Jannik Hansen suspended 1 game for elbow on Hossa
esteef replied to haroldsnepsts's topic in General
Total "accident". This type of swatting at the puck "happens all the time". I'm "certain there was no intent". Just because the teams have a "history" doesn't mean he did it on purpose. Hossa has already had concussions so he should've been wearing "better equipment". See how easy that is? esteef -
He fights so Holland won't have anything to do with him. Next! esteef

Tatar doesn't need to battle along the boards as much because he has speed and moves to control the puck without pinning it and looking for help. Put Tatar with Datsyuk and watch the points rack up. I'm so sick of obvious skill players (and usually smaller ones at that) having to earn their stripes on bottom lines with muckers and checkers. Put them where they'll produce regardless of "seniority". esteef

Tatar not being on one of the top 2 lines was a mistake. esteef

I just Cleary'd my pants! esteef

I noticed Tatar taking quite a bit of extra shoves and crosschecks at the back end of plays (scoring chances) but he just kept attacking. LOVE THAT! esteef

5K fine? Oh lord what will he ever do? esteef -
Well, you could say, "You know esteef, you are absolutely right about this and the next time I see Matt Cooke on the street I'm gonna kick the living s*** out of him." But in lieu of that I guess I'll take a difference of opinion. esteef

Skate blade being pushed forward towards Karlsson's ankles BEFORE Cooke gets to the boards. esteef
-
Pinning someone against the boards involves leading with the thigh, not the skate blade, but I'm sure all the "players" on the board know this already. Cooke is laughing at all of you. esteef

You mean the same San Jose team who knocked the Wings out of the playoffs two years straight and are currently beating us in the standings? That team? Unfortunately actual results don't support your "prospects" theory. And what the Sharks are doing has zero bearing on what Kenny ISN'T doing. esteef

Ah yes, the classic "It's not Holland's fault!" excuse. Like there were no better d-men to be had via trade or free agency that were better than Quincey or Colieakmsxkndnhdsvo. Poor old Holland. I mean Lids and Stuart leaving were a complete surprise to him. As you said though, at least Brunner has worked out so far, which again is because of a scout and not through Holland's trade prowess or draft genius. Holland's real good at finding pieces that nobody really wants and hoping they turn it around in Detroit, but he hasn't competed against other teams for a top talent and won in a long time, and it's become painfully obvious. esteef

So lifting your leg SKATE FIRST is currently being taught? I don't think so. Surely an NHL caliber player of numerous years in the league knows how to properly perform pinning another player against the boards without stomping his foot skate-first into the opponent's leg. It's not like Cooke had another player checking him to knock him off balance or anything, he had all day to initiate and properly pin Ottawa's best d-man against the boards without the skate blade making contact. Unfortunately he did not and it wasn't some damned accident. Using consensus among NHL and tv "experts" is laughable. They will simply fall in line with the league's decision because we all know who affords their paychecks. This isn't the first time, and it certainly won't be the last that they royally screwed up. The Sens owner and GM are absolutely right. Cooke is a piece of s*** and shouldn't be in the league. He's had enough f***in' chances. esteef

Tatar deserves top line minutes over Cleary or Sammy. esteef

Holland and Nill would never bring any one of Clarkson, Clowe, Neil or Erskine to the Wings, let alone all of them. Those guys are too tough for the Wings "style of play". It would certainly be OK by me though. esteef

If stomping someone from behind with a skate blade is considered hitting now then yes, suspend away! esteef
-
Apparently this is all Karlsson's fault now for not wearing the right kind of socks. What a load of crap! esteef
-
Yep, lots of examples of why this guy certainly deserves the benefit of the doubt. http://www.tolensky.com/2011/03/matt-cooke-history-of-violence.html esteef

The two circumstances are not even remotely similar but nice try Mr. "logic". If what Cooke did is sooooo commonplace then where are all the sliced legs? Maybe it's because the vast majority of instances where a player is pinned from behind didn't involve a douchebag like Matt Cooke and therefore didn't result in an "accidental" leg slicing. But I'm sure Karlsson was just "unlucky" in this case, I mean that's what all the talking heads on tv are saying right? And of course we believe everything that's on tv right? Everyone is CERTAIN of Matt Cooke's "intent" right? I hope someone seriously hurts Matt Cooke. (by "accident" of course ) esteef
