Not that I can think of off the top of my head.
-
I am starting to think after today's in action he has something up his sleeve. Either a Trading Kronwall, Hulder and a Prospect/or draft pick for Bogosian because Winnipeg has a significant amount to spend to hit the floor at least $10-12 Million or a RFA offer sheet for Doughty. I am not defending Ken at all because I am just as angry but I am starting to think there is a back room plan.

This Free Agency Spending is beyond madness. This is why there should be a percentage cap for the amount the cap can go up or down in a year. The reason for this is that I am afraid we may be heading in the same direction the NHL was before the lockout in 2004-05. We will see more teams lose money most likely (Florida tops my list) and then more threats of teams moving. It is just an ugly cycle. I know some of you don't share my view but I am a Finance Major so I have a different view on this kind of stuff. I want hockey to succeed but I am concerned with this wreckless spending.

My views here are the winners and losers. Winners 1. Columbus Jeff Carter and Wisnieski nuff said! 2. Ericsson's pocketbook I still can't over him getting $3.25 Million a year for the next 3 years We Shall See how it pans out 1. Buffalo I was ok with the Erhoff deal but this Leino deal makes me bump them out of my winners category. Ericsson's deal looks great compared to what Leino got. Plus I don't like there long term deals 2. Florida I am not sure how these deals will pan out e.g. Jovo and Campbell. I really think that most of these moves were to spend money to get to the floor. Losers (I am including four on this one because I am posting it) 1. Philadelphia I realize they had cap issues but they traded away both their stars for a GOALIE who is 30 and making $5.5 Million a year.... They also signed Jager pffttt.... 2. Chicago Blackhawks I understand Duncan Keith's deal is up next year but they moved so many pieces of that team this year and they haven't done much to improve. I have to wonder did Writz tell Stan B. to do a Salary dump????? 3. Avalanche Trading for Varmalov what a dopey move especially giving up a potential lottery pick..... 4. My Sanity..... Today has been one of the most frustrating days of my life as a hockey fan. The Wings haven't done ANYTHING (except re-sign Eaves which I liked)

Wings sign D Mike Commodore to 1-year, $1m contract

What is wrong with Ken Holland???? This is just DUMB! -
Hudler gets shown the door and traded to Winnipeg.
-
This is even worse then the Ericsson signing IMO. This is why the large increase to the cap was not a good idea at all in my mind. I hope it goes down a bit next year or stays stagnant at the very least.

This shows how out of control the Free Agency Market is this year in terms of salaries.

Wings re-sign Eaves to 3-year, $3.6m contract

I will say this a not a good but a GREAT signing! Plus it was only $200,000 more per year then I thought he'd get. -
I can't say I've had either but I'd like to try it someday. Munich has very good beer though especially the light at Hofbrauhaus. Though I will say Kentucky is more Whiskey country e.g. Makers Mark, Jim Bean etc.

That is why I am nervous with all of this over payment this FA Season that we may be heading down this road again. Also I'd like to thank Ken Holland for giving me an excuse to have a beer tonight while doing some homework for my summer class

We can only hope that is the case. -

Yes I did realize that. For some reason I thought he was up at the end of the year. I stand corrected. I forgot about Hudler, Bert and Holmstrom. I am just stating that I am kind of worried about all the overspending in a way. -

Yea only problem with blowing a lot of it this year is that A. We are going to need a new #1 D-Man most likely next year 2. Stew and Kronwall are going to need new contracts. 3. The Cap Could Go down Next Year 4. Abdalkader and Helm is a RFA. -

WTF!!!! What are you thinking Kenny??? -
While I don't live in Germany I have traveled there a fair amount on Vacation before (I love traveling to Europe and I am the only one dumb enough to go with my Dad on his adventures ) But in all seriousness I do agree with you and as I once said "The Beer is better in Frankfurt, Germany then it is Frankfort, Kentucky."

Ehrhoff's rights traded to NYI, then traded to Buffalo

According to Bob McKenzie on Twitter (Just added him as a follower) it is a valid deal. -
Not a fan of this move at all. I do understand why Roy's and Sakic's number were retired but Borque (I do agree Boston was smart to retire his) and Forsburg come on..
-
While I think it would be a decent move but I am still concerned about our Defense in a way.
-
If Ken Holland was smart he'd make an offer. I'd say around 7 Million a year. This will hopefully tie the Kings hands up.
-
Here's my thoughts on the issue. This is becoming very similar to the Montreal Expos fiasco of the early-mid 2000's. The ownership is non-existent. No one wants to keep the team all the good players are leaving etc. They need to move soon. If I had to predict three possible places they'd be 1. Quebec City (Very nice City by the way) 2. Kansas City 3. Vegas or Seattle. For anyone who wants the RIM guy to buy them. Can I chuck my P.O.S. Blackberry at him???? I HATE HATE HATE IT
-
If it was me the most I'd given him would have been $3 Million a year.

Lets think COMPLETELY outside of the box for one minute...

NO and here's why it costs WAY too much in my view to do such a deal.
