He deserves all the negativity thrown his way because of past actions but I agree, he's kept it down this year. Living in SoCal I see the Kings games all the time and he is a good player regardless of the smack everyone talks about him. He's surprisingly fast and can handle the puck pretty well considering he's not really known for it. He hits hard and will back up whatever he says or does with his fists. He's not the greatest player, but he's not chopped liver like some here would suggest because of what he says in the media. I agree with Gordie though, he's too small for what we need. esteef

I'm with ya. Did you know if you slow the tape down from his tip-in goal last night it will show he actually received the pass from Schneider and put two huge deeks on the San Jose goaltender then slammed it in the open net? He's THAT good folks. Cheers! esteef

Exactly! Off topic. Aside from when that guy skated around him and got a scoring chance, Lilja looked pretty good as well for not having played lately. Especially on the penalty kill bangin' people off the puck. Hell he even hit the post on a hard shot from the point! Cheers! esteef

I watched Lang closely last night because of all the crap on this board about him. He did alright as far as I'm concerned. He had 4 SOGs, one of them being a slam dunk that CuJo just made a great save on, he had 2 assists and was a plus three. He drove down the middle quite a few times, drawing guys to him and then dishing the puck. He's coming right along with the rest of the team. No worries! esteef

I can agree with that. Plus, keep in mind, a lot of, we'll say, "average" defensemen have come over and had good years in Detroit's system. (Wooley, Olaussen, Dandenault, etc...) Now I'm not saying they rose to the top of the team or anything, but they definitely contributed. (Remember Olaussen's OT goal against the Avs in the playoffs?) Anyway, just food for thought. I'm all for keeping an open mind about Cross. Cheers! esteef

Pretty much yeah, Cross might start a game or 2 before the season is over just to validate the trade, but I don't see him being a regular. ...unless there are injuries of course... wurd, esteef

My two cents: I'm fine with replacing Mowers with Bootland. Hell, I'd even give him Cleary's spot for a couple of games. What's Cleary done that's so great? He skates fast, can't finish and gets knocked off the puck easily. Give Boots a shot. I'd also switch out Lebda for Rivers but I'm still not ready to give up on Rivers entirely though. He's still got a little roughness to him that I like. For example, he's one of the few Wings I've seen consistently clear people away from the goal tender after the whistle.
