as well? esteef PS edited my dumb spelling.

Settle down man. Who said anything about not winning? I just don't like cheap hits on our players to go unanswered. When the score is tight there is usually less cheap play as to not put either team on the PP. Is this a surprise to you? Again, if the Wings don't hit posts or miss empty nets last night and the score is a little lopsided late, you definitely would've seen some run-ins. I KNOW you know this stuff, you're just trying to score some cheap little points in the fighter vs non-fighter debate. esteef
-
Easy..., one goal game pretty much the whole way through. If it was 4-1 Wings in the third, you'd have seen more "messages". esteef
-
So our forwards get to take abuse because management/coaching staff didn't plan ahead and have space available at all times to move necessary guys up and down? If that's the case, we should carry a fighter at all times to avoid this type of situation. Downey won't do us any good in GR tonight! esteef

Kopecky vs. Perry! I'm calling it right now!
-
It's basically hanging Lilja out to dry. I mean MAC's hurt, the Ducks are a rough and tumble team every time we play them, they're stacked with players that fight, we've had fights/cheapshots from them in the past, it's the regular season, we still lead the division, and our best fighter is in the AHL eatin' chips watching the game on tv! What else do they need to call him up? Death threats?! Good luck Lilly! esteef
-
If Downey doesn't get called up against the Ducks, why the f*** do we have him? He should've been in against Boston as well. Wings - 6 Ducks - 0 Goals: Flipper, Flipper, Flipper, Flipper, Flipper, and Kronner. Cheers! esteef
-
Would love to see Downey vs. Lucic but oh well. I guess we continue waiting for Downey's call up. Wings - 6 Bruins - 0 Goals: Flipper, Flipper, Flipper, Flipper, Flipper, and Lids. Cheers! esteef

LILLY KNOCKED THE f*** OUT OF BOLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

He IS hot! Anyone who can help Maltby get a point is hot! Lilly and Stuart with at least 4 BIG hits last night did my heart good. Cheers to Lilly! esteef

Gotta keep his hands soft enough for the puck-possession game?

Back on topic... Lilja Hammer!

Did the Wings screw this up or is it too early to tell?
esteef replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Quincey had a sick pass to set up a goal yesterday against the Caps! Atta boy Kyle! just sayin'... -
Agree. He lost, he didn't get destroyed. Without the brace that cuts MAC, this is a normal hug fest with a couple of good punches by Souray (and MAC got a few in at the end too! ) esteef
-
WRONG! MAC didn't get "destroyed", he did just fine. He was cut above the eye from Souray's ***** wrist brace he had on (see below). MAC gave him a bunch of crap after the fight about the f***in' brace too. Souray = *****. esteef
