To make this first part Hockey related. Usually I sleep in on Wednesday since I don't have class til 11am but I just a text regarding an unrelated matter. Right when I was about the click send another person a fellow Wings fan called and said "Did you hear about the plane crash carrying that hockey team in Russia." When I checked it my heart sank knowing they were on it. As a Commercial Aviation enthusiastic, I can say that 1994 is young for a plane. There are A LOT of planes older then that flying the US but the US likely has higher maintenance standards then Russia. But still looking at the YAK-42's accident record 5/7 of them before this one well over 70% of them have been Crew Error or Weather related of some kind. While I won't speculate what happened out of respect for the families I do have a couple of possibilities and terrorism isn't one of them.
